\"\"RUSH: By the way, folks, last night on the Senate floor and on the House floor I — your beloved host, Rush Limbaugh — was blamed for people losing food stamps in the last eight years. I, Rush Limbaugh. Senator Dick Durbin took out after me, and Marc Veasey, Democrat from Texas. They both blamed me for, A, attacking labor unions and then promoting government shuts down, which led to food stamp cuts and so forth. Now why in the world would I be blamed on the floor of the House and Senate for something that happened during the Obama administration? What in the world is the politics of this? And the answer is two words: Fund… raising. But nevertheless I\u2019ll take it. It\u2019s a badge of honor.<\/p>\n

I just wish my parents were alive hear their son\u2019s name regaled on the Senate floor.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here. Let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites. Last night, Senate floor, during debate on the nomination of Mick Mulvaney. He\u2019s a Republican from South Carolina, to be director of the Office of Management and Budget, and he\u2019s gonna make it. Here\u2019s Dick Durbin of Illinois, again, debate on the nomination of the guy to be director of OMB.<\/p>\n

DURBIN: When Mr. Mulvaney and the Republicans succeeded in shutting the government for 16 days in 2013, it cost the American economy $20 billion. Do you remember that? Rush Limbaugh got on his radio show and said if they shut down the government, no one will even notice. Well, guess what, Mr. Limbaugh. They noticed. People struggling to survive in America who relied on programs like food stamps, they had their food in jeopardy and in danger —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute.<\/p>\n

DURBIN: — because Congressman Mulvaney and his friends thought that a display of political power here shutting down the government was just the right recipe for America.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute! These clowns told us throughout all these shutdowns, 16 days, big whoop, that no welfare was ever affected, right? There was no welfare checks interrupted, food stamps, nothing. There weren\u2019t any cutbacks. There wasn\u2019t a suspension of food stamps being available. He is lying through his teeth here, to blame this on me. (imitating Durban) “Mr. Limbaugh got on his radio show and said if they shut down the government, nobody will notice.” They don\u2019t notice it when they are not told about it. You would be amazed at the number of times the government is actually shut down for arcane budgetary, constitutional reasons. It happens a lot, and if you don\u2019t know about it, it doesn\u2019t affect you, only when there\u2019s a bunch of media hype.<\/p>\n

But they\u2019ve always said that no impact ever comes. Last time they said that was it was starving kids in \u201995 and that budget deal. But to throw me in the mix. (laughing) It just means, folks, that the mention of my name forces lunatic liberals to go to their checkbooks and start writing checks to Democrats. That\u2019s what this means. It has to. Well, there may be a little bit more than that, but that\u2019s clearly part of it.<\/p>\n

Now let\u2019s go to the House. This is during general speeches when members get up there and start blabbing. It was last night, and this is Congressman Marc Veasey, Democrat, Texas, talking about jobs and labor unions.<\/p>\n

VEASEY: One of the reasons why we\u2019ve seen the decline of pay in this country is because the Republicans and their efforts to undermine labor. When you start talking about undermining labor and when you turn on these talk radio shows, you turn on the Rush Limbaugh Show, they\u2019re always talking about how bad unions are in this country. Think about the middle class jobs that many of these union shops brought to all communities, whether they were — it was the white community, the Hispanic community, the black, they allow people to be able to put some food on the table.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Who was it that wrote off the white working class in the last election? The Democrat Party starting with an op-ed by Thomas B. Edsall that ran in the New York Times in November of 2011<\/a>. They announced it as a campaign strategy. They were gonna ignore white working-class voters and instead throw in with what they thought was gonna be a majority of all the minorities in this country combined into one giant coalition.<\/p>\n

But even beyond that, how do I make this up? That\u2019s right, I\u2019m taking food off people\u2019s tables. That\u2019s exactly right. People want to put food on the table and I am taking food out of the mouths of babies, I\u2019m taking food off their tables \u2019cause I have criticized unions at some point. All of this going on during Obama\u2019s eight years. So I guess we were more effective than we knew in gumming up the works of the Obama Regime.
