(program observer interruption) What’s offensive about it? The truth. What’s offensive? It tells the truth. It simply illuminates what is happening in much of the public school system today with the left’s intelligentsia and academia in control of things. (program observer interruption) Yeah. So there was a prayer here, “So, Lord, the silent plea I make should I be shot my soul please take.” Those last two lines gave them the grounds to go after this as a prayer, and,” of course, prayer in public schools, blah, blah, blah, blah. But forget the last two lines because that’s what got ’em in trouble but the rest of this is true. It’s what I said yesterday: the last thing the left can stand is the truth being identified and broadcast about it. They just can’t deal with that. Their whole business, their whole reason for existence is to camouflage that and to deny and it put something else out instead.</line>
Let me repeat something I said toward the end of yesterday’s program, and I did this in the context of Bush, this whole values question. There’s a philosophy, life philosophy about how to live your life, and there are two kinds of people. Well, there’s actually more than that, but for this example there’s two kinds of people. There are people who want to be known for what they do, and they have this Do List, this r?sum?, and wherever they go and to whomever they speak, all they talk about is what they’ve done, where they’ve been, what their accomplishments are in their own minds. But who they are is seldom defined by that once you get to know those kinds of people. The other group simply exists, and the word I use, they “be.” They be who they are. There are be-ers and doers, and some people just be, and they’re known for who they are first, and then what they do is an adjunct. </line>
Now, the left in this country is primarily always associated with the first example, the do list. These are the people that are always talking about what they must say, what they must do. In fact, if you listen to the talk coming out of liberal citadels today, as they try to figure out their plight in the American political scene, it’s all featured around what do they have to do in order to get back to where they want to be? What do they have to do? What do they have to say? In other words, what do they have to phony up? What do they have to do next to fool people? They don’t dare ask, “Who do we have to be to get back in a position of power?” because that’s something they can never allow to be seen, who they really are. That’s why they shrink from the label “liberal” when you call ’em that. “No, I’m not! Why do you have to start insulting people and calling them names? Why can’t you just, you know, call me ‘progressive’ or ‘moderate’? I’m not a liberal.”</line>

Yet you call a conservative a conservative and he’ll be proud and flex his muscles and say, “Yep, I’m happy to admit I’m conservative. It’s who I am. It’s not what I do; it’s who I am,” and so this prayer is just hits the bull’s eye with who these people are, what they’ve done to the public school system, and probably — this is 1992 — you could probably add some things to this poem now that have also been done in the time since this was written. Now, the lore is you never know who originates these things. The lore is that a kid in Arizona wrote that prayer back in 1992, but it’s impossible to know. You might have now 50,000 people claiming credit for it. We’ll never know. It doesn’t matter who did it. It doesn’t matter who wrote it. A high school principal came across this and said, “Wow!” Think of it: In Athens, Georgia, for a high school principal to see this it must have rung true. It must have rung true because of the frustrations that he goes through trying to run a school with all these things that are permitted weighed against these things that aren’t.</line>
And it does seem that all of the aberrant decadence that anybody wants is allowed, and any <emphasize>limit </emphasize>on that with any kind of authority behind the limitation is <emphasize>verboten</emphasize>, not allowed, can’t do it because they’re not allowed to judge somebody’s morality. Ergo we get this election where values played a center role in the outcome. Now, the fact that the principal read this over the intercom and had to apologize for it is fine. At least he read it. I can understand him apologizing. Everybody’s got to have a job; he’s got some priorities, but he got it done and people heard this, and then the people that were upset about it, we know who they are. They have identified themselves, too. This is all good. This is all part of the evolutionary process taking place in an historical fashion right before our very eyes. We don’t appreciate the historical significance of this because we’re living it — and, of course, we don’t have time; we’ve got more things to do than sit around and dwell on the historical shifts taking place, particularly when the historical shift is the result of many actions and thoughts and beliefs held by people like us. </line>
But I assure you this is just a slight little example of a <emphasize>dramatic </emphasize>historical shift that’s taking place in the country in a number of citadels owned and operated by the left. There’s a couple of interesting stories in the stack today. We had recent discussions of how conservative professors are outnumbered by liberal professors, in some cases 30 to 1 in certain departments at universities. Seven to one is the nationwide average. You have the pop culture totally dominated by the left, movies and music and entertainment, television, that sort of thing. The news media which <emphasize>was </emphasize>a monopoly dominated by the left — and yet people are asking, “How come those people are unable to persuade anybody?” Why don’t those…? Because the argument is this: The smartest people in the world are liberals, i.e. the professors and the teachers in school. The smartest people in the world are liberals. </line>
They must know something we all don’t know, and yet they have <emphasize>full </emphasize>access to the skulls full of mush that come into their classrooms throughout high school, throughout college, and yet this election when it came time to get out the youth vote, i.e., the students of the smartest people in the world, they didn’t go vote. <emphasize>Why are they not influencing people? </emphasize>Why are the smartest people in the world not influencing the skulls full of mush out there? How come the smartest people in the world find themselves on the losing end of elections since 1994? Why is this happening? By the same token, the <emphasize>stupidest </emphasize>people in the world are you and any and all of you who live in the red states or who live in red cities in blue states. <emphasize>You </emphasize>are stupid. You are an infantile; you’re a backwoods hick; you’re a holy roller or what have you, and yet it is the red state population which is having a much greater time and much greater success at <emphasize>persuading </emphasize>other people than the smartest people in the world. </line>
How can this be? And there’s all kinds of speculation. There’s worried speculation in many articles in my stack of stuff — well, a couple — worried about how this can be, and George Neumayr, George Neumayr who is the managing editor of the American Spectator Online, has a piece on this today. He says it’s not just the smartest people in the world happen to be on the left, it’s also the stupidest. The stupidest people are on the left. The illiterates also vote Democrat along with the smartest people in the world. The less educated you are the more you vote Democrat. The more educated you are they say you vote Democrat. How come they keep losing? How come they’re unable to persuade anybody, particularly these professors and so forth, the smartest people in the world? Well, it’s an interesting question. I think the answer is rather obvious. The first answer is they’re <emphasize>not </emphasize>the smartest people in the world. </line>
They may be some of the most blind people in the world. They are <emphasize>not </emphasize>open to other ideas. They do not run “educational institutions;” they run little indoctrination centers. They are never challenged. They are just like the mainstream press: Upper academia is never challenged on what they believe. Students can’t do it at least at the risk of their grades. Their peers don’t do it because their peers are just like them in academia, so who challenges them? I mean, I’m sure that you’ve been a student of one of these professors and you’ve been in his class or her class and you’ve heard some of the most idiotic things. You’ve heard conspiracy theories that are popularized in some of the stupidest sectors of the left come out of your professor’s mouth at institutions of higher learning, and you’re scratching your head. “I thought this person is supposed to be smarter than I am. Why is this person falling for these idiotic conspiracy theories?”</line>
The first answer is: They are <emphasize>not </emphasize>the smartest people in the world; they just think they are. They’re typically arrogant; they’re typically condescending. The reason they’re not persuading anybody is because they’re not really trying. They think it’s just the way things are. They don’t think they have to persuade, because they think that’s the way everybody else is. They’ve never been challenged; they’ve never been forced to persuade — and as such, they haven’t mastered the way to talk to real people. They don’t know how to talk to real people. They talk above them, around them, underneath them, over them, what have you, but they never get down and actually know how to talk <emphasize>to people</emphasize>, and that’s a large thing, a large factor to what’s happened to the left. I think, as I said, there’s been a 180-degree role reversal. It’s always been said the liberals and the Democrats are the people who have the most in common with the average American, the poor American, the disenfranchised American. It’s just the opposite. </line>
They are so far removed from what people think, even they are talking about have to get out of New York and Washington now to get out and find about real people. They’ve got to send news correspondents, <emphasize>? la</emphasize> foreign correspondents out into the red states to find out what real Americans actually think, and yet they get along with this idea that they are the ones that have this common ground with these people? They don’t. They are so far removed and they’re so far removed because they <emphasize>want </emphasize>to be removed. They want to be elitist. They want to be thought of as better than everybody else. They think of themselves as better than everybody else and when you do that, it’s tough to suffer fools. They <emphasize>deign </emphasize>on occasion to entertain what these fools might think, but it’s only to impugn and ridicule them for thinking it, not to discuss it with them. So it’s a fascinating thing. This poem caused trouble <emphasize>precisely because it is the truth</emphasize>, and it is the truth about the American left today and what they’ve done to the public education system. This is a big step that was taken, this principal reading this and even his apology and now all of this having been called attention to on national radio in the new media. It’s now gone beyond the Internet, folks.</line>
BREAK TRANSCRIPT</line>

RUSH: Danville, California. Let’s go to the phones and Ken. Welcome to the EIB Network. Great to have you with us.</line>
CALLER: Pleasure to speak with you this morning, Mr. Limbaugh.</line>
RUSH: Thank you, sir.</line>
CALLER: You’re dancing around one item, but I didn’t see you make the direct connection, and so I just wanted to make an observation if I could —</line>
RUSH: Sure, feel free.</line>
CALLER: — and that is there’s frustration when a liberal is not able to persuade a non-liberal, and that frustration leads them to conclude that the non-liberals must be stupid.</line>
RUSH: Okay. I’ll accept that.</line>
CALLER: In other words, their inability to persuade — there’s only one answer, Rush. “They must be stupid.”</line>
RUSH: Well, okay if you want to take it in that direction, fine, but my point is they don’t even know how to persuade. I think your point is very good. I just don’t think they’re even trying to persuade. They’re trying to pontificate. They are preaching. They are indoctrinating and when people don’t get it they just assume, as you say, that they’re <emphasize>stupid. </emphasize>The whole point is they don’t care enough. They’re not really sensitive enough to really try to persuade. They’re not into it. They don’t deign to think they have to stoop so low as to persuade because liberalism doesn’t need to be persuaded. Liberalism is just what somebody ought to be born thinking, and if you don’t grow up thinking…</line>
CALLER: The natural way, isn’t it?</line>
RUSH: Yes, it’s the natural way. It’s just what is. Everything else is the aberration. Everything else is what’s abnormal and odd. Liberalism is just as normal as breathing air to them. I mean, you don’t have to persuade somebody to breathe air, do you? They just do it. Liberals look at politics the same way. If you don’t breathe the air, there’s no way to persuade you, just get it, just an idiot. If they knew how to persuade, and they have too much hubris to learn how to do this. If they knew how to persuade they would be a little bit more dangerous than they are, but they’ve never been challenged on any of their beliefs until recently. For the longest time, they’ve been allowed to assume that what they believe is right and accurate, and it doesn’t <emphasize>have </emphasize>to be proven. It doesn’t <emphasize>have </emphasize>to be established. It is because they say it is.</line>
CALLER: That’s why reality —</line>
RUSH: And then when that doesn’t work that’s when they get shrill. That’s when they start yelling and screaming and that’s when they get really frustrated and come up with propaganda movies, and it’s when they come up with all kinds of 527 organizations making outrageous claims: <emphasize>Anything </emphasize>to get through to people, but it isn’t persuasion.</line>
CALLER: I couldn’t agree more.</line>
RUSH: Okay, thanks for the call. I appreciate it. </line>
END TRANSCRIPT </line>

Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd.
