RUSH: Thank you very much, sir.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m angry and I have a question. It\u2019s infuriating to sit and watch Congress stand by while the media and the Democrats just pile on Trump from every direction. The Republicans are sitting on their hands like spectators. They\u2019re doing nothing. Nothing for Trump, nothing for us, the people that put him in office, no legislation. I called (unintelligible) and I called McCaskill and Cleaver — of course, the last two won\u2019t do anything. But the question is what more can all of us do to get the Republicans in Congress to start doing the job we sent them there to do?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, I\u2019ve gotten this question in one form or another for 30 years. But I\u2019ll tell you, it has a different answer this time when you ask it. The one thing that you need to keep doing — and I don\u2019t know how you do it specifically. Did you vote for Trump?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Oh, yeah. Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Okay. You need to let these members of Congress know, I don\u2019t care if it\u2019s McCaskill, if it\u2019s Emanuel Meat Cleaver, I don\u2019t care who it is, you need to tell them and you need to get all your friends to tell them that there\u2019s nothing they can do, that you are with Trump to the end. Because all they\u2019ve got is trying to separate you who voted for Trump and support Trump, separate you from him. ‘Cause he\u2019s got no other support base, as you\u2019ve correctly identified. The Republicans in Congress just do not seem to be carrying around the glow of victory. Does it appear like they are to you?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No.<\/p>\n
RUSH: No. It doesn\u2019t. And I think that one of the desires is, on the part of establishment Washingtonians, is that after so much time goes by, that you Trump supporters are just gonna get tired and abandon him or just give up and not care because nothing\u2019s changing even after this election. And I think the one thing you all can do is demonstrate however you do it that you are with Trump, that you\u2019re not wavering, that this is not causing you to weaken or lose resolve in any way, shape, manner, or form. You\u2019re never gonna be able to change the media, if that was gonna be your next question. I\u2019m just assuming it was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, hi, Rush. Mega dittos. So I\u2019m watching Fox News this morning, and the host is talking about the wiretapping tweets from the president and the news stories leading up to it and the firestorm since then. And they asked a liberal guest, “So do you think these stories are more fake news?” And the guest replied with, “No, they\u2019re not fake news stories because a lot of these news stories have already yielded results. They\u2019ve had consequences in the form of Flynn\u2019s resignation and Sessions\u2019 recusal.” And so they\u2019re using the administration\u2019s response to some of these stories to lend credence to the original fake news. I think the administration needs to stop responding and stop giving them anything.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, this is an excellent point that you bring up, Donna. And I don\u2019t think I\u2019m speaking out of school when I tell you that President Trump was outraged when he learned that Sessions had recused himself. When Sessions recused himself, Trump was on the aircraft carrier. He was visiting the USS Gerald Ford. And when he got back to the Oval Office and found out that Sessions had recused himself from everything — you know, Sessions, in January during his confirmation hearing went ahead and told the Senate that he would not participate in any forthcoming, upcoming investigation of Hillary.<\/p>\n
And then he recused on this Russia business on the basis of one of the biggest bunch of nothing news reports ever, that he had met with the Russian ambassador in Cleveland during the Republican convention. And Trump — I\u2019m not speaking out of school — was livid. I mean, heads almost rolled over this. Trump doesn\u2019t think Sessions should have recused himself from anything.<\/p>\n
Now, Flynn, the problem there was that Flynn did not tell the whole truth to Mike Pence, the vice president. I wish Flynn had not gone. I wish that hadn\u2019t happened. I wish Sessions hadn\u2019t recused himself from anything. The Flynn thing, yeah, Trump was instrumental in that. And he may have been in the Sessions, too, and this is just cover, but I don\u2019t think so. I think he was genuinely mad about that.<\/p>\n
Trump wants a team of fighters. He wants a team of people that understand what they\u2019re up against and who\u2019s out to get them, to stop them, to destroy them, to impede them or what have you. Unfortunately what your left-wing guest on Fox News said may not be totally accurate, but it does feed a perception: Sessions recuses, yeah, he did something wrong. Flynn resign, yeah, he did something wrong. Not good. So your instinct on this is right on the money. And I am glad you called.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
