Do You Believe God Punishes Nations That Abandon Him?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH: We have a new survey from the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press.  The headline:  “Americans Giving Up on God and Miracles — Half of Americans who have left their church no longer believe in God, leading a surge of nearly one quarter of the nation who have no affiliation with any religion, according to a new survey. Pew Research Center said Wednesday,” so they said this today, “that 49% of what they term ‘nones\u2019 left their church and religion because they ‘don\u2019t believe.\u2019<\/p>\n

“Another 20% said they don\u2019t like organized religion. Other reasons included ‘common sense\u2019 and a lack of believe in miracles. The survey is the latest from Pew that demonstrates a growing trend in America: More and more people are junking religion and many are giving up on God.” Let me ask those of you among the faithful a question. <\/p>\n

Biblical question.  I don\u2019t want any calls on this.  We don\u2019t do that here.  I\u2019m just asking the question. It\u2019s a think question.  Do you believe God punishes nations and people who turn against Him or who abandon Him?  No calls us on that, Mr. Snerdley.  We\u2019re not going that way. I just want you to think about the question.<\/p>\n

Comparisons of Trump to Reagan Are Intriguing<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH: I know people who worked for Reagan who have gotten on the Trump bandwagon from day one, and I called \u2019em… Well, I don\u2019t call anybody.  I sent \u2019em an email.  I said, “What?”  “He reminds me of Reagan, Rush.  He reminds me of Reagan in the early days.”  I said, “You\u2019ve gotta be kidding.” “Nope, nope. I see the same potential.” I\u2019ve heard that from a bunch of people that worked with Reagan.  Now, I\u2019ve also heard from other people that worked for Reagan, that when they hear that, they want to throw up. <\/p>\n

\"original\"They don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything to that at all.  I mean, the opinions on Trump are all over the place.  We call it “perfect polarization” in the media business.   I hear from a lot of other people that Trump reminds them of what they think (what they remember) Reagan was.  And I\u2019ll tell you what I think it is.  Reagan beat the media, and Reagan did not have any help.  Reagan did not have a Fox News.  Reagan did not have me; he didn\u2019t have talk radio. <\/line><\/p>\n

Reagan had a couple of magazines, and that was it.  Everything else? There were three networks and the newspapers, and that was it, and Reagan won two landslides.  Reagan had the ability to go over the heads of the media and connect with the American people almost on a one-on-one basis.  He won two landslides, 49 states in the second one. Now, he was not brash with the media.  He laughed at the media.  He chuckled with them and all that.  He never bashed them like Trump does. <\/p>\n

But the media tried as hard as they could — and the Democrats tried as hard as they could — to take Reagan out, and they failed.  And I think that\u2019s what people see in Trump. They see somebody willing to take on the media, that the media can\u2019t harm.  And I wouldn\u2019t discount that, folks, among people on our side — lifelong Republicans, lifelong conservatives — the degree of frustration felt over the success the media has in destroying people on our side. When they come along and try to destroy somebody and the person survives and triumphs, I think people are drawn to that, and I think that\u2019s one of the reasons Trump has the appeal he does. <\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t by any means the sole reason, but it\u2019s the key.  <\/p>\n

Poll: If Trump Apologizes, 20% of Ohio Voters Willing to Forgive<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

RUSH:  I\u2019ve had this sitting around here for a while.  This may be an appropriate time to mention it.  It\u2019s a YouGov poll that was taken in Ohio recently.  And the upshot of this poll is — there\u2019s many aspects of it — but one of the aspects of this poll is that nearly 20% of people who say they\u2019re not voting for Trump would reconsider if he apologizes to the people he\u2019s offended. <\/p>\n

Now, this poll predates Trump apologizing if he offended anybody.  Now, do you believe something like this?  I mean, who would even think to ask this question?  “Would you change your opinion of Trump if he apologized?”  Twenty percent of the people asked this question, “Yep, I would reconsider if Trump would apologize.”  That was in Ohio.  <\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
