I am astounded. Just yesterday, people were starving, just yesterday people were budgeting, local info babes down here on the local news were going out and camping out at gasoline stations in the economically depressed areas of town and interviewing people that drove up and these people said, &#8220;Ah, I can barely fill up. In fact I can\u2019t fill up I\u2019m getting half a tank and I got to walk more now.&#8221; We feel sorry for them and then the next day, &#8220;You fat slob you\u2019re not getting enough exercise you are obese!&#8221; Then we feel sorry for them because they have to go walk because of rising gasoline prices.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>So let\u2019s go to the audio sound bites. We\u2019ll start here with John Kerry, who starts out complaining that Bush isn\u2019t doing enough to force OPEC to lower prices. Now, I know you\u2019re going to scratch your heads, wait a minute, wasn\u2019t it just two months ago that he was complaining that Bush made a secret deal with the Saudis to lower prices? He was upset about it, now he\u2019s saying Bush isn\u2019t doing enough with OPEC? This is why, folks, they can\u2019t let this guy out. If anybody needs to be on a leash, it\u2019s this guy, his own campaign needs to be the people holding the leash. Because this guy is off the reservation, a little Indian lingo there, but I don\u2019t care. Listen to this bite. We\u2019ve got four bites here. This is the first of the four.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>KERRY: Where\u2019s the president who, when he was campaigning for president, said in New Hampshire, what we need is a president who jawbones OPEC to lower those gas prices? Well, I haven\u2019t seen any jawboning, have you? Bottom line, we need a president who is fighting for the American worker, the American family at the fuel pumps to lower the price of gasoline in the United States.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: I\u2019m speechless here. So that\u2019s what the president does, the president jawbones OPEC? We need a president who is going to make secret deals with the Saudis? It was just two months ago he was reading the Woodward book, no, Woodward doesn\u2019t say this in the book, Woodward said it on TV, he was reacting to something Woodward said on TV. Here, listen to this.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>VOICE: If, as Bob Woodward reports, it is true that gas supplies and prices in America are tied to the American election, then tied to a secret White House deal, that is outrageous and unacceptable to the American people.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: I don\u2019t know what to do here with this. Maybe nothing. It speaks for itself. Nobody in this campaign is paying any attention to what anybody else in this campaign is saying, including the candidate. Folks, you wonder he\u2019s not getting wide, broad media coverage, they can\u2019t believe it. I mean they made this big deal, Kerry is out there making a big deal about a secret deal, now he\u2019s upset that there\u2019s no secret deal, when you boil it all down. Here\u2019s Barbara Boxer. This is this morning on CNN\u2019s American Morning. Solidad O\u2019Brien is the interviewer, and the question: the average price in California, $2.31, and that\u2019s the highest overall average, but when you see actually some of the other numbers, Santa Barbara, $3.11 a gallon, what is your plan, Senatorette Boxer, to get gas prices under control not only in your state, but across the station?&#8221; It says here anyway.<\/line><\/p>\n<p><BR\/><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/democrats_all_gassed_up.Par.0007.ImageFile.jpg\" width=\"264\" height=\"211\" class=\"alignright\"\/> BOXER: I\u2019ve been on this for quite a while, and I think the first thing you have to do is go back to what President Bush said before he was president, to then President Clinton when gas prices were skyrocketing. He said you\u2019ve got to jawbone OPEC, you\u2019ve got to tell them to open up the spigots, so we want to see presidential leadership here and forceful presidential leadership. Then we want to use the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as you pointed out, Solidad, that also was done by President Clinton when the home heating oil prices went through the roof and it worked. This makes a lot of sense.<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>RUSH: Okay, what do we have here? We\u2019ve got a new mantra, a new talking point, we\u2019ve got to go jawbone OPEC, got to go jawbone OPEC. I know I don\u2019t say this again but I\u2019m so incredulous, I\u2019ve got to say it again. It\u2019s just two months ago they\u2019re all bent out of shape because Bush may do something to lower the gasoline price via secret deals with the Saudis, and now Bush isn\u2019t doing it, and they\u2019re mad. Here\u2019s Bush. We have Bush here somewhere, yes, here\u2019s Bush. This is from his cabinet meeting today, he spoke to the press, info babe named Karen, I don\u2019t know her last name, said: Senator Kerry has suggested opening shipments to the emergency oil reserves, your energy bill as a long-term step, what are some short-term steps that can be taken?<\/line><BR\/> <\/line><BR\/>BUSH: If people had acted on my energy bill when I submitted it three years ago, we would be in a much better situation today. Secondly, we will not play politics with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That petroleum reserve is in place in case of major disruptions of energy supplies to the United States. The idea of emptying the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would put America in a dangerous position in the war on terror. We\u2019re at war. We face a tough and determined enemy on all fronts. And we must not put ourselves in a worse position in this war. And playing politics with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would do just that.<\/line><BR\/>RUSH: I wonder why somebody didn\u2019t start saying, &#8220;Well, when are you going to start jawboning OPEC?&#8221; Now, there\u2019s one other point about this. Kerry or somebody had suggested that we release 60 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. My friends, to put this in perspective &#8212; 60 million barrels would maybe, <emphasize>maybe<\/emphasize> get us through two days. It ain\u2019t going to lower the price.
