RUSH: Let me ask you something, Eric. I\u2019m not sure I know specifically who you\u2019re talking about, but you do. Why do you think they\u2019re not opposing Hillary?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Because they\u2019re too smart by half. They have their own egos and pride. They\u2019re looking at the person of Trump instead of what his agenda and what he\u2019s trying to do is. Meaning, that what they\u2019re doing is rejecting the acceptable in pursuit of the perfect and as a result they wind up by default getting the dangerous. These people — and I can name names. You got time. I could name them. I\u2019m not gonna name Glenn Beck. I\u2019m not gonna name Erickson. No, I\u2019m not going to do those people, but —<\/p>\n
CALLER: But I\u2019m not gonna name them, Rush, no, sir. I\u2019m not gonna name them. But I\u2019m trying to tell you, these people, in not realizing the danger that this woman is to their very industry and livelihood, if she gets in office and her likes, they will be shut down, they will be stopped. When it comes to black people, if Trump just continues to pursue the game, saying, I am going to be going after the game —<\/p>\n RUSH: Eric, I love you, man, I do. I wish I had more time, but I\u2019m really up against it here. But we get the drift. We get the drift.<\/p>\n BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n RUSH: Here\u2019s Robert in Southampton in New York. Great to have you on the program, and I appreciate your patience. Hey.<\/p>\n CALLER: Hey, thanks for taking my call, Rush. I appreciate it.<\/p>\n RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n CALLER: My question is, and this has been one of the greatest campaign seasons or the greatest one I\u2019ve ever seen, because it\u2019s ripped the mask off so many of the so-called, you know, people on the right who call themselves conservatives, but my question is, why does Trump get zero support from the neoconservative wing of the party when he promotes things like, you know, keeping Syrian refugees out, building a giant wall, nationalistic trade policies, when these are the same exact policies pursued by Netanyahu and Israel, like then it\u2019s great. <\/p>\n But when Trump says these same things, right away he\u2019s a nativist, he\u2019s a xenophobe, or, if they\u2019re particularly salty, right away he\u2019s, you know, a Nazi or a white supremacist or some other garbage. Why the double standard, and now that the mask has been ripped off, do you see any future for these people in the Republican Party going forward?<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, that\u2019s a whole different question. Your first question — why do you think it is? Let me name the names I think you\u2019re talk about, when you see neocons, you\u2019re talking about people like Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer, I don\u2019t know, John Podhoretz.<\/p>\n CALLER: Podhoretz.<\/p>\n CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n CALLER: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n RUSH: One of the traits of many neocons, not all, but they are former Democrats who became conservative, many of them during the Reagan years. But why do you think they are so repelled or disgusted by Trump?<\/p>\n CALLER: You know, I hate to describe motives to these people because I don\u2019t think that\u2019s fair to them. I\u2019d rather have them explain why, you know, tribalism seems to be good for some and not for others, but I just don\u2019t think the facade of the double standards, I mean, you know, diversity is our strength. Well, wait a minute. If diversity is a strength, why is diversity only a one-way street? <\/p>\n I mean, there\u2019s a whole war on noticing a whole host of things where you are not allowed to notice these things. And if you do, if you do, oh, no, now you\u2019re really a deplorable. And I just don\u2019t think — see, this is why you have Trump, because there\u2019s so many of these double standards now that we\u2019re not even supposed to talk about or even notice, let alone, you know, have a conversation about. The system just broke down and immigration was the straw that finally broke the camel\u2019s back, because, look, in ten years\u2019 time, Texas is probably gonna be a blue state if this keeps up. And then you can never win again, and we\u2019re all just supposed to take our dispossession, you know, lying down and —<\/p>\n RUSH: Okay, so what is your question, what are you asking me, then?<\/p>\n CALLER: Well, you know these people better than I do. Why do you think they push these double standards?<\/p>\n RUSH: Well, you wouldn\u2019t answer when I asked you what their motives were, you think it wasn\u2019t fair to comment on motives. Why is it fair for me to?<\/p>\n CALLER: Because you know them and you travel in these circles and you —<\/p>\n CALLER: — spent a lifetime watching these people.<\/p>\n RUSH: I do not travel in those circles. I hate to tell you, but I am going to be among the people these people aim at when this is all over if Trump loses as the main reason why. I don\u2019t travel in these people\u2019s circles, and I never have. I\u2019ve known this for quite a while, by the way. <\/p>\n Look, answering this is not hard, I mean, factually it\u2019s not hard. But how much value it has right now, I don\u2019t know. I just think some of it\u2019s class related. Some of it establishment versus outsider, is an aspect. That\u2019s a huge part of this. It is a huge part of it. The establishment\u2019s made up of people with a certain pedigree. It doesn\u2019t matter, you could be wrong about everything, but if you sound smart saying it and you have the right resume and you\u2019ve taken the correct path in life, you\u2019re cool, you\u2019re okay. <\/p>\n It\u2019s more complicated than that, but it\u2019s I think largely related to — here\u2019s what it boils down to. This is where people don\u2019t understand it. The real question is that people are asking, why do not the people you\u2019re talking about see the election of Hillary Clinton as a disaster? Why do they not see the country in a literal crisis for its very survival as founded? That\u2019s what you\u2019re really asking. Why do they not think that?
