Poll: Americans Are More Optimistic Than They\u2019ve Been in a Decade<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH:  Bloomberg News just posted a story. Americans have more hope than they\u2019ve had in the last ten years is the result.  But that\u2019s not their headline.  That\u2019s not their headline.  <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I mentioned the Bloomberg story before the end of the first hour.  The upshot of the Bloomberg story — it\u2019s a consumer confidence poll.  The upshot is that Americans are telling Bloomberg they got more hope for the future of the country than they\u2019ve had in the last ten years.  If you read the story, that\u2019s what you get.  You want to hear the headline?  “Soaring Consumer Confidence: Are Americans Happy It\u2019s Trump, or Just Happy It\u2019s Over?”<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the headline of a story that says the American people have more hope than they\u2019ve had in ten years.  “On the surface, the message from the University of Michigan\u2019s final reading of consumer sentiment for November is that President-elect Donald Trump will fix what ails the nation — fast. The consumer expectations index of the survey rose by 8.4 points from October to 85.2 — a one-month gain last exceeded in the December 2011 — a testament to households\u2019 optimistic view on the outlook for the U.S. economy and their own pocketbooks.<\/p>\n

“And ‘optimistic\u2019 might be an understatement. According to the latest report, in some cases, Americans are the most hopeful they have been in more than a decade. For the first time since 2006, 37 percent of households said they expect their personal finances to improve in 2017. Also hitting decade highs: real income expectations, as wage growth continues to gain strength in a broadening swath of the economy.”<\/p>\n

So there\u2019s the news of how consumers have reacted to the election of Trump, and the headline: “Soaring Consumer Confidence: Are Americans Happy It\u2019s Trump, or Just Happy It\u2019s Over?”  What “it\u2019s”?  Is “it\u2019s” Obama or is “it\u2019s over” the campaign?  You just have to know how to read these people.  <\/p>\n

Trump Rally Breaks Market Records<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH: The Dow Jones has passed 19,000. The Trump Rally it\u2019s being called.  Remember Paul Krugman of the New York Times the day after the election — actually election night — said the market was gonna plunge and we may be headed to a depression because of Trump. These guys do not know anything, folks.  They are historic for being wrong. <\/p>\n

Politico Editor Loses His Mind<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m looking for one other story.  This one I don\u2019t want to leave.  Two things here.  And editor at Politico has resigned after publishing the home addresses of some clown that runs what\u2019s called the alt-right and was advocating for people to show up at an alt-right meeting with baseball bats and crack heads. A Politico editor has been forced to resign. <\/p>\n

Folks, this alt-right stuff has been so overblown by the Drive-Bys. It\u2019s a fringe bunch.  Trump does not know them.  They are not factors.  They are not part of Trump\u2019s inner circle.  There isn\u2019t a single alt-right person involved with Donald Trump.  Before this campaign nobody even knew who they were or what it was.  And if there\u2019s an alt-right, there is an alt-left, and the alt-left is huge and everybody on the left is in it. <\/p>\n

But this group is no more mainstream than the Westboro Baptist Church wackos that show up at military funerals and protest.  But that doesn\u2019t matter.  You have an unhinged editor at Politico who thinks the alt-right is what the Republican Party is.  And he\u2019s tweeting that people should take baseball bats to some meeting and crack heads.  I\u2019m telling you, they have become insane on the left, clinically even maybe.  <\/p>\n

Media Loses Mind Over Fringe Alt-Right That Has Nothing to Do with Trump<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, this is the AP:  “Trump Begins Backing off Campaign Vows on Clinton, Climate.”  Folks, do not believe this stuff. <\/p>\n

I am imploring you — and I know how hard it is.  It is axiomatic. It\u2019s almost automatic to believe what you see on the news, even when you know who they are.  It takes a conscious effort, particularly if these stories are designed… If they make you mad, if they make you think, “Well, this Trump guy\u2019s lied to me,” do not automatically believe these stories.  Trump did not “walk back his claims on climate change.”  He did not do it.  He argued with them about it at the New York Times.<\/p>\n

They get first dibs.  They were live tweeting, so they get to tweet whatever they want to tweet that he says, and then they did the report since the interview was with them.  Whatever they say, the other news agencies automatically pick up and run with.  I know it\u2019s hard.  For example, here\u2019s a post from the Global Warming Policy Forum.  “Reality check:  Donald Trump on ClimateGate and the Paris Agreement,” and it\u2019s a reassuring story.  They detail how he did not “cave,” he did not “walk back,” he did not “back off,” as the AP says. <\/p>\n

They point out… The people that are really wrong on climate change are people like Thomas Friedman, the columnist at the New York Times, who sits there and salivates over the prospect that we would have a government like China where “the smart people” could just implement everything without having to go through the democratic process, which is exactly what we\u2019ve had.  Most of the reporting on this has come from the tweets that the New York Times tweeted out during the actual interview. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s where AP, CNN, Reuters all get their “Trump walked back,” “Trump backing off.”  Trump\u2019s doing no such thing, yet.  I\u2019m begging you. I\u2019m begging you to make a conscious effort to resist believing this stuff and either wait for me to set it straight or try it on your own.  Now, I\u2019m gonna have… I\u2019m gonna have Koko up at the website post this link \u2019cause I\u2019ve got to get into other things here, but this is the Global Warming Policy Forum.  It was posted today. The bottom line is the transcript of his New York Times interview shows it\u2019s far too early to know what Trump\u2019s gonna do about climate and energy policy.  <\/p>\n
