RUSH: Rachel, Indianapolis.  Hi, Rachel.  Glad you waited.  You\u2019re next to the program.  Great to have you here. <\/p>\n

CALLER:  I\u2019m so excited to be able to talk to you.  Thank you. <\/p>\n

RUSH:  You bet. <\/p>\n

CALLER:  I actually called because I wanted to thank you, because I\u2019m 18.  This is my first election year. <\/p>\n

RUSH:  Eighteen?  Wow! <\/p>\n

CALLER:  Yes.  I had to sit and roll my eyes my entire childhood while my mom and my dad talked about Rush Limbaugh and talked about Fox News and talked about the Tea Party, talked about the Founding Fathers, talked about principles and values. It didn\u2019t interest me. And now I\u2019m studying ministry at my church, and in the Bible they talk a lot about our responsibility with our government — and it\u2019s falling into place now. And now I\u2019m really grateful for my parents teaching me all the things they did and for all that you poured into them, because now when I listen to my friends and other peers, I can argue and I know what\u2019s going on, and I don\u2019t have to be led by what they\u2019re thinking but by what I know. <\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH:  I would love to… Rachel, I want to talk with you further about this, but I\u2019m out of time.  Can you hang on, or at least give us your number if you can\u2019t wait where we call you back? <\/p>\n

CALLER:  Oh, no, I can hold on.  I\u2019m good. <\/p>\n

RUSH:  Okay, good!  Good.  You stay right there.  It\u2019ll be a while, but we\u2019ll get to you right as the next hour commences.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I want to go back now eagerly to Rachel in Indianapolis. She\u2019s 18.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi!<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Welcome back. I sm really glad that you held on, because your call helps me make a point that I tried to make to a previous caller.  You might have heard him.  He was asking what we can do to make people who refuse to hear us and see the truth about us…? What can we do to open them up?  The thing I said to him was, “Really not much. They\u2019re so cocooned and closeted in their bigotry and prejudice that there\u2019s no reaching them.”  But you… I said that occasionally you\u2019re gonna get some that you\u2019ll win simply because they come across it in a way when you are not actively pursuing them, and they\u2019ll be in the right frame of mind and all of a sudden see the light, and that sounds like you. But your foundation came from your parents.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  And you were open to it. You\u2019d grown weary of hearing about me and Fox News and the Founding Fathers. You\u2019re in your teenage years. And then all of a sudden you got serious about your religion and the Bible, and it all came together for you.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  And now it all makes sense. So you\u2019re here substantively, not because you\u2019ve genuinely been persuaded. You actually believe it now, and you are open.  I think that\u2019s great.  I\u2019m really glad you called to share it with us.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Thank you! Well, thanks for letting me tell you \u2019cause it was important to me.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Can I ask why?  I\u2019m not fishing; I\u2019m curious.  Why was it important for you to tell this to us?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Because one of the things we\u2019re studying and one of the things I learned to understand is that when people make a positive difference in your life, it\u2019s really important to encourage them and it\u2019s really important to let them know that they made a difference.  When that difference is something that really fundamentally changes you, it\u2019s really important that you share that with them and you let other people know that there\u2019s more out there than the negativity and just being led around.  So I just really wanted to get the chance to tell you that.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, I cannot thank you enough. That is really mature and touching.  What was it about me and Fox News that your parents kept droning on about that irritated you?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Well, my dad used to be a liberal.  He was a music student, and he hung around with a lot of liberals in Denton, Texas.  I remember him always talking — \u2019cause I was really little when 9\/11 happened, and I just remembered him talking — about that was an epiphany for him. That was a moment where he shifted. <\/p>\n

RUSH:  Interesting.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  He started listening to you a lot, and he said a lot of the things just clicked with him. Things just came in differently, and he was able to flip from CNN. He always talked about CNN and how they were doing something and they weren\u2019t, and then he flipped over to Fox and he was hearing things that CNN wasn\u2019t even covering.  And then he would listen to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Bingo!  Bingo.  That\u2019s part of it, too.  There\u2019s no question, that is.  Because what these networks don\u2019t cover is almost as important to their bias as the way they do whatever what they do cover.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Right.  He would talk a lot about how he used to be a liberal and it just doesn\u2019t make sense.  And then he got involved in the Tea Party, he and my mom were, and I was just like, “Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: (chuckles) Yeah, I can imagine. That\u2019s a transition.  That\u2019s a full-fledged… Musician liberal to Tea Party?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I mean, that\u2019s a massive ideological shift!<\/p>\n

CALLER:  And he watched Glenn Beck a lot and took notes when he was talking about the Muslim Brotherhood and all kinds of things. He just watched it unfold, and I know he used to sit and talk to a lot of his hippie friends. (chuckles) He\u2019s actually working on a book now. He\u2019s really interested in doing it, and he\u2019s writing it all the time, and he says it\u2019s like writing music. It\u2019s like you have this formula, and he\u2019s researching, and a lot of the things he\u2019s gonna start researching is stuff from you and your show and it\u2019s just how he\u2019s been working.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, that\u2019s great.  I\u2019m so appreciative.  I really am.  It\u2019s great to have you in the audience, too.  And you can trust that we will be working hard every day to keep you here by virtue of meeting and surpassing your expectations.  Before I let you go, your choice of an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus.<\/p>\n
