<\/p>\nNational teachers\u2019 unions are prepping an assault on Betsy DeVos, Trump\u2019s pick to lead the education department. According to the Washington Post, the unions are urging teachers to contact senators to tell them to vote against her.

Why? Well, the union bosses say she\u2019s an \u201cideological extremist.\u201d NEA president Lily Garcia says Betsy DeVos \u201chas made a career trying to destroy neighborhood public schools.\u201d Randi Weingarten, union boss for the American Federation of Teachers, says Trump has chosen \u201cthe most anti-public-education nominee in the history of the education department.\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, folks, it\u2019s true: Betsy DeVos has had choice words for teachers unions over the years. And it\u2019s true she\u2019s a strong proponent of charter schools. But there\u2019s more to it than that.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s take the NEA accusation that she wants to \u201cdestroy neighborhood public schools.\u201d Uhhh, Democrats and teachers\u2019 unions have already done that! In city after city, we have failing schools which \u201cgraduate\u201d woefully unprepared students. Others just drop out. Violence plagues the worst schools and parents have no say in choosing better schools for their kids.<\/p>\n
What Betsy DeVos really threatens is the stranglehold that teachers\u2019 unions and the Democrat Party have had on public education for decades. Democrats have allowed teachers\u2019 unions to have their way in exchange for hefty campaign donations, while our public schools have become a national embarrassment. They\u2019re little indoctrination centers. They\u2019re propagandizing the kids. The teachers\u2019 unions are afraid that that party \u2014 that the propagandizing and the indoctrination \u2014 is gonna end.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
