Rush, as you make political hay out of this CBS story, where is your outrage against an administration that continues to prosecute a war on bogus intelligence and phony documents? I mean, everything that you\u2019ve ascribed to Dan Rather, you could just as easily be talking about President Bush [sic] and nobody was ever held accountable in this administration. On the contrary, George Tenet was given the Medal of Freedom — and yes, there was an agenda to invade Iran [sic]. I mean Iraq. We had the agenda of the project of a new American Century. The president has been advised by the likes of Wolfowitz, Perle and– <\/line>RUSH: Wait just a second. This liberal propaganda is going to have to find another outlet. I\u2019m not going to put up with this. The yellow cake business was proved to be true. The British intelligence agencies stand by it to this day. You\u2019re talking about an affair involving the corrupt Joe Wilson and his CIA wife Valerie Plame. As far as plans to invade Iraq, yeah, go back and listen to Bill Clinton in 1998, and tell me the difference between what Clinton said and what George W. Bush said, and George Tenet was the CIA director then. Go back and listen to John Kerry and Tom Daschle and everything they said in 1998, November or December, and \u201999 about invading Iraq based on weapons of mass destruction. You, sir, are the one who wished to see political outcomes first. You want to conclude the administration is lying. You spent a whole campaign, you and your cronies, attempting to convince the American people of it and they don\u2019t buy it. I\u2019ve got a piece. I\u2019ll tell you what, you guys are flailing at thin air. There\u2019s a piece — I normally don\u2019t quote from this guy, because he\u2019s an absolute just over-the-top kook, and I have deigned years and years ago to not mention this guy, but I\u2019m going to go ahead and do it now because it dovetails perfectly, Jack, with your phone call. Robert Scheer in the LA Times today advances the theory that Al-Qaeda does not exist.<\/line><\/p>\n

Al-Qaeda is just a bogeyman. “Is it conceivable,” he begins, “that Al Qaeda, as defined by President Bush as the center of a vast and well-organized international terrorist conspiracy, does not exist? To even raise the question amid all the officially inspired hysteria is heretical, especially in the context of the U.S. media\u2019s supine acceptance of administration claims relating to national security. Yet a brilliant new BBC film produced by one of Britain\u2019s leading documentary filmmakers–” probably their version of Mary Mapes, “–systematically challenges this and many other accepted articles of faith in the so-called war on terror.” The name of this documentary, “The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear.” It\u2019s a three hour historical film by Adam Curtis. “It argues coherently that much of what we have been told about the threat of international terrorism “is a fantasy that has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It is a dark illusion that has spread unquestioned through governments around the world, the security services and the international media.”<\/line>Isn\u2019t it interesting who the left now turns to for their source authorities? Filmmakers! I guess Michael Moore has run his course. Now we gotta go get somebody from the respectable so-called BBC named Adam Curtis who claims that Al-Qaeda is a figment of our imaginations, it\u2019s been foisted on us by a bunch of conspiratorial governments for the purposes of more government power, the erosion of civil rights, the killing of innocent women and children and so forth — and of course it\u2019s not just the U.S. that\u2019s involved in this. The British are involved and all of the coalition partners are involved in this, and I guess we would have to include Bill Clinton and John Kerry and all the other Democrats in 1998 who signed on to this, and I guess we\u2019d have to include all the Democrats who signed onto use-of-force authorization that they demanded Bush let them vote on again in 2002. “The documentary does not doubt that an embittered, well-connected and wealthy Saudi man named Osama bin Laden helped finance various affinity groups of Islamist fanatics that have engaged in terror, including the 9\/11 attacks. Nor does it challenge the notion that a terrifying version of fundamentalist Islam has led to gruesome spates of violence throughout the world. But the film, both more sober and more deeply provocative than Michael Moore\u2019s ‘Fahrenheit 9\/11,\u2019 directly challenges the conventional wisdom by making a powerful case that the Bush administration, led by a tight-knit cabal of Machiavellian neoconservatives…” Read: Jews. Is what that means. “…has seized upon the false image of a unified international terrorist threat to replace the expired Soviet empire in order to push a political agenda.”<\/line>Now, keep in mind, this is coming from the same people who said that George Bush did not do enough to stop the 9\/11 attackers, that George Bush was responsible. Remember all those presidential daily briefings at the 9\/11 Commission? That whole commission was impaneled to try to blame Bush for not doing enough to stop 9\/11. Now all of a sudden there is nothing really serious to worry about. It\u2019s all a conceived and concocted conspiracy based around one lonely Saudi terrorist, Osama bin Laden, and that attack has been used to destroy civil rights, murder innocent women and children around the world, and basically empower a bunch of rich Republican Jews in America. Folks, I\u2019m tired of this word “neocon.” Let\u2019s get it out on the table. When you hear the word “neocon” used by anybody, it just means Jews, Republican Jews. That\u2019s what neocon means. You\u2019re going to have people argue with me about it, it may be a larger definition to some people, but the people who use that term pejoratively are talking about not Democrat, not liberal Jews, Republican Jews. Wolfowitz, Kristol, Richard Perle, these are the people that are blamed for getting us all into this, and it\u2019s all about… Well, you can take it from there. I don\u2019t need to add any more to it. <\/line>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line><\/p>\n

All right, we just heard from Robert Scheer in the LA Times quoting this Adam Curtis documentary, the BBC, that Al-Qaeda is a figment of our imagination. That there is no giant, well-organized, well-oiled terrorist organization around the world wreaking havoc on the free people of the world. There is a bin Laden, and he is blowing people up, but it\u2019s no big deal. Uh, I wonder how Mr. Scheer will react to the next story. It\u2019s in the New York Sun today. The headline: Richard Clarke Lays Out His Dark Vision. “In the next six…” and Richard Clarke is one of their heroes, because Richard Clarke was one of the early arrivals to bring down Bush at the 9\/11 Commission hearings. You\u2019ll remember this, and he was one of the people that CBS turned over 60 Minutes to his book as they did the Bush bash Book of the Month Club for three months running during the 9\/11 Commission hearings. <\/line> So Richard Clarke\u2019s one of these heroes, one of these guys that Robert Scheer no doubt has written glorious things about. Scheer doesn\u2019t think that there\u2019s a giant conspiracy, and Richard Clarke says, “In the next six years, Al Qaeda will launch terrible attacks on America\u2019s casinos, shopping malls, and rail lines. The federal government will intern tens of thousands of Muslims in remote facilities and issue national identification cards. The price of oil will spike to more than $80 a barrel, and rebel forces will launch a successful coup in Saudi Arabia. And one more thing: Iran will obtain an A-bomb. That\u2019s the vision of the future in a lengthy cover story in the current Atlantic Monthly by former counterterrorism tsar Richard Clarke, who predicts the American economy – not to mention civil liberties – will decline precipitously after a second wave of attacks that he says Al Qaeda will launch this year. Written as the transcript for a fictional lecturer, Roger McBride, giving a 10th annual September 11 address to the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Mr. Clarke drives his point home when he writes, ‘No one could stand here today, in 2011, and say that America has won the war on terror.'”<\/line>So which is it? Is this true, or is it the Adam Curtis BBC documentary true? You\u2019d have to say that both guys find themselves on the left side of the center aisle in America and world politics, and here\u2019s doom and gloom from Dickie Clarke. Tens of thousands of Muslims will be in remote facilities interned, national ID cards will be issued, oil over 80 bucks a barrel, and Iran will get the A-bomb, and war on terror cannot be won. Robert Scheer, quoting a documentary person from the BBC saying there really is no war on terror; it\u2019s a war on a figment of our imagination. This is the American left today, folks, so bamboozled, so out of sorts, so unable to gaze upon the truth and see it. I don\u2019t care where they look. <\/line>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line>Some details here from Richard Clarke\u2019s latest forecast. He predicts that Al-Qaeda — which, again, Robert Scheer says is a figment of our imagination — “will use Southeast Asians who infiltrate from Canada to blow up a casino in Las Vegas. He predicts that Al Qaeda will form a North America branch that will issue communiques taking credit for a chemical plant explosion in Delaware. He also says Mr. bin Laden\u2019s organization will target shopping malls, and that the terrorist group will launch massive cyber attacks on America\u2019s digital infrastructure.” <\/line>This is all in our future, according to Richard Clarke, and yet many on the left now believe that this is all been a concoction, a figment of big government imagination to kill women and children and destroy civil rights — and, by the way, I guess, intern Muslims, probably in the California mudslide regions. <\/line>END TRANSCRIPT<\/line>*Note: Links to content outside RushLimbaugh.com usually become inactive over time.<\/emphasize><\/line><\/p>\n
