CALLER:\u00a0 Great to talk with you, Rush.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been a longtime listener all the way back to your TV days.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 My wife and I still reminisce about coming up out of the sofa and saying, “That guy\u2019s finally sayin\u2019 what we think!”<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, thank you very much.\u00a0 I profoundly appreciate that.\u00a0 I really do.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, hey, I was listening to your monologue this morning, and you had mentioned why hadn\u2019t Democrats vanquished all the Republicans since the Republicans are to blame for everything being so miserable. And I just wanted to say that I think the answer is they need Republicans to blame because they do get poor business results; they always will get poor business results. Hence, they will always need some Republicans to be able to explain to their group why things are as miserable as they are.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, this is true.\u00a0 They need demons. There\u2019s no question. They have to demonize somebody, and they end up blaming somebody for their own policy and personal failures.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 What I would like to see is Donald Trump, being a businessman, you know, just do a little Business 101.\u00a0 I worked for a pipeline company before I retired, and when you were in the boardroom, you had to talk about your results, and you didn\u2019t get to say, “Hey, I\u2019m tryin\u2019 real hard.\u00a0 Sorry.”\u00a0 You had to produce.\u00a0 I think Trump could very simply explain about how, you know, business results work and then point out the metrics — like, he did some of that in his speech — and just keep hammering —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, wait a minute.\u00a0 I want to understand what you\u2019re saying.\u00a0 What is he not doing? What are you not hearing that you want him to correct, or what is he saying that\u2019s not correct?\u00a0 I need you to clarify.\u00a0 About what are you talking?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah, what I mean is actually giving the metrics. Like when you talk about, for instance, blacks are now having a 58% increase in their being on food stamps. You know, I mean, you could go through a list of performance metrics that really describe — and I would point right to the minority groups, because that\u2019s the Democratic constituency.\u00a0 And you just keep repeating those numbers. “The results are bad, and yet you people keep voting for this guy,” and then pivot, and say, “I\u2019m gonna change this.”<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 I see what you\u2019re saying. Yeah. See, I have advocated that, too.\u00a0 And I can tell you that, in my own inimitable fashion and style, I\u2019ve done that on this program since its beginning.\u00a0 And I have had the occasion several times talking to devout Democrats here, and I\u2019ve given them these numbers.\u00a0 I\u2019ve asked the question. It\u2019s been 50 years that they\u2019ve been voting in lockstep with Democrat Party, and I hear \u2019em as complaining as ever, I hear I \u2019em as angry as ever, I hear \u2019em as unsatisfied as ever.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019ve asked them: At what point are you gonna hold \u2019em accountable?\u00a0 They\u2019ve been promising you the Rose Garden for 50 years.\u00a0 They\u2019ve been promise you the end of this, the end of that, and we\u2019re nowhere near it. You\u2019re angrier than ever!\u00a0 So the question is, even when you hold up the results to them — even when you point it out to the African-Americans, since that\u2019s the group you\u2019re talking about — the unemployment rate, or the percentages of the population that don\u2019t have a dad at home, or how many are on food stamps.<\/p>\n

Even when you pound the results, the Democrats have succeeded in making them think, “Well, at least they\u2019re trying and the Republicans don\u2019t care,” and so the Democrats\u2019 retort to this has always been, “Ignore the results and examine our intentions,” because virtually everything they\u2019ve supported and promoted to fix all this inequality has bombed big time.\u00a0 The War on Poverty? Big failure.\u00a0 The Great Society? A big failure.\u00a0 The effort to play Santa Claus for everybody?<\/p>\n

No matter what, it\u2019s a big failure.\u00a0 We\u2019re $19 trillion in debt.\u00a0 The evidence is abundant.\u00a0 And yet, whenever there is a crisis, what do the American people do?\u00a0 They turn to government and demand, “You fix it! You fix it!”\u00a0 And who are they telling that to?\u00a0 The people that broke it.\u00a0 It\u2019s one of the very frustrating things.\u00a0 But the Democrats have succeeded in the light of psychological ops. They have succeeded in branding. And don\u2019t forget: Part and parcel of this is having the media on your side to make your case every day, both pro and con.<\/p>\n

So you\u2019re not supposed to look at the results.\u00a0 You\u2019re only supposed to look at the intentions.\u00a0 On that score, the Democrats win every time, because the conventional wisdom is, “The Democrats? Well, at least they care! At least they care! At least they\u2019re trying to help.\u00a0 You Republicans, you don\u2019t even care!\u00a0 You only care about the 1% on Wall Street.\u00a0 You don\u2019t even really care.\u00a0 You care about Halliburton, you care about going to war, but you don\u2019t care about me.”<\/p>\n

And the Democrats have succeeded. \u00a0I remind you again, the exit poll data, 2012, question: “Cares about people like me: Obama, 81%; Romney, 19%.” See, I think one of the advantages of Trump is that stuff doesn\u2019t matter anymore.\u00a0 ‘Cause I don\u2019t think people look at Trump that way. Trump is not seen as one of “those” Republicans.\u00a0 Trump is, at the moment, exempt.\u00a0 I saw these signs at the convention last night, and they have three words.\u00a0 Each word on top of the other:\u00a0 “Love Trumps Hate.”\u00a0 Okay?<\/p>\n

Now, in the first place, if you see those signs en masse from a distance, what you actually see is “Love Trump,” not “Love Trumps.”\u00a0 You don\u2019t see the “S.”\u00a0 But why did it become automatic that Trump is a hater?\u00a0 You see, Trump… We\u2019ve known Donald Trump for 30 years or more.\u00a0 Donald Trump has been in the public eye for 30 years.\u00a0 He\u2019s been hosting his TV shows. He has been on every news show there is! (chuckles) Donald Trump is everywhere.\u00a0 Donald Trump\u2019s one of the biggest celebrities in this country — and only when he started running for office did he all of a sudden become a racist.<\/p>\n

For 30 years, nobody called Donald Trump a racist.<\/p>\n

For 30 years, nobody ever said Donald Trump hated anybody.<\/p>\n

In fact, it\u2019s the exact opposite.\u00a0 But now Donald Trump is the Republican presidential nominee, and guess what?\u00a0 Automatic racist and he hates.\u00a0 It\u2019s just axiomatic. This is what the Democrats are gonna do.\u00a0 So you have the sign, “Love Trumps Hate.”\u00a0 What hate?\u00a0 Who does Trump hate?\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t hate anybody.\u00a0 Trump loves people this country, and it\u2019s patently obvious.\u00a0 And Trump is not a racist, but he has become one.\u00a0 So this is the way they do things, and this is one of the things that is… I don\u2019t want to say “depressing.”<\/p>\n

How are they able to make these low-information people believe this?\u00a0 People that have been following Donald Trump, people have been watching The Apprentice, people that have been aware of Trump for 30 years and all of a sudden the Democrat Party starts calling him a racist, and, bammo, he\u2019s a racist, except that he isn\u2019t.\u00a0 But that\u2019s their technique. That\u2019s how they go about it.<\/p>\n

Grab sound bite number 28.\u00a0 Do you know who Alexandra Pelosi is? Nancy Pelosi\u2019s daughter.\u00a0 She\u2019s a filmmaker.\u00a0 I remember when I heard that George W. Bush granted her permission to follow him around during his campaign — Pelosi\u2019s daughter! — and somebody said, “Oh, yeah, Alexandra, for your documentary on HBO?\u00a0 Absolutely.”\u00a0 I\u2019m saying, “What in the world?\u00a0 Do you realize you\u2019re just gonna have a hit piece on your campaign on HBO from Pelosi\u2019s daughter?”\u00a0 And for the most part it was.<\/p>\n

So now she\u2019s been made this — because of this she has a media profile. I don\u2019t know how high it is, but she\u2019s bopping around Philadelphia now, and she\u2019s got a new HBO special coming called Meet the Donors:\u00a0 Does Money Talk?\u00a0 So she was on CNN this morning on one of their early morning news programs, John Berman was the host, and said, “Really?\u00a0 You\u2019re doing a documentary on money in politics?\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 We didn\u2019t know that.\u00a0 I mean, you\u2019re kidding us, right?”<\/p>\n

ALEXANDRA:\u00a0 At this convention what you see is you see money.\u00a0 And you didn\u2019t see it in Ohio, because they weren\u2019t really out there for Trump, you know, the big donors haven\u2019t been behind Trump up \u2019til now.\u00a0 Now he\u2019s recruiting them.\u00a0 But Hillary\u2019s gonna need these people to pay the bill, to run all those ads to talk about how Donald Trump\u2019s gonna destroy America.\u00a0 That\u2019s where the billions of dollars are gonna go into these terrible ads.\u00a0 Who\u2019s paying for those ads? What are they doing here?\u00a0 They\u2019re having parties.\u00a0 Snoop Dogg is here; Fergie is here; Lady Gaga is here.\u00a0 I mean, this is where — this is like prime time good parties that they\u2019re having at this convention.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 So, you see, what\u2019s happening is the Democrat Party is hip and it\u2019s cool.\u00a0 They\u2019ve got Snoop Dogg. They\u2019ve got Fergie of the Black-Eyed Peas. They have Lady Gaga, who just broke up with her boyfriend, the fireman guy, it\u2019s a tragedy. And they got all these people paying all this money to see all these celebrities; and Trump\u2019s got bupkis.\u00a0 So what\u2019s happening here, this is really cool, and the rest of you people out there, you\u2019re not really in touch \u2019cause you\u2019re not cool, but we Democrats, we\u2019re cool.\u00a0 We got Lady Gaga, minus her fireman guy boyfriend; we got Fergie; we got Snoop Dogg.\u00a0 Except what\u2019s Trump got?\u00a0 Nothing.\u00a0 Except that Trump is a bigger celebrity than all three of these people.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
