CALLER: I think that was part of it, too.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What was “hands up, don\u2019t shoot”?\u00a0 “Hands up, don\u2019t shoot” was reverse racism.\u00a0 “Hands up, don\u2019t shoot” was nothing more than, “Here\u2019s how we\u2019re gonna get even with you.”<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 It\u2019s just like that.\u00a0 It\u2019s like, I was raised to vote Democrat, without question.\u00a0 When I got old enough to be a critical thinker, I looked at it and I said, “Hey, no way, man! I\u2019m not for abortion. I\u2019m not for this,” and then when you look at the history of these racist Democrats, Jefferson Davis being their first president, right?<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Congratulations.\u00a0 Exactly.<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 I mean —<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 No way you wanted to be saddled with everything being a Democrat means just because you are black and have to show loyalty.<\/p>\n
CALLER:\u00a0 Right. And, you know, and then you saw. Now I\u2019m a sellout and I\u2019m also an Uncle Tom.<\/p>\n
RUSH:\u00a0 Well, you\u2019ve got — you\u2019ve got some august company.\u00a0 You\u2019ve got Clarence Thomas, you\u2019ve got Shelby Steele, there\u2019s a number of other Uncle Toms out there that are very highly achieved people that are considered sellouts.\u00a0 You know what I think the biggest — and it\u2019s hard to put something at the top of this list.\u00a0 But I think — and I spoke about it earlier this week using a column written by Shelby Steele<\/a>, in fact. I think one of the greatest disservices that the Democrat Party has done to its core black supporters is what I call “the soft bigotry of low expectations.”<\/p>\n I think it\u2019s the Democrat Party who believes that black people can\u2019t achieve on their own.\u00a0 For whatever reason. Be it racism, be it the history of slavery, be it Republicans, it doesn\u2019t matter. The Democrats have got an entire portion of the population of this country believing that they can\u2019t do anything on their own.\u00a0 That is destructive!\u00a0 That\u2019s insulting.\u00a0 And it\u2019s the soft bigotry of low expectations.\u00a0 There\u2019s no expectation that African-Americans are gonna do well for whatever reason. The deck\u2019s stacked against them or they\u2019re incompetent or there\u2019s lingering racism.<\/p>\n But at the end it all, the way you finish the sentence is, “There\u2019s no way you\u2019re gonna amount to anything unless you vote for us — and if you vote for us, we\u2019re gonna clear the path. We\u2019re gonna get everything out of your way.”\u00a0 And yet for 50 years these voters have been complaining about the same things.\u00a0 Democrat-run cities look like Third World nations!\u00a0 Democrat-run cities in some places look like war zones.\u00a0 What is the Democrat Party doing?\u00a0 Not just for African-Americans, but for any of their other constituencies, but creating permanent dependency on \u2019em and then saddling them with low expectations based on sympathy or whatever it is.<\/p>\n Yeah?\u00a0 Is it thumbs up or thumbs down?\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 (interruption) All right.\u00a0 Well, Steve Harvey, he hosts game shows on TV.\u00a0 He\u2019s been a syndicated radio host and may still be.\u00a0 He happened to visit Trump yesterday.\u00a0 He went to Trump Tower, and Trump escorted him down the elevators and into the lobby of Trump Tower.\u00a0 And he was there with… Was it Jim Brown that he was also with yesterday?\u00a0 (interruption) Yeah, but there was somebody. (interruption) \u00a0Oh, maybe it was early in the week.<\/p>\n But there was somebody else with Steve Harvey.\u00a0 He was with two guys. It doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0 I\u2019m just trying to complete the picture.\u00a0 Well, Marc Lamont Hill, who is a professor. He\u2019s a liberal professor, and he hopscotches from one liberal university to the next teaching racism and slavery studies and whatever else it is.\u00a0 And he was just offended as all get out when he saw Steve Harvey had gone to Trump Tower and Steve Harvey was escorted by Trump down the elevators in the lobby of Trump Tower, and he said that Steve Harvey is “a mediocre Negro.”<\/p>\nThey\u2019re not doing anything for anybody other than ostensibly protecting them.\u00a0 “Yeah, protecting them from racist Republicans!\u00a0 Yeah, that\u2019s what\u2019s happening. That\u2019s what they\u2019re doing.\u00a0 They got a cloak of protection around every minority, making sure that the evil majority doesn\u2019t get in there and do harm to \u2019em.”\u00a0 It\u2019s perverted.\u00a0 Let me give you an example.\u00a0 How many of you know the television personality Steve Harvey.\u00a0 You know Steve Harvey?\u00a0 Do you have an opinion on Steve Harvey one way or the other?
