RUSH: We\u2019re gonna start with Charles in Noblesville, Indiana.  Charles, thank you for calling and waiting.  It\u2019s great to have you here, sir.  Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Hi, Rush.  Great to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Appreciate that, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  I told your screener I\u2019m 68 years old and I\u2019ve never voted in my life, and that\u2019s certainly not something I\u2019m proud of, but somehow just the thought of Bill and Hillary Clinton back in the White House just makes me sick.  And with all that\u2019s at stake for this country, I had to do what little I could to stop it.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH:  So you are primarily voting for the first time to vote “no” for Hillary Clinton; that\u2019s really what\u2019s inspiring or motivating you here?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Yes, that is.  We know what Donald Trump can be.  I mean, we can see him for what he is, but compared to Bill and Hillary Clinton, you know, to me there\u2019s just no choice with good conscience.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  If you ask me, Hillary Clinton is a woman who ought to be facing impeachment charges for what we know she has done. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Alex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Hi.  Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Hey! Thank you so much for having me, and thanks for helping keep me sane this election cycle.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, I appreciate that. What about my sanity?  You know, I\u2019m the one who has to do this every day and when I get out of here, there is nobody like me talking about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Oh, you get paid a lot better for it.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  (laughing) Yeah, right.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER:  I just have a couple of comments for you.  I\u2019m a 25-year-old here in North Carolina, registered Libertarian, and I went and early voted for Trump this week. And this morning I took my elderly grandfather and a friend of ours, a neighbor. It was the first time he voted in many elections, and my elderly neighbor in her seventies, this is actually the first time she ever voted just to go out there to vote for Donald Trump.  So the polls aren\u2019t showing lots of these people that are coming out.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Wait.  So you took two people to vote, did you say, and they hadn\u2019t voted before?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Well, my grandfather was a registered Democrat years and years ago but hasn\u2019t voted in a long time.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  The other woman in her seventies has never voted.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  They both voted for Trump?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Oh, yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Yeah.  “Oh, yeah. Foregone…” Okay, cool.  Well, again, this is what a lot of people hope is happening out there, and the interesting… I haven\u2019t seen any more exit polling data, just that one release on want a strong leader. (chuckling) You know, it could be… Look, we can sit here and dream.  It could be the exit poll data is so bad for Hillary they\u2019re just sitting on it.  Well, they released one thing and then there\u2019s no more?  The one thing they released is a majority of people want a strong leader as president.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the thing they wanted most in a leader, a strong leader for president, and we haven\u2019t gotten any more?  I\u2019m just saying.  I\u2019m like everybody else in this; I don\u2019t really know what\u2019s happening.  We all know what we want to happen.  <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Nancy in Little Rock as we head back to the phones.  I\u2019m glad you waited.  Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Hi!  Thank you, Rush.  Thank you for taking my call.  I\u2019m supposed to get right to the point, so I will.  My daughter is 36.  She has not voted since 2004, and she\u2019s very excited about Trump, blah, blah, blah.  But what I don\u2019t know and what I want to ask is: How are voters like that that I\u2019ve heard call into your show…? How are they polled, or are they polled?  Because they\u2019re not really likely voters that would be included, would they?<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH:  Well, basically you think that your daughter represents the kind of voter polling is not catching, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER:  Yes.  That\u2019s what I\u2019m asking.<\/p>\n

RUSH:  Yeah.  Polling is… (sigh) It\u2019s like television audience.  If you\u2019re a Nielsen family, that means you\u2019re one of a thousand homes that has a box on your TV that records what you watch.  And now it records what you record on your DVR and watch later.  And from that, the success or failure of TV shows is determined, a thousand people.  And because the system accepts it, everybody lives by it.  Same thing with polling. <\/p>\n

They\u2019ll go out and these guys talk to a sample of 800 people, and never talk to your daughter or me or you. Another poll will talk to another 900 people, maybe 1,200, and they\u2019ll tell us that that represents a projection of the voting population.  And since everybody accepts what they say — both parties accept it, the candidates accept it — then that\u2019s what we go by.  And then you compare what they project to the results, and sometimes they\u2019re right on the money and sometimes they\u2019re not. <\/p>\n

You just don\u2019t know until each election is over.  Cell phones versus landlines. Have they come down catching people on cell phones? They used to call people on landlines only.  So it\u2019s constantly changing.  Anyway, I\u2019m glad you called.  That question\u2019s been asked by a bunch of people ever since I\u2019ve been doing this.  I appreciate the chance to answer it.  <\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
