\"Listen<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll get to my question for you progressives, just jiffy.\u00a0 I want to just go through a quick review of Mrs. Clinton\u2019s speech as I saw it last night.\u00a0 One of the first things that struck me — and it actually didn\u2019t strike me last night; it struck me on previous nights — is this effort to humanize Hillary.<\/p>\n

I guess it started with Bill Clinton\u2019s fairy tale.\u00a0 “In 1971, I met a girl…”\u00a0 By the way, I had to do some things with the bank today.\u00a0 So I called and said, “Hey, girls!” And they said, “What?”\u00a0 I said, “Is it okay now?\u00a0 Clinton called Hillary a ‘girl\u2019?”\u00a0 “What are you talking about?” They hadn\u2019t seen this; so I had to explain it to \u2019em.\u00a0 They laughed.\u00a0 They like me.\u00a0 They know I\u2019m not a chauvinist pig and they would like me even if I were.\u00a0 But Clinton said (impression), “In 1971, I met a girl.\u00a0 Ha-ha.<\/p>\n

“And if you believe the rest of this (chuckles) I\u2019m not surprised, \u2019cause I have smoked your ass the whole time I\u2019ve been in public life. But here goes.”\u00a0 So Clinton tells the fairy tale.\u00a0 It\u2019s all about humanizing Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 Why do they want to do this?\u00a0 Might they not think it better to present a tough-as-nails Hillary for the purposes of dealing with all the problems we have here?\u00a0 Why “humanize” somebody that you\u2019ve known for 30 years? If you have to humanize somebody… Think about that term anyway, just in and of itself.<\/p>\n

I mean, Hillary is a human.\u00a0 Of this, we are sure.\u00a0 She\u2019s been in public life, I say “30 years,” but it\u2019s actually longer than that.\u00a0 What is this “have to humanize” her?\u00a0 And she even alluded to it last night by saying (paraphrased), “I am into public service.\u00a0 I just don\u2019t do the ‘public\u2019 that well,” or something like that.\u00a0 That\u2019s not intended to be a quote; that\u2019s how I heard it, though.\u00a0 Instead, why wouldn\u2019t they just send her out there as who she is?\u00a0 Testicle lockbox over here, Nurse Ratched over there, take no nonsense.<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a>“I\u2019m gonna hammer whoever needs to be hammered to get it done — including Trump!”\u00a0 Why this compulsion to “humanize,” to soften her?\u00a0 It\u2019s not really possible except among people who want that side of Hillary to be seen, but you can\u2019t change somebody\u2019s stripes.\u00a0 Only they can.\u00a0 You can\u2019t. Nixon was able to do it, but it was not because people were talking about what a nice guy Nixon\u2019s become or any of this.\u00a0 It took a bunch of public appearances headlining Nixon in order to soften people\u2019s image of him the left had created.<\/p>\n

So I did… That\u2019s the first thing that struck me.\u00a0 Why spend this whole week trying to humanize here and soften her up?\u00a0 And then she admits that even after these 30 years, people have the wrong impression of her.\u00a0 She admits that few have ever seen all this good work that she\u2019s done because she\u2019s not all that good at the “public” in public service. (interruption) Oh, come on.\u00a0 (laughing)\u00a0 That I picked on her?\u00a0 Oh.\u00a0 Well, so everybody in public life has been caricatured.<\/p>\n

You know, I have been, and I\u2019m not even in politics.\u00a0 I mean, I don\u2019t have the power to do anything to anybody, and they treat me like I do.\u00a0 So they\u2019re running around saying that Hillary\u2019s been picked on and she\u2019s been laughed at and she\u2019d made fun of.\u00a0 Well, welcome to the club, for crying out loud.\u00a0 I thought Chelsea told us that that didn\u2019t matter. Chelsea said, “People ask me, ‘How does she do it?\u00a0 How does she do it?\u00a0 How does she do it, with all of the stuff goes on in politics?\u2019\u00a0 I\u2019ll tell you how she does it.”<\/p>\n

(Pause. Smile, camera left.)<\/p>\n

“She never forgets who she\u2019s working for.”<\/p>\n

Heart melt! Cue the heart melts.\u00a0 But that stuff works with that crowd.\u00a0 Who\u2019s she been working for?\u00a0 This leads to my question, because Hillary even admitted last night that after 30 years, people might have the wrong impression of her because they really haven\u2019t seen all this good stuff that she\u2019s done — like the money they appropriated from the Haiti relief fund. She didn\u2019t talk about all the wealth that the Clintons have accrued via the Clinton Family Foundation.<\/p>\n

But she did try to tell us that she\u2019s done a lot for children.\u00a0 Yes, she ran into Marian Wright Edelman of the Children\u2019s Defense Fund, and she has been devoted to children her whole life.\u00a0 All right, fine.\u00a0 But I want to know — and folks, I mean, this seriously.\u00a0 If the question sounds flippant, I don\u2019t mean it to be.\u00a0 I really need to understand this.\u00a0 It\u2019s part of my never-ending quest to understand progressivism.\u00a0 I\u2019m gonna ask any and all of you with children, progressives.<\/p>\n

I want to know what Hillary Clinton has done for your child.\u00a0 Because, man, did they make the claim that she\u2019s done a lot and that she\u2019s gonna keep doing it.\u00a0 I want to know what she\u2019s done for your child.\u00a0 I want to know what Obama\u2019s done for your child.\u00a0 Seriously, I want to know. I would love to know what you think they have done for your child, or your children.\u00a0 ‘Cause, man, when they stand up there and talk about all the things they\u2019re gonna do and all the things they have done and they\u2019re gonna help your children, I want to know what are they talking about.<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t start citing legislation to me, because the people out there, they\u2019re not thinking, “Oh, Hillary sponsored the Child Protection Act of 1997, the children\u2019s health insurance law!”\u00a0 Really, is that what you really think helped your child?\u00a0 But they\u2019re not gonna cite that.\u00a0 They don\u2019t know that. The people I\u2019m talking about, they don\u2019t know that.\u00a0 I\u2019m talking the people who have your kids. You get up every day, you send them off to school or whatever. I don\u2019t know what you\u2019re doing with them. I don\u2019t know where they go, whatever they do.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m assuming you\u2019re struggling because that\u2019s how the Democrats portray you.<\/p>\n

Hillary portrays everybody as struggling and suffering and barely getting by, and they are coming to your rescue. They are helping you.\u00a0 What are they doing?\u00a0 What do they do?\u00a0 Is it the raising taxes on the rich?\u00a0 I want to know: What is it?\u00a0 Again, don\u2019t mistake my passion for anger.\u00a0 I\u2019m genuinely curious to know.\u00a0 Any of the bimbos, bimbo eruptions, women that Bill Clinton had affairs with? Any of them have children?\u00a0 What did Hillary do for them?\u00a0 Whose children?\u00a0 Maybe that\u2019s a better way to ask it: “Whose children is Hillary helping?”<\/p>\n

Whose children has she helped?<\/p>\n

Whose children will she help, and what does she do?<\/p>\n

What has she done?<\/p>\n

What is she doing?<\/p>\n

All of this stuff sounds wonderful, but I\u2019m the mayor of Realville.\u00a0 And I want to know what it is, what it is you think that\u2019s so great that you vote for her because you want her to keep doing it, what is it?\u00a0 And don\u2019t tell me she cares, \u2019cause that\u2019s not helping you a whit.\u00a0 You care, too, about your own kids.\u00a0 How much does that help?\u00a0 Everybody cares.\u00a0 Nobody has an exclusive on that.\u00a0 So what is she doing?\u00a0 I mean, she\u2019s eagerly taking credit for all of this stuff, but I don\u2019t know what it is.\u00a0 I can\u2019t even imagine it.<\/p>\n

But, again, I\u2019m not a person that thinks the government ought to be doing things for my kids.\u00a0 I\u2019m not a person that thinks the government ought to be taking care of my kids.\u00a0 I\u2019m not a person that thinks the government ought to be laying the groundwork for my kids.\u00a0 I\u2019m not the kind of person that thinks that\u2019s the role of government. But obviously there are a lot of people out there who do think the role of government is to take care of their kids.\u00a0 Is it day care, is Hillary\u2019s for project double Head Start?\u00a0 I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

To me it doesn\u2019t make any sense.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what she can possibly be doing.\u00a0 For this reason.\u00a0 She\u2019s been doing it for 30 years, and there\u2019s still a lot of suffering out there.\u00a0 The Democrats tell us every day, there\u2019s still so much suffering, there\u2019s still so much poverty, there is still so many obstacles.\u00a0 What is she doing?\u00a0 Why isn\u2019t there a rosier future?\u00a0 Why isn\u2019t the picture better?\u00a0 Thirty years Mrs. Clinton has been working for you.\u00a0 We know she hasn\u2019t been working for anybody but her. Her power, her wealth, making sure her husband\u2019s career doesn\u2019t implode, that\u2019s what she\u2019s been doing.<\/p>\n

Oh, wait.\u00a0 She killed Osama Bin Laden for your kids?\u00a0 Oh.\u00a0 Oh.\u00a0 Osama put a contract out on your family or something?\u00a0 How does that happen?\u00a0 How does that work?\u00a0 Osama Bin Laden\u2019s dead and your kids are safer, and Hillary did it?\u00a0 I\u2019m serious, folks.\u00a0 I hear these things.\u00a0 I hear these Democrats say these things.\u00a0 I see them be applauded.\u00a0 I see them accept the applause. I see them promise to do more of it, and I don\u2019t know what it is.\u00a0 It\u2019s kind of frustrating \u2019cause I know the answer.\u00a0 The answer\u2019s nothing.<\/p>\n

Hillary isn\u2019t doing anything for anybody\u2019s kids.\u00a0 The Children\u2019s Defense Fund, what\u2019s that?\u00a0 It\u2019s assumption that every child\u2019s at risk because every family has a father, and a father is a dangerous potential predator.\u00a0 And so I guess the Children\u2019s Defense Fund protects children from the evils of family life.\u00a0 Yes, that must be what it is.\u00a0 But that can only be part of it.\u00a0 There have to be other things.<\/p>\n

Hillary Clinton has been in public life for 30 or 40 years bragging. Her daughter bragged about all of these great changes that she\u2019s made, all of these great improvements, which no one sees and no one feels because Hillary and the Democrats continue to say that so many children are continually in need, so there\u2019s never any solution to this.\u00a0 There isn\u2019t any improvement.\u00a0 Children are at risk as much this year as they were last year, as ten years ago according to the Democrats.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the same question I ask African-Americans who been voting Democrats 50 years on the basis of promises to end this and end that.\u00a0 And the way I hear things, African-Americans are angrier than ever. After all of this attention, all this exclusive attention, assistance and help and guardianship provided by the Democrats.<\/p>\n

So where is the resume?\u00a0 We got all these platitudes about things that she cares about, but where is the resume that suggests that she\u2019s actually fixed anything, which she has actually presided over breaking.\u00a0 And when you get right down to it, when the Democrats hold a convention while they have occupied the White House for nearly eight years and start listing off the complaints, they\u2019re talking about themselves.<\/p>\n

So we got a bunch of broken things out there, they did it, broken things out there that they haven\u2019t fixed no matter who did it.\u00a0 They\u2019re so good at caring about it all that we need to continue to grant them power.\u00a0 It just doesn\u2019t make sense.\u00a0 Seventy-three percent of the American people, poll after poll after poll in this cycle say that the country\u2019s headed in the wrong direction, that they are not happy.<\/p>\n

Well, who\u2019s been in charge?\u00a0 Who has been in charge of implementing the policies that have failed and created this public sentiment?\u00a0 I mean, whatever, however you answer that, you cannot answer it with Donald Trump. No matter what you want to say, you cannot blame anything going on right now whatsoever on Trump.\u00a0 Not to say they won\u2019t try, but you can\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I got an email question, Open Line Friday question.\u00a0 “Rush, I remember you saying don\u2019t ever call liberals anything other than liberals.\u00a0 That\u2019s who they are and they invent all these other terms to deflect people and fool people, like progressive.\u00a0 But you\u2019ve always said call \u2019em liberals.\u00a0 Okay, right.\u00a0 But now you\u2019re calling \u2019em progressives.\u00a0 Why are you doing that?”<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a good question.\u00a0 And the reason is I\u2019m appealing to some of them.\u00a0 They want to be called progressives, and I want them to hear what I\u2019m saying when I\u2019m trying to change their minds or persuade them, so I address them in a term that they want to be called.\u00a0 It\u2019s part of my outreach.\u00a0 Nothing more.\u00a0 I have not changed my mind that liberals are liberals.\u00a0 It\u2019s just if somebody wants to be called Mister-somebody instead of Fred, then I\u2019ll call \u2019em that.\u00a0 I\u2019m actually trying to have a productive, persuadable dialogue.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
