CALLER: Rush, it\u2019s an absolute honor to speak with you. Thank you so much for taking my call. I couldn\u2019t be more thrilled to be talking to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate that, sir. Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m 31 years old, Millennial by age, not by association. It\u2019s not my fault I was born with them, but fiscal conservative. I\u2019m much more a product of my own environment when it comes to social issues, such as gay marriage, you know, birth control, those types of things. So, for the last few years, really since I first started voting in \u201904, I\u2019ve not been too excited about our candidates because they just allow the liberals to control the narrative and, you know, Romney was a racist and a bigot towards women and all this other nonsense.<\/p>\n

With Trump, I never was all that thrilled about him, didn\u2019t really have a candidate at all this year I was too excited about. For me, watching the debate was not at all about who is going to win or lose. The points they\u2019re going to make, I know where Hillary stands. I can\u2019t stand Hillary Clinton. What I was looking for is can Trump hold himself in a presidential manner for 90 minutes without coming unglued or making a fool of himself, really?<\/line><\/p>\n

What the debate did for me is reinforce my thoughts. I just cannot stand the populist message, the pompous arrogance that Hillary displayed, and I watched the debate, and I thought Trump did a pretty good job when it comes to holding his temper and not coming across as being obnoxious or rude or interruptive. I went to bed after the debate, kind of digested it, woke up in the morning and everywhere on the internet, “Trump interrupts. He\u2019s rude. He\u2019s blasted. Hillary slams him in the first debate, knocks him out.” I just didn\u2019t buy that at all. For me, Trump did a great job. He held himself, and really where I wasn\u2019t all that excited about voting for him in the past —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, it\u2019s a debate. For crying out loud, it\u2019s a debate, and you can\u2019t wait to be asked to say what you want to say, and if somebody\u2019s lying about you, Trump has always — there was nothing new in it. Look, that\u2019s a classic example of how they saw it completely differently than you did, even though you\u2019re watching the same debate. You saw something else. And you make a great point.<\/p>\n

I know a lot of Trump supporters just paranoid that Trump\u2019s gonna lose supporters by virtue of this or that lack of accomplishment in the debate. I just don\u2019t see that. Trump supporters are not that thinly attached to him as you are, as you\u2019re pointing out. Anyway, Dan, I really appreciate the call. Thank you much.
