RUSH: Jake Tapper, and he\u2019s talking about what surprises him.\u00a0 He\u2019s speaking with the political correspondent, Dana Bash, about conservative reaction to Hillary\u2019s speech.<\/p>\n

TAPPER:\u00a0 One reaction that I\u2019m noticing online is conservatives who really liked it.\u00a0 Jonah Goldberg, he wrote, “Why this convention is better, it\u2019s about loving America.\u00a0 The Republican convention was about loving Trump.”\u00a0 And then I got a private message from a conservative who shall remain nameless who said, “I agree with zero percent of Hillary\u2019s policies, but I strongly believe that she is more right about what America is as a country, or at least ought to be.”\u00a0 These are people who I had never heard say anything nice about Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton, and they are just identifying more with the America presented by the Democrats, and I\u2019m just… I\u2019m stunned.<\/p>\n

BASH:\u00a0 Just to add to that, Rich Galen, who worked for Newt Gingrich, tweeted that he said he was sitting in his kitchen crying watching the speeches here.\u00a0 And he said, “What happened to my GOP?”<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Okay.\u00a0 So what do you make of that, folks?\u00a0 You want me to run through this again here?\u00a0 I\u2019m not gonna play the bite.\u00a0 I will just tell you what he said.\u00a0 Jake Tapper, CNN, he says that he was scouring conservative sites for conservative reaction to Hillary\u2019s speech, and he found Jonah Goldberg, National Review Online<\/a>, who wrote why this convention is better.\u00a0 It\u2019s about loving America; Republican convention was about loving Trump.\u00a0 Is that right?<\/p>\n

Was your take on the Republican convention that it was an ode to Donald Trump?\u00a0 Was the structure the convention, was the purpose of the convention, was the design of the convention, was the execution of the convention to get people to love Donald Trump?\u00a0 Was the Republican convention designed so as to not even talk about America, that America was not even a factor, that it was all about loving a personality?\u00a0 Well, that\u2019s what Tapper says that Goldberg wrote, that the Republican convention was about loving Trump.\u00a0 The Democrats was about loving America.<\/p>\n

The Democrats, the whole NROs had a dustup with Trump, but the Democrats don\u2019t love America.\u00a0 What the hell is this?\u00a0 The whole reason of the Democrat Party is that America is flawed, that America is unfair, that America\u2019s unjust, that America\u2019s immoral, that America\u2019s unkind, that America was a mistake as founded.\u00a0 That\u2019s the entire premise of the Democrat Party.\u00a0 Okay, so they do one night where they wave the flag, and they go through the motions about patriotism.\u00a0 And we\u2019re supposed to cast aside everything we know about them and think that they have in one night become the biggest patriots in the country?<\/p>\n

Daniel Greenfield writing at Front Page magazine — that\u2019s David — why am I having mental blocks on names today?\u00a0 He does the restoration weekend here every November.\u00a0 Horowitz.\u00a0 Yeah, Daniel Greenfield, here\u2019s the headline to the piece:\u00a0\u00a0“Welcome to the Communist Party, U.S.A. — How Hillary\u2019s scary speech revealed her mistake in wearing a white pants suit to her coronation.”<\/a><\/p>\n

Let me give you some pull quotes.\u00a0 Now, this is a conservative just like Jonah Goldberg is, but his take is: “This wasn\u2019t a convention. It was a series of character witnesses for a woman with no character. It was an extensive apology for the Left\u2019s radical agenda cloaked in fake patriotism and celebrity adulation.”\u00a0 Okay, but we have conservatives out there — I think it\u2019s \u2019cause they just can\u2019t stand Trump.\u00a0 I mean, there\u2019s a whole lot of reasons for this. (interruption) I know we respond to appeals to patriotism.\u00a0 Learned opinion and commentary writers are supposed to not fall for these tricks and make it look legit.\u00a0 The Democrats, that was a show last night.\u00a0 That\u2019s not who they are.\u00a0 You may see \u2019em waving flags for the next week or so to carry forth here.\u00a0 They may think they\u2019ve stumbled on a theme that Trump is dark and dystopian.\u00a0 They\u2019re the dystopianians, for crying out loud.<\/p>\n

Anyway, another pull quote from Daniel Greenberg.\u00a0 “The audience was told incessantly that Hillary Clinton loves small children. Once would have been enough. Twice would have been enough. By the millionth repetition, it seems more like Hillary is the witch trying to lure children into her gingerbread house.”<\/p>\n

Look, what has she done for children?\u00a0 Her daughter talked about it.\u00a0 What has she done for children?\u00a0 With all the Democrats and all of their self-praise, they\u2019re never-ending list of accomplishments, we ought to have this utopia by now, and we don\u2019t, by their own admission we don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Another pull quote from Daniel Greenfield.\u00a0 “The radical agenda of the Left was clumsily cloaked in references to the Founding Fathers. The same group of people whose names the Left want to see ground into the dirt. Hillary\u2019s call for collectivism, the insistence that none of us can do anything as individuals, was dressed up in E Pluribus Unum and the Founding Fathers.”<\/p>\n

That is exactly right, and I made that point earlier today.\u00a0 Hillary Clinton praising the Founding Fathers, this party, 364 days out of every 365 is trashing the Founding Fathers.\u00a0 They were racists. They were rich white people, slave owners, and it\u2019s in the textbooks now that they use to teach our kids.<\/p>\n

Another pull quote. “This was a speech that could have been given in Moscow during the Cold War. Instead it was delivered to an enthusiastic audience of Democrats who love the idea of taking away someone else\u2019s money. Beneath all the distractions, the celebrities and family stories, is the fundamental idea that Hillary has more of a right to your money than you do because she is ‘humbly\u2019 more enlightened than you are.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a name for that ideology. It comes with a hammer and sickle, with the color red, with gulags and firing squads, with little red books and big black prisons, and the death of the human soul. Hillary made a mistake by wearing a white pants suit to her coronation. She should have worn red.”<\/p>\n

That\u2019s Daniel Greenberg at Front Page magazine.\u00a0 That\u2019s his review.\u00a0 But over here Jake Tapper says that he read Jonah Goldberg say the Democrat convention is better.\u00a0 It\u2019s about loving America.\u00a0 The Republican convention was about loving Trump.\u00a0 Then Goldberg says that he got a private message from a conservative who wanted to remain anonymous who told him, quote, “I agree with zero percent of Hillary\u2019s policies, but I strongly believe that she is more right about what America is as a country, or at least ought to be, than Trump.”<\/p>\n

Jake Tapper then said, “These are people who I have never heard say anything nice about Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton, and they\u2019re just identifying more with America presented by the Democrats, and I\u2019m just stunned.”\u00a0 In one night.\u00a0 I think I know exactly what\u2019s going on.\u00a0 This kind of reaction, in one night of a phony night?\u00a0 I know they would say, “Phony or not, Rush, they pulled it off.\u00a0 They\u2019re the ones waving the flag and they\u2019re the ones singing, ‘USA, USA.'”<\/p>\n

Never mind the fact that earlier in the week — and this was tweated by Shannon Bream of Fox News.\u00a0 I mentioned this in the first hour, I want to repeat it again.\u00a0 Whenever everybody started chanting “USA, USA,” various people at the Democrat convention told \u2019em to shut up, that that\u2019s a Trump slogan<\/a>.\u00a0 We can\u2019t say that.\u00a0 That\u2019s Trump slogan.<\/p>\n

So they would say, “Rush, they may be phonies, but they made it look like they love America more than Trump did.”\u00a0 That\u2019s their story and they\u2019re gonna stick with it.\u00a0 And then finally, it was Dana Bash who said that she saw a tweet from Rich Galen who used to work for Newt, and he tweeted that he was sitting in his kitchen crying watching the speeches at the Democrat convention asking, “What happened to my GOP?”<\/p>\n
