RUSH: Another leak here of the upcoming Trump budget, but this one\u2019s kind of cool.\u00a0 “A four-page White House budget memo secured by the Washington Post reveals the Trump administration wants a 17% cut in National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)\u2019s overall budget\u200a — \u200awith the deepest cuts coming from earth observation. NOAA studies the atmosphere and oceans\u200a — often using satellites\u200a — \u200ato [supposedly] better understand climate and weather.”\u00a0 Folks, a lot of the questionable temperature record that has been reputedly altered has come out of NOAA.<\/p>\n

That Little Pinch<\/p><\/div>\n
Now, Trump has played a fun game.\u00a0 When he went to meet the editors of the New York Times during his transition, you remember that Little Pinch, Arthur Sulzberger Jr., started railing on Trump about climate change? And Trump said, “Well, you know, I\u2019m open to it.\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 I mean, I certainly want to do everything I can to save the planet.\u00a0 But, Arthur, there have been storms forever.”\u00a0 And Arthur Sulzberger said, “Not like this!\u00a0 Not like this, President-Elect Trump!\u00a0 Not like this!”\u00a0 He was talking about Hurricane Sandy and kind of thing.<\/p>\n
Trump walked out of there, and the New York Times wrote stories, “President Trump is actually open to…” and he wasn\u2019t.\u00a0 He was telling them what they wanted to hear at the time, which they\u2019ve now figured out.\u00a0 He might have made it clear he doesn\u2019t want any further involvement with whatever the Paris accords were, doesn\u2019t want anything to do here with climate change or global warming, and he\u2019s proving that there are plenty of places in the federal budget you can cut.<\/p>\n
When we\u2019ve been told, “No, no, no! There\u2019s nothing you can cut because it\u2019s all entitlements. There\u2019s not very much discretionary spending, and you can\u2019t cut the budget without cutting entitlements.”\u00a0 That\u2019s what we\u2019ve heard our whole lives, and Trump\u2019s budget is whacking various agents and agencies with serious cuts like this, and it had got people all riled up.\u00a0 Now, this story appears in a very left-wing blog post called ThinkProgress, and one of the people reacting to it is calling Trump\u2019s budget cut “an all-out assault on earth.”<\/p>\n
Right.\u00a0 This is part of the meme — you\u2019ve heard it before — that the Republicans somehow don\u2019t mind dirty air, and the Republicans are fine with dirty water and pollution in general. “As long as there\u2019s profit to be made, the Republicans don\u2019t care,” which is absurd on its face.\u00a0 Common sense.\u00a0 It\u2019s just absurd.\u00a0 But yet this is what leftists say to their young kids and their students and so forth.\u00a0 But none of this is mattering to Trump.\u00a0 He\u2019s gonna take the budget knife and the axe to these various departments, and it looks like he\u2019s very serious about it at all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
