Trump\u2019s appointment “Mad Dog” Mattis is turning them mad. Mad Dog Mattis as the defense secretary selection is just perfect. We\u2019ll get into explanations of why as the program unfolds.<\/p>\n

Man, oh, man, oh, man. I\u2019ll tell you, folks, I don\u2019t think Washington has any idea what they are in store for. I mean, they\u2019re looking at it, they\u2019re seeing it, and by Washington, I mean the elected establishment, in many cases of both parties, certainly the support groups at think tanks, the media. I don\u2019t think they have the slightest clue yet of the whirlwind that\u2019s headed their way. <\/p>\n
They\u2019re still in a little bit of denial, and you can tell by some of the media\u2019s reviews of Trump\u2019s speech. “We didn\u2019t like this. We don\u2019t like the way he keeps attacking us. That\u2019s not presidential. That\u2019s not nice. He shouldn\u2019t be doing this. He can\u2019t give speeches like this. This is not presidential.” <\/p>\n
They continue to make the mistake of plugging him into what they think their system is. And what they haven\u2019t figured out is, Donald Trump has taken over their system. I really think they don\u2019t have any idea what\u2019s headed their way. You know, Washington is an interesting place, folks. It moves at a snail\u2019s pace. It exists in a mind-set of very little can actually get done. And because that\u2019s the mind-set that very little can actually get done, very little of substance is literally tried. And particularly in our case on the Republican side, we haven\u2019t really been trying anything. Our efforts have been oriented toward stopping the left, which has been on a full-fledged march that\u2019s been looking successful because there hasn\u2019t been any opposition to it. <\/p>\n
But I don\u2019t think either party has any idea what\u2019s headed their way. Their business is to remain mired in process. They call it deliberation, thoughtful, reasonable deliberation. Trump doesn\u2019t know any of that. Trump is not a process guy. To him, process is delay. Process is obfuscation. Process is incompetence. People engaging in process are a bunch of people masking the fact they don\u2019t know what they\u2019re doing, and he has no time for \u2019em and no patience. <\/p>\n
Donald Trump gets things done. That\u2019s all there is, getting things done, accomplishing objectives. And you watch. The reaction to Trump is, “We can\u2019t do it that way. This is not the way we do it. That\u2019s not the way it\u2019s always been done.” It\u2019s almost cliched, but that is what I expect is gonna happen, and the Democrats, I think, are gonna end up falling even flatter on their face than they have to date because they still are living in a state denial. <\/p>\n
And part of that denial is a supremacy or a superiority about themselves and I think they\u2019re telling themselves in private, “Yeah, just wait \u2019til this guy gets here, we\u2019ll show him. Ha-ha-ha, Trump may think he\u2019s ruling the roost right now, Trump may be owning all the media, Trump may have all the momentum, but wait \u2019til he runs up against us and the way we do things.” And I think they are gonna be bulldozed. <\/p>\n
I think they\u2019re gonna steamrolled and I don\u2019t think they have the slightest idea yet, and if you watched what happened last night in Cincinnati, if you enjoyed it, buckle up, because I predict you are going to have day after day after day of overwhelming enjoyment once Trump actually gets inaugurated. There are gonna be setback days, obviously. But we haven\u2019t seen anything like this. <\/p>\n
And Trump does not think the way they do. He\u2019s not showing up and trying to politely insert himself in their system and the way they do things. He\u2019s not trying to ingratiate himself. He doesn\u2019t care. He\u2019s elected to do specific things. His campaign, his agenda, his rallies, a very long list of specific things, and he reminded everybody, if you\u2019re thinking he\u2019s not gonna build a wall, if you\u2019re thinking that was just chatter, I\u2019d change my mind if I were you. He committed to it again last night. <\/p>\n
And so the left — I\u2019ve watched \u2019em on TV. I watched \u2019em last night. I watched even conservative media types a little nervous, they don\u2019t like the way Trump does two things at once. Oh, I love — folks, I love this. We\u2019ve got a sound bite coming up. In fact, let me find it. It\u2019s Van Jones. Van Jones went to Trump country to try to figure out what the hell is going on, and he thinks he did. Yeah. Grab sound bite 15. <\/p>\n
Van Jones doesn\u2019t know it, but he has just described this radio show. He went to Trump country to try to figure out what this is all about. He admits, he went out there to Trump country. Actually, play 14 and 15. Play them in order. Here\u2019s the first one. It was on CNN last night. <\/p>\n
RUSH: Is this not amazing? Now, stop for just a second. Here is a guy who was an original member of the Obama Regime and because it was discovered that he\u2019s got communist ties, a big deal was made of it and he\u2019s out. Now he\u2019s been on CNN where communism lives in America. And he actually went to Trump country. Remember, he called the election originally a whitelash. Meaning a bunch of racist, bigot, angry white people decided to get back at having had to endure a black president. And folks, they believe that. <\/p>\n The Democrats, this business at Harvard between Kellyanne Conway and Jennifer Palmieri, a campaign review that happens every four years at Harvard, fisticuffs nearly broke out between Trump team Kellyanne Conway and Jennifer Palmieri at the Clinton team as they rehash the election. And it was bitter and it was vitriolic. They really believe this stuff. <\/p>\n It\u2019s not just words they\u2019re saying, it\u2019s not just mindless allegations. They really believe that every middle class white is a racist bigot. They really believe Trump won because white people are fed up with Obama and want to resurrect a society of white supremacy. They really believe it, folks. Van Jones believed it. He went out and after the election talked about it as the whitelash. He got so much backlash to his whitelash comment that he went out to Trump country. <\/p>\n Did you hear this? He totally gets if now simply because he left the ivory tower and left the confines of cliche that defined the Democrat Party, and he went out and he found out that Trump voters are reasonable, that their grievances are real. What do Trump voters believe? They believe in optimism. They believe in can-do. They believe in, “We\u2019ve got to reverse this for everybody\u2019s sake. We have got to reverse the trajectory of the country.” <\/p>\n What\u2019s the left think? The left think the country\u2019s best days are behind us. The left believes our great days were undeserved. The left believes that we\u2019re an unwarranted, undeserving superpower because we\u2019re a racist, bigoted nation from our founding. So Obama presides over America\u2019s decline and tells everybody “get used to it. This is the new norm.” <\/p>\n The new norm is no full-time jobs. The new norm is government getting bigger. The new norm is you having no wage increases for 15 years. This is what the new norm is, as we entered the global marketplace. And the American people don\u2019t want any part of that. That\u2019s not America. <\/p>\n America doesn\u2019t exist in decline! America never has existed in decline, and people do not want to be told that the country that they live in now is in decline and to live it, learn it, and love it. And so they rejected it. So Van Jones goes out and he understands it\u2019s not racism — at least he says he understands. I\u2019m gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. He says he understands. He hears… He listens to Trump\u2019s speech and he finally sees how other people are hearing it. <\/p>\n Nobody wants to hear a message like that except fellow losers, of which the Democrat Party has made a bunch. Every one of their voters outside of Hollywood and New York may classify as a loser. These little snowflakes in college campuses that can\u2019t handle anything they don\u2019t agree with. There\u2019s a guy… I have a story here. A guy, a Hillary voter, actually checked himself into an insane asylum on election night. He actually committed himself, knew that he was gonna be driven insane. So you hear Van Jones. He went out to Trump country. <\/p>\n He watched these people, and he hears Trump asking them to dream again, people who are hurting economically. Now, these people have always been hurting economically, particularly in the last eight years. Why didn\u2019t the left notice them? Well, because they were white, and the Democrat Party had abandoned the white working class in November of 2011, on purpose. It was a campaign strategy: Abandon them. Demographic shifts. Minorities, if you combine \u2019em, outnumber whites in terms of people that show up and vote. <\/p>\n The Democrats made a strategic decision to abandon the white working class, the Reagan Democrats, people they used to call “the little guy,” people they used to claim they\u2019re looking out for! Here\u2019s the next Van Jones bite. This is the bite where he describes watching Trump from outside the confines of CNN. He went to Trump country, and he watches Trump with a bunch of people in Trump country — and he doesn\u2019t know it, but he has inadvertently also described how this program operates. <\/p>\n JONES: He\u2019s doing some interesting stuff. First of all, you have two Trumps. There\u2019s Teleprompter Trump and then there\u2019s Terrible Trump, and Terrible Trump is gonna say a bunch of mean stuff to basically elites who are then gonna predictably take offense and then, that\u2019s, you know… He does that. But he\u2019s also producing two different reality television shows at the same time. One reality TV show is for his base, firing them up. But the other is for a very concerned business class that wants to see a little bit more maturity. What\u2019s amazing is that he does them both on the set at the same time. <\/p>\n RUSH: He doesn\u2019t know it, but he\u2019s just described this program, as I have always described it from the get-go. We do two things at once here. We do satire, parody — over-the-line, sometimes, humor, irreverent humor — and serious discussion of issues with credibility on both at the same time. For the longest time, there was no presentation like this in American media, but now Trump has come along and done it. And Van Jones is exactly right. He goes off the prompter and starts ad-libbing — he doesn\u2019t lose his place either way, either time — and in the process, deepens his connection. <\/p>\n They don\u2019t see humility. It was all over that place last night. Donald Trump gratitude, Donald Trump humility was all over that presentation. And at the same time Donald Trump braggadocio, Donald Trump “I\u2019m great,” Donald Trump, “You\u2019ve never seen anything like me,” Donald Trump mocking the media, calling them dishonest, pointing them out. Just like a campaign rally! The media (stammering), “This is not presidential! This is not presidential. This is not what presidents do. They — they — they don\u2019t focus on the media. We made Donald Trump! The media made Donald Trump! He can\u2019t get along without us. W-w-we –” <\/p>\n What Trump does during the speech, appearance, is he points at the back of the room, “There they are! There they are! The dishonest media, the lying media.” (crowd) “Lock them up! Lock them up!” “The lying media. The dishonest media.” And he\u2019s right! They were dishonest! They were reporting lies and misinformation about him and other things through this campaign. Why shouldn\u2019t he point this out? “Well, Mr. Limbaugh, it\u2019s beneath the dignity and the office of the presidency.” No, no. <\/p>\n In your old world, in the way things always are done, in the world of politics, yeah, maybe, but this is not that. It\u2019s a new day with a new president who isn\u2019t trying to get along and intermingle. He\u2019s taking over. These are dire times, and there are decisions that need to be made in order to change the direction this country is going and rapidly. But why shouldn\u2019t Trump point out the media? I mean, he points out last night. He\u2019s mocking them on election night. “There is no path to 270 for Donald Trump. Donald Trump has no path to 270! Donald Trump cannot be elected.” <\/p>\n He says, “They\u2019re doing this up until nine o\u2019clock on election night, and at the same time they\u2019re already early advance celebrating Hillary\u2019s win. ‘Donald Trump can\u2019t get elected!'” And the audience in the arena is going nuts because then he points out, “And yet we won, and we won in a landslide, and I got to 270,” and he points out even at midnight they wouldn\u2019t call it. He called \u2019em out. This is what doesn\u2019t happen. They never get called out. He called them out. I\u2019m telling you, there was a lot of bedwetting last night, and there\u2019s a lot of bedwetting still going on today. <\/p>\n BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n RUSH: Anaheim. This is Justin. Well, my question is more of what your response would be to Donald Trump\u2019s speech last night. There was a moment when he was talking about us not pledging allegiance or loyalty to any given country, not pledging allegiance or loyalty to globalization, that we pledge allegiance and our loyalty stands with one flag and one nation, and that is the United States. And I thought that was so powerful and a message to the world as far as America is back and we are gonna be strong again, and that\u2019s gonna be good overall for the world as a whole. <\/p>\n CALLER: And it\u2019s already started. <\/p>\n RUSH: It has. <\/p>\n CALLER: It has. <\/p>\n RUSH: And that\u2019s why the left is wetting the bed today, Justin. <\/p>\n CALLER: Oh, they are! And, you know what? I actually listen to more mainstream media news than I have in the past few years just because I get a giggle and a laugh to just see them — <\/p>\n RUSH: Right. <\/p>\n CALLER: — squirm and — <\/p>\n RUSH: Congratulations. They are still arrogantly condescending to everybody, thinking that weve all been duped and that Trump is an idiot and doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing. After the Trump speech, Anderson Cooper said, “You know, it\u2019s interesting, David ‘Rodham\u2019 Gergen, Trump sometimes used the prompter, then he reads from it as a touchstone, then he improvises for a while, goes back to conversational style, he\u2019s always been doing that. What do you do make of this guy that goes from the prompter to impromptu and doesn\u2019t seem to lose a step?” <\/p>\n RUSH: Whoa ho ho! David “Rodham” Gergen, the dean of conventional wisdom, the arbiter of collegiality, the leading light of being civil, “I knew I didn\u2019t like the son of a b-i-itch.” Except he said the word. I\u2019m telling you, folks, they\u2019re discombobulated. They think Trump is gonna become a protectionist, build walls around the country, and we\u2019re not gonna go anywhere in the world, good-bye — you heard him, “good-bye to America leadership in the world.” <\/p>\n No, no, no. No. It\u2019s just exact opposite. Mr. Gergen, we\u2019re entering a new phase of American leadership in the world where we\u2019re actually gonna lead instead of acquiesce to a bunch of namby-pamby linguini-spined leftists at the U.N. We\u2019re gonna start leading again, Mr. Gergen, you S… We\u2019re gonna lead, not follow!<\/p>\n BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n RUSH: I want to play this David “Rodham” Gergen sound bite one more time. Because there\u2019s a lot in here. This is actually another very teachable moment, and I\u2019m not playing it because of the way he ends it. It\u2019s because of what he says before that. He\u2019s reacting to Trump\u2019s amazing rally. I haven\u2019t played very many sound bites from it, but it was a fantastic night. <\/p>\n There\u2019s everything in the world to recommend it. America first, jobs first, working the crowd over the media, heckling it is hecklers, laying out a very bold conservative plan, announcing Mad Dog Mattis, replace, repeal Obamacare, rebuild the military, build a great wall on the border. We\u2019re gonna stop letting people we don\u2019t know who they are come into the country. The government\u2019s gonna answer to the people, only our people. <\/p>\n He said, “I\u2019m asking you to believe in America again. The script is not yet written. The pages will be authored by each one of you. You are the movement. I am the messenger.” That was Donald Trump last night. As I say, it was humble. It was filled with love and appreciation for his voters and the people in that hall. It established an even deeper bond of connection between those people and Trump, and he asked them to continue working to help him achieve what he wants and what we all want. <\/p>\n So someone like David “Rodham” Gergen who believes the United States has never been a justified superpower. I mean, we were but we shouldn\u2019t have been. It\u2019s too destabilizing. The Soviet Union went kerplunk and that\u2019s bad news. We didn\u2019t have anybody to stabilize us. They believe in globalism. They believe in the United Nations. They believe in us becoming just one of many nations. And Trump doesn\u2019t believe that at all. <\/p>\n Trump believes we lead nations. Trump believes we set the example. Trump believes that American exceptionalism means just that, and anybody that wants to come along with us is more than welcome to. But they got to understand who we are. We\u2019re not gonna define ourselves by telling ourselves we\u2019re no good or we don\u2019t rate, we\u2019re gonna be more like you. Anyway, Gergen, Council on Foreign Relations, globalism is the answer, and he\u2019s just livid over what Trump said. I want you to hear this one more time. <\/p>\n GERGEN: The alpha male reappeared tonight. I don\u2019t think there was any doubt that we\u2019re putting an end to one chapter in American history and moving on to a new one. He dispelled that doubt tonight. This was good-bye to American leadership in the world. It\u2019s good-bye to globalization. He\u2019s bringing America home. He is going to lead a nativist, nationalistic, populist movement. And if you want to join up with him, fine, but if you don\u2019t, forget it. That kind of speech will fire up his base, and it\u2019s gonna leave a lot of other people — I knew I didn\u2019t like the (Bleep). <\/p>\n RUSH: Right. I think what Gergen is saying is that it\u2019s other people who were saying “I knew I didn\u2019t like the son of –” I don\u2019t think he\u2019s actually saying that himself. What he\u2019s saying is that it\u2019s gonna confirm for people who thought Trump was an SOB that he\u2019s an SOB. But this is not the point. The point is this. This really is a dividing line. I think it\u2019s where people on the left, the Democrats do not understand you and me. <\/p>\n They see Trump, they listen to Trump, and look how Gergen describes it. America\u2019s coming home. It\u2019s good-bye globalization. That means good-bye United Nations. That means good-bye Paris accords. That means good-bye all these world organizations that punish America for its excesses. Trump\u2019s bringing America home. Good-bye world leadership, hello nativism, nationalistic populism, and if you want to join up with Trump, fine, but if you don\u2019t, to hell with you. <\/p>\n And they\u2019re missing the point. What Trump is saying and what all of you instinctively want is America to return to world leadership. We haven\u2019t been leading the world in anything. We\u2019ve been acquiescing. We\u2019ve been accepting the world\u2019s charges against us. We got presidents running around assuming that all these allegations against us are true and that we\u2019re guilty of this or that and so that\u2019s why Obama runs around and apologizes. <\/p>\n No. We are going to lead once again by being the best. We\u2019re gonna lead economically. We\u2019re gonna lead technologically. We\u2019re gonna go back to the Moon, we\u2019re gonna do whatever we\u2019re gonna do. We are going to lead by engaging in American exceptionalism and this is going to inspire others to come along with us. We\u2019re not shrinking away from anybody. We are reengaging. That\u2019s what Trump is, and that\u2019s what they don\u2019t see. (interruption) The Republicans are not the globalization — well, the establishment in Washington, both parties, has become a globalization party. That\u2019s one of the reasons that Republicans voters are so fed up with the Republicans. <\/p>\n The whole notion of globalization is, the impetus behind globalization is that the United States should not, it\u2019s immoral to be the superpower in the world. It\u2019s just not right, it\u2019s not fair, because how did we become superpower? We stole from that nation, and we stole from that nation, and we overthrew that leader, and we overthrew that leader, and we\u2019ve imposed freedom here, and we\u2019ve imposed freedom there, and we had no right. So America needs to be cut down. <\/p>\n Look, I have told everybody who will listen since the first days of Barack Obama what this is all about is paying America back for its supreme accomplishments, its excellence, its exceptionalism, that people on the left do not believe we deserved, do not believe was warranted, and do not believe was justified, because they\u2019re so caught up in this idea that we have been immoral from the days of our founding. We\u2019ve been racist, we\u2019ve been bigoted, we\u2019ve been homophobic, we\u2019ve been all of these horrible cultural things, and we never, therefore, deserve to be this superpower in the world. <\/p>\n Woodrow Wilson was the first guy to try it, and FDR was on his way until World War II made him step up. And so now Obama — look at the rules of engagement our military has. The one thing we\u2019re not allowed to do is win! So Mr. Gergen has it all wrong. We haven\u2019t been leading. That\u2019s been the problem. We have been apologizing and acquiescing and acknowledging that a bunch of wimps around the world have more moral authority than we do.
