I agree with you.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Oh, Okay.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: And I\u2019m going to tell you I agree with you that those countries need to be dealt with.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi_arabia_and_skull___bones.Par.0002.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"181\" height=\"193\" class=\"alignright\"\/> RUSH: But, they have to be dealt with in a different way. The Saudis, let\u2019s leave them out for just a second. The Egyptians as a nation are allies. Diplomatically they are allies, and the same with Pakistan, General Musharraf is one of our buds now, diplomatically. Now, they\u2019ve got renegade population packs and terrorist cells in those countries just like they\u2019re in Singapore, just like they\u2019re in the Philippines and we didn\u2019t put Philippines or Singapore on the list. Egypt is actually working with us behind the scenes to this very day to get rid of Yasser Arafat. There\u2019s so many things that are intertwined when you get into the diplomatic relations between nations.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Right.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Saudi Arabia, the first thing I said, I sent a note to Bill Buckley on September 12th, I said, &#8220;Damn, Bill, they\u2019re all Saudis.&#8221; They were all Saudis, and he wrote back and said, &#8220;So?&#8221; His point was it\u2019s not the Saudi government. Now, here\u2019s the truth about Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Arabian royal family genealogical tree goes from here to China. There are so many people in the Saudi royal family, and a lot of them are funding terrorists. And other elements of the Saudi royal family are doing what they can to stop it, but they can\u2019t because they can\u2019t do it easily. We have no quarrel with the government and the royal family of Saudi Arabia, but there are some renegades in there, and it\u2019s a tough thing. You put oil on top of that, and it makes it even tougher. But I think by now we should have been into Syria. I think by now we should have been on the border of Iran saying, &#8220;See what we\u2019ve done so far? You\u2019re next!&#8221; If we\u2019re serious about this.<\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Could I&#8211;<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Secondly? certainly, go ahead.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: Okay, I think President Bush gives good speeches. I listened to the speech in Colorado a few days ago. It\u2019s an excellent speech. I think it\u2019s very hypocritical though. One line which he uses a lot, that freedom and liberty are in the breast of every person and, you know, it\u2019s bigotry to think that the Arabs aren\u2019t ready for democracy, you know the line I\u2019m talking about, right?<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Yeah, but &#8212; <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: But my point is, my point is that\u2019s so blatantly hypocritical because we don\u2019t think that. I mean no American president, Democrat or Republican, but especially the Bush family, believes that these people, these Arab Muslim people are ready for democracy. It\u2019s so hypocritical to say that we\u2019re going liberate these people, this is in the interest of democracy, this is what everyone wants. The last thing that we want in Saudi Arabia or Egypt, or even Pakistan, which isn\u2019t an Arab country but a Muslim country, the last thing we want is democracy because we\u2019re afraid of what they\u2019ll get. <\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: I agree with you, because we don\u2019t have democracy here and I\u2019d be scared to death if we did.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: I don\u2019t mean direct, representative democracy &#8212;<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Well, that\u2019s not what we\u2019re talking about. Now, I\u2019ve gotta stop you there. Let\u2019s take this point by point. Number 1, Bush says that freedom is in the breast of every human being. I totally believe that because I believe in creation, I believe in the Spirit of God, and I believe the natural yearning of the human spirit is to be free. I\u2019ve never known anybody in prison, unless they\u2019ve been there for 20 years, who gets used to it and doesn\u2019t want out. Most people that are captive in any situation, whatever it is, want out of it. The natural yearning is to be free. That\u2019s all he\u2019s saying. That\u2019s what irritates people like Soros.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: We\u2019re propping up the very regime which keeps these people in chains.<\/line><\/p>\n<p><BR\/>RUSH: Where?<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>CALLER: The Saudi regime. The Saudi regime is not Saddam, I\u2019m not going make that connection &#8212;<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/saudi_arabia_and_skull___bones.Par.0007.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"193\" class=\"alignleft\"\/> RUSH: We don\u2019t have, now, wait a minute. You\u2019re going to have to apply a little common sense to this. You know, you\u2019re going to have to apply some degree of discrimination here. Discrimination used to be a good word. You have to be somewhat discriminating and have some reality woven into this. Bush is not speaking in platitudes. Now, when he talks about democracy in Iraq, he\u2019s not talking about Thomas Jeffersonian democracy because there\u2019s only one Thomas Jefferson. We are not so audacious as to believe that the miracle of America can be created overnight anywhere else in other cultures. We\u2019re talking about self-determination. <\/line><BR\/>If you want to get down to it, can I define this for you? Let\u2019s just get it on the table, to hell with the people in Iraq, we want a leader that likes us, we want a leader of Iraq that likes us. We want a leader of a country in the Middle East that will be an ally of ours, a genuine ally that agrees with us on the horrors and the dangers of terrorism, and will make a start on getting rid of the cauldron of hatred that exists in that region that produces these kids that grow up to be Mohammed Attas. We want a sympathetic leader. Nobody is arrogant enough to believe that just because we have shown up and gotten rid of a bad guy, that those people are going to start emulating James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington. Would be great if they did, but nobody is that stupid. <\/line><BR\/>Now, the fact is that you keep throwing Saudi Arabia in here, you have to understand something, and I think this is a point that the left can be made very vulnerable on, and that\u2019s oil. At the same time they say we shouldn\u2019t go anywhere for oil &#8212; no war for oil that involves Halliburton &#8212; oil is the fuel of freedom, oil is the fuel of the world. Whether it\u2019s right or wrong, whether it\u2019s good or bad, it has evolved that oil is the fuel of freedom. If you make oil off limits or if it is blown up, we got problems. So the reality is, we need it, we are a growing economy, our people want to be a growing economy, we need to find ways to get more of it, not cut back, not conserve, not find alternatives because we can\u2019t sustain a growing economy that way and our people have expectations. There\u2019s plenty of oil out there and there are other ways that we\u2019re going to be able to replace it in time, necessity being the mother of invention. Well, guess what? 80% of the known reserve happens to be sitting underneath the bathroom of the Saudi royal family. Well, that requires certain relationships. It\u2019s a case of priorities. <\/line><BR\/>Now, on the one hand, Al-Qaeda has roots in Saudi Arabia. It\u2019s also attacking Saudi Arabia. Al-Qaeda is also committing acts of terror against the Saudi royal family and bin Laden\u2019s original aim was to wipe them out because he\u2019s got a burr up his butt about something that happened to him and his family. It\u2019s all personal with him and the Saudis. They\u2019re not quite in the same boat as we are. Iraq is a different situation, Pakistan is a different situation, all these countries are different situations, just like World War II. You know, we were attacked by Japan and we went to Germany. We were all over the world in World War II and this is one of those things. We know what the objective here is, the objective is to find ways to eliminate the world of terrorists. Now, we\u2019re never going to fully do that, but you\u2019ve got to beat these cells and you\u2019ve got take out these networks and do what you can, and it\u2019s a long process. Bush knows it\u2019s going to survive whatever would be two of his terms, if we\u2019re serious about it, and it\u2019s a worthy objective, I think. I truly, truly do, always have, especially what we\u2019re doing in Iraq. But like you, I\u2019ve got questions and problems. I know what\u2019s going on in Egypt, but the Egyptian government is per se not doing it, the religious Imams are doing it in Egypt and we respect religious freedom and all this. It\u2019s very, very complicated. And that\u2019s why to focus on Bush as some sort of a dunderhead or hypocrite or what have you, is totally missing the point here of what\u2019s at stake and the objective that we all should have.
