RUSH: Fine and dandy.\u00a0 Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 So I had a question.\u00a0 I am currently talking about a college class in which we are learning the art of discussion.\u00a0 And I was wondering, how do you talk facts and ideas with liberals and Democrats when they immediately go on the defensive and start calling names?\u00a0 How do you get past that to a point where you can discuss?<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 You won\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 All right. (chuckles)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>RUSH:\u00a0 In the current atmosphere — and there are exceptions of course with everything and everybody. But if you run into somebody who is liberal, and you start discussing facts and reality as serious things, you are outside their comfort level.\u00a0 They have constructed a false reality in which they live, and anything you say that challenges it upsets them and scares them, and they can\u2019t deal with it.\u00a0 They have never been trained themselves in critical thinking.\u00a0 They have never been trained to independently ascertain and confirm facts.<\/p>\n

They have been sponges, Gabe.\u00a0 They have been the recipients of indoctrination, of propaganda.\u00a0 I\u2019m not exaggerating here.\u00a0 The thing you should do is just be patient and keep at it.\u00a0 Repetition is the key here.\u00a0 But once they start calling you names, do not engage with \u2019em. Just laugh at \u2019em and take the tone down, walk away or whatever. But keep coming back at it.\u00a0 But you\u2019re never, in one shot, gonna overcome the defense mechanisms that they have structured and built up to protect themselves against the conflicting things that they\u2019re hearing from you.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Really, I\u2019m not exaggerating.\u00a0 They do not think, Gabe. They haven\u2019t arrived at the things they believe by way of independent thought.\u00a0 They have been told to believe this.\u00a0 It\u2019s been indoctrinated in them.\u00a0 All you\u2019re doing is challenging the worldview and their security.\u00a0 And therefore, you make \u2019em nervous.
