RUSH: We have the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons and the Patriots. I saw Lady Gaga did a press conference promoting the upcoming halftime show. You know what Lady Gaga said? Lady Gaga said that she doesn\u2019t want the halftime show to be a step down in intensity. She said (paraphrased), \u201cYou got these guys out there,\u201d meaning the players, \u201cand they\u2019re just running collisions on each other every play! I mean, they\u2019re out there, they\u2019re trying to kill each other, and I don\u2019t want the halftime show to be any different.\u201d
\nOkay.<\/p>\n

Then she went on to say that it was definitely gonna be a statement.<\/p>\n

Well, we can pretty much assume what that statement\u2019s gonna be, and I, for one, don\u2019t care to see it. I don\u2019t care to have to come in here and talk about it on Monday. I\u2019m just not interested. It\u2019s too predictable. And I doubt that she\u2019ll have anything to say that would intrigue me or inspire me or do anything other than being totally predictable. But then there\u2019s the game analysis, and there\u2019s two ways to analyze this game: The X\u2019s and O\u2019s and on-field strategy, and then the intangibles, and then determining which of the two will have a greater impact on the outcome of the game: The X\u2019s and O\u2019s and the strategy, or the intangibles?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m voting for the intangibles.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, Super Bowl, quickly.\u00a0 Two ways to look at this game.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got the X\u2019s and O\u2019s strategy, on field strategy. Bill Belichick tries to take away the opposing team\u2019s strength and make the opposing team beat him with other people.\u00a0 That would be taking away Julio Jones, wide receiver for the Falcons.\u00a0 You go through all of that and then you come down to what you think the game\u2019s gonna be, best quarterback.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think that\u2019s the way to look at this.\u00a0 I think you have to look at the intangibles in this game, and I think the biggest intangible is the motivation of Tom Brady.\u00a0 There\u2019s a lot on the line for Tom Brady.\u00a0 He can become the first and only quarterback to win five Super Bowls.\u00a0 He can get rid of that Deflategate monkey on his back.\u00a0 His mother is ill and it took pretty much everything she had to get to this game.\u00a0 This is gonna be the first game of the season she\u2019s been to.\u00a0 He\u2019s a very centered guy in this regard.<\/p>\n

The entire Patriots team is similarly motivated on the Deflategate stuff, with the commissioner of the NFL being the anti-Christ.\u00a0 When you have that kind of motivation, when you have that kind of energy, when you have that kind of purpose and commitment, it takes a monumental effort to match it.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve watched games and you\u2019ve seen the momentum shift and you wonder why.\u00a0 I mean, teams come out of the gate looking like well-oiled machines and they\u2019re just going fast and in the middle of second quarter the game takes a total change, nobody can understand the momentum shift changes.\u00a0 If a coach could they\u2019d never be out of a job.\u00a0 But it\u2019s those kind of things that I think are gonna determine this game.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Falcons can beat the Patriots, there\u2019s no question in my mind.\u00a0 And the Falcons\u2019 skill position players can stick with the Patriots\u2019 skill position players all day.\u00a0 And then there\u2019s the intangible of injuries in the game. \u00a0You just don\u2019t know.\u00a0 But I think the motivational aspect, you might think, \u201cRush, they\u2019re pros.\u00a0 They don\u2019t need any more motivation.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s where everybody\u2019s wrong.\u00a0 Human beings are human beings, and there are things that get your adrenaline going even more than certain things do.\u00a0 Mark my words.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s gonna be a rout.\u00a0 Either way, it\u2019s gonna be a rout.<\/p>\n

And also this.\u00a0 \u201cSecretive Anti-Trump Protests to Erupt Super Bowl Weekend in Houston.<\/a>\u201d\u00a0 Keep a sharp eye.\u00a0 They\u2019re gonna be portrayed as organic and natural.\u00a0 Lady Gaga\u2019s practically telegraphing her halftime show as anti-Trump.\u00a0 The NFL has hired the cast of Hamilton to sing America, the Beautiful. They\u2019ll probably put Trump in the lyrics.\u00a0 If you\u2019re a Trump supporter you\u2019re probably gonna get pretty ticked off at stages watching this game.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see if I end up being right about how much of this.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 No, I\u2019m not predicting a winner. I\u2019m telling you, if things \u2014 well, I guess I am.\u00a0 I\u2019m saying the Patriots are gonna win if all things being equal.\u00a0 I just think the things motivating them are things the Falcons can\u2019t even approach for motivation, other than beating the Patriots.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
