Nice to have you on the program, sir, welcome.</line>
</line>
CALLER: Thank you, Rush. I appreciate you taking my call. I wanted to comment on the deal with President Bush not going with the NAA[L]CP.</line>
</line>
RUSH: Yes.</line>
</line>
CALLER: I’m just wondering why wouldn’t he go. I understand the things that was said, but I mean it’s the press, you know, and why wouldn’t he take this opportunity to get a little bit more domestic in his policies. I know the Iraqi war is his thing right now and it’s a big part of what’s going on in his administration. But I was wondering why wouldn’t he want to strengthen his domestic views with the black community.</line>
</line>
RUSH: I actually think that he believes, well, I shouldn’t say it that way because I don’t know what he believes. I’ll tell you what I think. I think it would be a waste of time to try to reach the black community through the NAA[L]CP. I don’t think that’s how they’re going to do it, that’s not the way you reach out to them because that’s not the black community in there. That’s black leaders, and the things they have said about Bush and the things they’ve said about Republicans over the years, these are the people that want the UN to come in and monitor elections in this country in November because they don’t trust the American electoral system, the election system. There’s nothing to be gained there, and you don’t want him going — I wouldn’t want him going in there with a bunch of boos and catcalls and have that be the video that everybody sees that the media would plaster all over everywhere. It would be a setup. There’s nothing to be gained. That’s not the way to reach the so-called black community by going in and talking to that crowd.</line>
</line>
CALLER: Well, I’m not very familiar with the NAA[L]CP, but, you know, it just seems to me that it’s just not being, the message that this is excellent, an excellent idea not to go is just and, I don’t know, it’s just something that just doesn’t sit right with me. Like I said, I understand that —</line>
</line>
RUSH: You know, there’s some people that have this attitude that you reach out to your enemies and you do everything you can to keep them close and try to explain why they’re wrong about you. I think in his mind, Bush has done this, and it’s not worked. I want to read some things to you here in a minute because I don’t know if you heard this. But I think when they portrayed him as participating in the murder, the hate crime murder of James Byrd, who was lynched by being dragged behind an automobile in chains, and when they ran radio commercials in St. Louis, in fact, where you are, accusing Republicans if they win elections, Bush being president, more black churches will burn and this sort of stuff. Then you have this. And this was in June.</line>
“In remarks to hundreds of cheering liberal activists Wednesday, NAA[L]CP Chairman Julian Bond singled out Republicans as enemies of black Americans and compared conservatives to the terrorist Taliban who once ruled Afghanistan.</line>
‘Their idea of equal rights is the American flag and the Confederate swastika flying side by side,’ Bond told a cheering audience. ‘They’ve written a new constitution for Iraq and ignore the Constitution here at home. They draw their most rabid supporters from the Taliban wing of American politics. Now they want to write bigotry back into the Constitution.'”</line>
The best way to understand this, Darrell, you say you don’t know what the NAA[L]CP is, forget it as a racial group, it’s not really racial, it’s a liberal group. Bush doesn’t go to other liberal groups and talk to them. He’s not going to spend his time going to MoveOn.org and trying to talk to them. He’s not going to call George Soros and have a meeting. He’s not going to call Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy up and say, hey, we need to talk about my election. </line>

Why go to the NAA[L]CP? These people are in the back pocket of the Democratic Party. They are a Democrat Party organization. They serve at the pleasure of the Democrat Party. They have no power without the Democrat Party. They’re not going to forget or leave the Democrat Party – not the NAA[L]CP. Now, if we’re talking about just the black population of the country, there are other ways to reach them than this. This is not the way to do it and I think he’s been trying to do that in a number of different ways.</line>
</line>
CALLER: Okay. I mean, it seems to me that would at least show, as far as I’m concerned, it would at least show that President Bush does have some parts of a domestic agenda when it comes to– </line>
</line>
RUSH: Well, see, there we have another divide. Because, let me tell you what the domestic agenda of the NAA[L]CP is. The domestic agenda of the NAA[L]CP is tax increases, it is more welfare, it is bigger government, it is expanded entitlement programs, it is everything Bush disagrees with. They’re just a liberal Democrat organization. Take the race out of it. That’s why I’ve put the L in the title of the group, the National Association for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People. And, by the way, there are plenty of blacks in this country the NAA[L]CP doesn’t support and will actively try and destroy, such as Clarence Thomas. There are numerous others. If you don’t toe the line with this group, you’re going to be a target. There’s nothing for Bush to be gained politically by going there.</line>
</line>
Now, what I hear you saying is that the black population of the country may watch this, see Bush there, and think he cares. Well, that’s imagery and not substance, it’s just spin and buzz. The Bush domestic agenda is helpful to every American and human being. It doesn’t matter what color they are. I’ve got to tell you something, Darrell. You know, a lot of us are sort of fed up with the idea that depending on the color of your skin there’s a different domestic agenda for you, because you’re a different kind of human being. If you’re black, you can’t do as well as a white can and the black community is enforcing that because they want affirmative action, they want quotas, and so we need a different domestic agenda for blacks and we need a different domestic agenda for illegal aliens, and we need a different domestic agenda for Hispanics, and we need a different domestic agenda for women, and we need a different domestic agenda for, you know, one armed amputees at the corner of 4th and Central in Omaha. I mean, where does this stuff stop? We’re all human beings and we’re all Americans. And we are and we are distinctly Americans and we all react because we have freedom. We all seek and desire the same things.</line>
</line>
The arguments we have in this country, are not about what we want, the arguments are about how we get them. You know, liberalism versus conservatism can be boiled down to something real simple. Conservatives believe that we all have needs and wants, the best way to satisfy them is to use your own ambition, coupled with the freedom this country is blessed with, get government and other obstacles out of the way and become who you want and who you are, and be the best you can. </line>
Liberalism believes that’s not possible. Liberalism buildings that it’s unfair because some people are going to do better than others. Liberal believes the best way to get people what they need, forget what they want, is for government to provide it all. Or most of it. Because in that sense it will be fair and it will be equally distributed. It will also spread misery equally because nobody will have succeeded, nobody will have reached their potential, nobody will have met their own expectations, nobody will have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, because it won’t be permitted. And that’s exactly what the NAA[L]CP is. If somebody goes outside their prescriptions and succeeds, they’re an enemy. If Clarence Thomas or somebody becomes the most powerful black person in America and didn’t do it via affirmative action, that’s a threat, and he’s got to be dispatched or done away with, discredited somehow.</line>
</line>
Now, the Bush domestic agenda treats every American as a human being, equal, there is no different agenda for the black community, there’s no different agenda here. Now, you can have programs as part of the agenda that do take advantage of people who, because they’ve been subjected to liberalism for so long, have not developed skills that will let them be the best they can be. They’ve not developed skills to seek out using freedom, their own potential. And so you have programs designed to teach them that. But even those are considered threats by the American left. You know, I mean we would all love a beach house, we’d all love three cars or four cars in the garage. You’re never going to get that with liberalism, you’re going to going to get it because there’s not enough money. There’s not enough money to redistribute, there’s not enough money to tax, because once you tax the producers they’re not going to produce anymore, why start producing if it’s all going to be taken away and given away, there’s no incentive. That’s liberalism for you. And it gets worse as it gets into socialism. It gets even worse as it deteriorates further. And the reason liberals love this is because that’s their primary source of power. They’re in charge of everybody’s happiness. They’re in charge of everybody’s needs. Man, when you need government to get by, how powerful is government? How powerful are the people in it? </line>

Why do you think John Edwards is running around talking about two Americas? He’s trying to make half this country think they’ve got no chance, half is country is being screwed. He wants half this country to think that because there are people who have achieved, that’s why they’re not achieving in the other half of the country, and John Edwards and John Kerry are going to equal that balance and make it fair. How they going to do it? They’re not going to help the lower half do any better. They are going to take away from the people who have achieved well and make everybody equally miserable. Liberalism does not seek to elevate those at the bottom and make them higher on the ladder. It seeks to take those higher on the ladder and bring ’em down a peg or two, a rung or two, because it isn’t fair. Now, if Bush would say this to these guys, I would love to see it. But he’s not going to say this to these guys because all he’s going to do is get booed and catcalled. You know, Bill Cosby would get booed and catcalled at this thing, saying what he’s been saying recently. </line>
</line>
This is a liberal Democrat group. Forget that it has anything to do with race, because it doesn’t. The NAA[L]CP has power in this country for one reason and one reason only, the people in the NAA[L]CP, the leaders make sure that the black community votes 90% Democrat every four years. The Democrat Party gives the NAA[L]CP leaders a seat at their the table of power. And that’s it, and labor, the same thing, teaches the same thing, trial lawyers the same thing, you deliver that group you deliver that group you deliver that group and you get a seat of power at our table. The Democrat Party is a amalgamation of different constituency groups that have a few things in common but not a lot, but the things they have in common are very powerful, and they all include the enrichment, empowerment of government over the individual and that’s not the way the country was built, it’s not the way we’re going to continue to prosper, and we haven’t even talked about foreign policy in all this yet. But when you get to the NAA[L]CP, the people they idolize and throw parties for are Fidel Castro and other despots and dictators around the world. And the people they distrust are those who are interested in freedom for their people. </line>
It’s just a sad thing. It’s a sad truth, it’s a sad reality, but there’s nothing to gain from Bush going there, and especially when you look at what they have said about him in television ads, in speeches. I mean, why reward them? He’s the president of the United States. Why reward them with his presence? His task is to find a way around these people, not to convert them.</line>
COMMERCIAL BREAK</line>

This is Wilma in Kansas City. Hi, Wilma, nice to have you with us.</line>
</line>
CALLER: I’m a little nervous.</line>
</line>
RUSH: Well, I understand that, but you know what? Here’s what I always used to say, Wilma, to first-time callers. Just pretend that your husband is there, your boyfriend, with a mink glove on your back. That’s how this experience is going to feel to you.</line>
</line>
CALLER: Okay. Okay, Rush, you are so right. He should not go to this NAA, what is it, LCP?</line>
</line>
RUSH: LCP, yes.</line>
</line>
CALLER: No. It will be used as a sound bite for a Kerry ad. And it will say “Kerry: A candidate for all the people of America.” No, he’s doing the right thing.</line>
</line>
RUSH: Well, I’m glad you understand that. That’s heartwarming.</line>
</line>
CALLER: Yeah.</line>
</line>
RUSH: Hey, you did very well, by the way. That was not hard, was it?</line>
</line>
CALLER: No.</line>
</line>
RUSH: No, because you said what you meant to say. You said it with passion, so you didn’t have time to be nervous. You didn’t sound nervous all, Wilma.</line>
</line>
CALLER: No, but I want to thank you, because I’m a black American. My mind started changing listening to you, and the first time I voted Republican it was so liberating. I voted for Reagan, and I was so proud, and I’ve been voting Republican ever since.</line>
</line>
RUSH: We love you, Wilma. We love you here. That’s great. You’ve got to go back. I try to go every time I’m there, don’t know when I’m going to get there next, but when I’m there I’m gonna go.
