{"id":216744,"date":"2017-01-11T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-01-11T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/admin.rushlimbaugh.com\/?p=216744"},"modified":"2017-01-12T16:07:45","modified_gmt":"2017-01-12T21:07:45","slug":"trump-press-conference-a-work-of-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/admin.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2017\/01\/11\/trump-press-conference-a-work-of-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Press Conference: A Work of Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH:\u00a0 No, no, <a href=\"https:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/daily\/2017\/01\/09\/my-phone-call-from-the-president-elect\/\">I told him<\/a> to wrap it up by noon but the lawyer went long explaining the divestment of Trump\u2019s business and so forth.\u00a0 It\u2019s okay.\u00a0 It\u2019s not gonna go on much longer.\u00a0 This is Rush Limbaugh.\u00a0 We\u2019re gonna join the Trump press conference now.\u00a0 It\u2019s a work of art.\u00a0 It\u2019s an absolute work of art.\u00a0 We\u2019re near the end of it, so here we go.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 &#8212; to see what was happening with the Supreme Court, so I think it was a very, very big decision as to why I was elected.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Making mincemeat of the media today.<\/p>\n<p>(reporters all talking at once)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER: &#8212; what were you driving at there, what were you trying to tell them?<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 I think it was disgraceful, disgraceful that the intelligence agencies allowed any information that turned out to be so false and fake, out.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s a disgrace.\u00a0 And I say that, and I say that, and that\u2019s something that Nazi Germany would have done and did do.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s a disgrace that information that was false and fake and never happened got released to the public.\u00a0 As far as BuzzFeed, which is a failing pile of garbage, writing it, I think they\u2019re gonna suffer the consequences. They already are.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Poor Obama.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cHol4--tC3s\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nTRUMP:\u00a0 And as far as CNN going out of their way to build it up &#8212; and, by the way, we just found out, I was coming down, Michael Cohen, I was being &#8212; Michael Cohen is a very talented lawyer, a good lawyer in my firm, was just reported that it wasn\u2019t this Michael Cohen that we\u2019re talking about.\u00a0 So all night it was Michael Cohen. I said, &#8220;I want to see your passport.&#8221; He brings his passport to my office, I say, &#8220;Hey, wait a minute, he didn\u2019t leave the country.&#8221;\u00a0 They had (imitating news media), &#8220;Michael Cohen of the Trump organization was in Prague.&#8221; It turned out to be a different Michael Cohen.\u00a0 It\u2019s a disgrace what took place. It\u2019s a disgrace and I think they ought to apologize, to start with, to Michael Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 It\u2019s the Trump press conference and we\u2019re just finishing up with it here, so hang in, be tough.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER: Since you\u2019re attacking us &#8212; (reporters all talking at once)<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 No, not you.\u00a0 Not you.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER: Can you give us a chance?<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP: Your organization.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 You are attacking our news organization.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Your organization.\u00a0 You, go ahead. (another reporter interrupts)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Let me ask the question, sir.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Sir, quiet, quiet. (reporter continues to interrupt)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Mr. President-elect &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 She\u2019s asking a question, don\u2019t be rude.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be rude. (reporter continues to interrupt)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Can you give us a question?<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Don\u2019t be rude. No, I\u2019m not gonna give you a &#8212; I\u2019m not gonna give you a question.\u00a0 You are fake news.\u00a0 Go ahead. (reporter continues to interrupt while gallery applauds)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Sir, can you state categorically &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Right on!\u00a0 Did you hear that?\u00a0 &#8220;You are fake news, I\u2019m not giving you a question.&#8221;\u00a0 Right on!<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 President Obama went too far with the sanctions he put on Russia after the hacking &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 I don\u2019t think he went too far.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 And will you roll them back?\u00a0 And what do you think of Lindsey Graham\u2019s plan to send you a bill for a tougher one?<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Plans to send me a bill for what?<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER: For tougher sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 I hadn\u2019t heard Lindsey Graham was going to do that.\u00a0 Lindsey Graham, I\u2019ve been competing with him for a long time.\u00a0 He\u2019s gonna crack that 1% barrier one day.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t realize Lindsey Graham\u2019s still at it.\u00a0 Sorry.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 (laughing) This is so good, folks.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 I think Lindsey Graham\u2019s a nice guy actually. I\u2019ve heard that he\u2019s a nice guy, and I\u2019ve been hearing it, I\u2019ve been hearing it.\u00a0 Yeah, go ahead.\u00a0 Go ahead, go ahead, you\u2019ve been waiting.\u00a0 Go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 As far as we understand the intelligence community &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Stand up, please.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Ian Pannell from BBC News.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 BBC News, that\u2019s another beauty.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0(laughing) Thank you.\u00a0 Thank you.\u00a0 As far as we understand the intelligence community are still looking at these allegations as false news, as you describe it.\u00a0 If they come back with any kind of conclusion that any of it stands up, any of it is true, will you consider your position, would you &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 There\u2019s nothing they could come back with.\u00a0 Yes, yes, go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>(reporters all talking at once)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Fake news and all the problems that we\u2019ve seen throughout the media over the course of the election, what reforms do you recommend for this industry here?<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UV27p_IGSAU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nTRUMP:\u00a0 Well, I don\u2019t recommend reforms.\u00a0 I recommend people that have some moral compass.\u00a0 You know, I\u2019ve been hearing more and more about a thing called Fake News and they\u2019re talking about people that go and say all sorts of things. But I will tell you, some of the media outlets that I deal with are fake news, more so than anybody.\u00a0 I could name them, but I won\u2019t bother, but you have a few sitting right in front of us.\u00a0 So they\u2019re very, very dishonest people.\u00a0 But I think it\u2019s just something we\u2019re gonna have the live with.\u00a0 I guess the advantage I have is that I can speak back.\u00a0 When it happens to somebody that doesn\u2019t have that kind of a megaphone &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 That he isn\u2019t that.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 &#8212; they can\u2019t speak back. It\u2019s a very sad thing.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 That\u2019s part of it, but that\u2019s not &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 I\u2019ve seen\u00a0 people destroyed. I\u2019ve seen people absolutely destroyed, and I think &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 It\u2019s bigger than that.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 &#8212; and I think it\u2019s very unfair. So all I can ask for is honest reporters, yes.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to explain this to you.<\/p>\n<p>(reporters all talking at once)<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Follow up on the questions about the U.S. intelligence community and be very clear about what they\u2019re saying.\u00a0 Do you trust your U.S. intelligence officials, and what do you say to foreign policy experts who say you\u2019re actually weakening national security by waging this war of words against that community?<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Intelligence agencies are vital and very, very important.\u00a0 We are going to be putting in, as you know, Mr. Pompeo and others. You know the Senator, Dan Coats. We\u2019re gonna be putting in some outstanding people.\u00a0 Within 90 days they\u2019re going to be coming back to me with a major report on hacking.\u00a0 I want them to cover this situation.\u00a0 I also want them, however, to cover maybe most importantly &#8212; because we\u2019re hacked by everybody.\u00a0 You know, the United States, our government, out of a list of 17 in terms of intel industries, is the worst, it\u2019s number 17 in terms of protection, if you look at the retail industry, if you look at banking industry, various industries, out of 17 industries they put this in the category of an industry, the United States is last in terms of protecting let\u2019s say hacking defense.\u00a0 Like we had a great hacking defense &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 That\u2019s gonna change.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 &#8212; at the Republicans National Committee.\u00a0 That\u2019s why we weren\u2019t hacked.\u00a0 By the way, we were told they were trying to hack us but they weren\u2019t able to hack, and I think I get some credit because I told Reince and Reince did a phenomenal job, but I said I want strong hacking defense.\u00a0 The Democratic National Committee didn\u2019t do that.\u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s why the country is run so badly that way.\u00a0 (reporter interrupts)\u00a0 But wait, let me finish.\u00a0 Within 90 days we will be coming up with a major report on hacking defense, how do we stop this new phenomena, fairly new phenomena because the United States is hacked by everybody.\u00a0 That includes Russia and China and everybody.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Everybody.\u00a0 Okay.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 President-Elect Trump, President-Elect Trump.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Go ahead.\u00a0 Go ahead.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Mr. President-elect, you said just now that you believe that Russia indeed was responsible for the hacking of the DNC and John Podesta emails, et cetera.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Trump-Conf-650-011117.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-216776 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Trump-Conf-650-011117.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"312\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Trump-Conf-650-011117.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Trump-Conf-650-011117-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a>TRUMP:\u00a0 You know what?\u00a0 It could have been others also.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 But why did you spend weeks undermining the U.S. Intelligence Committee before getting the facts and then making a public statement &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Well, I think it\u2019s pretty sad when intelligence reports get leaked out to the press.\u00a0 I think it\u2019s pretty sad.\u00a0 First of all, it\u2019s illegal.\u00a0 You know, these are classified and certified meetings and reports.\u00a0 I\u2019ll tell you what does happen.\u00a0 I have many meetings with intelligence and, every time I meet, people are reading about it.\u00a0 Somebody\u2019s leaking it out.<\/p>\n<p>So then I said, maybe it\u2019s my office, maybe it\u2019s my office. I have a lot of great people, maybe it\u2019s them. And what I did, I said I won\u2019t tell anybody I\u2019m gonna have a meeting and I won\u2019t tell anybody about my meeting with intelligence, and what happened is I had my meeting, nobody knew, not even Rhoda, my executive assistant for years. She didn\u2019t know. I didn\u2019t tell her, nobody knew.\u00a0 The meeting was had, the meeting was over, they left, and immediately the word got out that I had a meeting.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 This is what they don\u2019t know how to deal with, folks.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 I don\u2019t want that.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 He\u2019s dealing with kids.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 It\u2019s very unfair to the country. It\u2019s very unfair to our country what\u2019s happened.\u00a0 That report should have never &#8212; first of all, it shouldn\u2019t have been printed because it\u2019s not worth the paper it\u2019s written on and I thank the New York Times for saying that, I thank a lot of different people for saying that, but I will tell you that should never, ever happen.\u00a0 Okay &#8212;<\/p>\n<p>(reporters all talking at once)<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 He\u2019s loving this, you know, this is the difference.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTER:\u00a0 Can you stand here today once and for all and say that no one connected to you or your campaign had any contact with Russia leading up to or during the presidential campaign. And if you indeed do believe that Russia was behind the hacking, what is your message to Vladimir Putin right now?<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Come on, these are kids, these are little kids in the media (imitating reporter), &#8220;Can you tell us, can you tell us, can you nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 He shouldn\u2019t be doing it, he won\u2019t be doing it.\u00a0 Russia will have much greater respect for our country when I\u2019m leading it than when other people have led it.\u00a0 You will see that.\u00a0 Russia will respect our country more.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Right on.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 He shouldn\u2019t have done it, I don\u2019t believe he\u2019ll be doing it more.\u00a0 Now, we have to work something out, but it\u2019s not just Russia.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Right on.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Take a look at what\u2019s happened.\u00a0 You don\u2019t report it the same way.\u00a0 Twenty-two million accounts were hacked in this country by China, and that\u2019s because we have no defense.\u00a0 That\u2019s what\u2019s we\u2019re run by people that don\u2019t know what they\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Exactly right.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP:\u00a0 Russia will have far greater respect for our country when I\u2019m leading it, and I believe, and I hope&#8230; Maybe it won\u2019t happen. It\u2019s possible. But I won\u2019t be giving a little reset button like Hillary.\u00a0 &#8220;Here, press this piece of plastic!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: (laughing) Yes! Yes! I love this. Right on.<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP: The guy looked at it like, &#8220;What is she doing?&#8221;\u00a0 There\u2019s no reset button.\u00a0 We\u2019re gonna either gonna along or we\u2019re not.\u00a0 I hope we get along. But if we don\u2019t, that\u2019s possibly too.\u00a0 But Russia and other countries &#8212; and other countries, including China, which has taken total advantage of us economically, totally advantage of us in the South China Sea by building their massive fortress. Total. Russia, China, Japan, Mexico, all countries will respect us far more &#8212; far more than they do under past administrations.<\/p>\n<p>REPORTERS: (shouting)<\/p>\n<p>TRUMP: I want to thank everybody.\u00a0 So this is all&#8230; Just so you understand, these papers &#8212; \u2019cause I\u2019m not sure that was explained properly. But these papers are all just a piece of the many, many companies that are being put into trust to be run by my two sons, and I hope at the end of eight years I\u2019ll come back and I\u2019ll say, &#8220;Oh, you did a good job.&#8221;\u00a0 Otherwise, if they do a bad job, I\u2019ll say, &#8220;You\u2019re fired.&#8221;\u00a0 Good-bye, everybody. He tried to wrap it up but he had his female lawyer go out there and give a great, detailed explanation of the divestment of his businesses, and she was as thorough&#8230; She was just superb, and I was thinking watching her, &#8220;Here\u2019s this so-called misogynist Donald Trump, and he\u2019s turning over one of the most important things &#8212; the most important events in his business life ever &#8212; to this female attorney, and he\u2019s putting her out there to explain all this,&#8221; and she was just superb.<\/p>\n<p>Okay, folks, I want to take a little break here and we\u2019ll come back. I want to put all of this in perspective here, what happens starting last night with CNN and BuzzFeed, which got all of this going today.\u00a0 Poor Barack Obama. You know, I have to mention this.\u00a0 There was not one question that Trump got about Barack Obama today.\u00a0 Barack Obama did his farewell address last night, and it\u2019s totally gone.\u00a0 Every bit of the oxygen has been sucked up by Donald Trump, even though it was a fake news story. There\u2019s not a syllable being spoken since last night about Barack Obama\u2019s farewell speech.\u00a0 In fact, even Gloria Borger of CNN didn\u2019t know it, but she was describing the Limbaugh Theorem as she watched Obama last night.<\/p>\n<p>She made the observation, &#8220;You know what?\u00a0 This guy\u2019s talking like he hasn\u2019t really been in charge of any of this.\u00a0 He\u2019s talking about all these great things that happened here like he hasn\u2019t really been responsible for any of it.&#8221; She got so close to actually defining the Limbaugh Theorem that it was noteworthy.\u00a0 I\u2019ve got the sound bite. I\u2019ve got it ready to go.\u00a0 But, man, not a question from the media, &#8220;What did you think of Mr. Obama\u2019s farewell speech?&#8221;\u00a0 Not one. There wasn\u2019t one reference to it whatsoever.\u00a0 It\u2019s done and forgotten, like pretty much the Obama administration is except for all those aspects of it that have to be repealed and reworked and redone because such a mess has been made.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH:  We\u2019re gonna join the Trump press conference now.
