\"Listen<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: I got an email. During the break I check \u2019em, I just don\u2019t read them verbatim to you.\u00a0 I summarize them.\u00a0 “Rush, come on, tell us the truth.\u00a0 You love watching these Democrat conventions.”\u00a0 I don\u2019t, folks.\u00a0 Maybe in the past.\u00a0 But I imagine I\u2019m no different than you.\u00a0 It\u2019s torture.<\/p>\n

You care about the country, you care about the future, and you watch this, you turn these people on and you listen to the world that they project, you listen to the country they reflect.\u00a0 You listen to the dystopian, negative, cataclysmic set of circumstances they want everybody to think they\u2019re living in.\u00a0 I mean, it would be different if they got 20, 30% of the vote, but they win sometimes.\u00a0 It\u2019s tortuous watching this stuff when you realize that it has a good chance of winning, that there are enough people out there moved by this.\u00a0 That\u2019s scary to me.\u00a0 It\u2019s tortuous watching this.<\/p>\n

As I said at the beginning of the program, I watch these things now entirely differently.\u00a0 I remember back, this program actually began August 1st, 1988, and it was right in the middle of the George H. W. Bush and Michael Dukakis campaign.\u00a0 And you talk about fun.\u00a0 I mean, there was Dukakis running around in a tank looking like Beetle Bailey wearing his army helmet.\u00a0 It was obviously lunacy. It was insane.\u00a0 Remember, this was the Reagan third term, this was 1988 and Bush was campaigning that way. And even though when this program started Dukakis was way up in the polls, nobody thought it was gonna hold up and it didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

But back in 1988, there was a confidence, there was a decent expectation that the left, as embodied by Dukakis, was gonna be vanquished.\u00a0 And then 1992 came, well, before we got to \u201992, we had some serious policy malfunctions before that, like the “Read my lips:\u00a0 No new taxes” backtrack and the Clinton campaign came along and even then we had all kinds of opportunity for jocularity and mimicking and mocking and so forth that we did, all the way through \u201996 and 2000.\u00a0 In 2000 and the Florida recount aftermath is when I track the seminal change, and that\u2019s now 16 years ago, and it just seems like yesterday.<\/p>\n

The Democrats have never been the same since that recount.\u00a0 They\u2019ve always been liberal, but the radicals have taken over that party.\u00a0 The protestor generation of the sixties has come of age, taken over that party, 100 percent.\u00a0 There aren\u2019t any mainstream, moderate Democrats left.\u00a0 You might have some of them try to act that way.\u00a0 And that Florida recount, that aftermath, when they lost the Electoral College, legitimately, but they think the whole thing was stolen from \u2019em at the Supreme Court.\u00a0 There was no way, based on what had happened and the vote outcome that they were going to win.\u00a0 But yet they won the popular vote.\u00a0 And that created a sense of rage and anger that has not abated.\u00a0 It has only intensified.<\/p>\n

It came to its ugliest fruition during the George W. Bush administration.\u00a0 And they have been nothing but hate-filled and angry and pessimistic.\u00a0 They\u2019ve always ripped America.\u00a0 They\u2019ve never thought America was the solution.\u00a0 Michelle Obama last night, I have to tell you, listening to her praise the founders, I\u2019m sorry, but I wasn\u2019t buying that.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think Michelle and Barack Obama really think much of the founders.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a popular statement that they\u2019re using now, which I think betrays something, actually, or portrays something, whichever it is.\u00a0 Obama has begun saying it a lot, and last night she said it.\u00a0 No matter, no matter when or what the occasion, they can\u2019t stop talking about slavery.\u00a0 And largely, in a context of, “Hey, you know what?\u00a0 It isn\u2019t settled yet.\u00a0 Hey, you know what?\u00a0 We haven\u2019t fixed it yet.”\u00a0 I mean, that\u2019s their starting point.\u00a0 And I think that\u2019s a no-win situation for us.\u00a0 Because we\u2019ve made great strides.<\/p>\n

This country has made phenomenal strides since then, undeniable. \u00a0And we\u2019re one of the only countries on earth that has, Great Britain being the other.\u00a0 This country has done more for and was organized for minorities more than any other nation on earth.\u00a0 I gave a guy an analogy here on the program.\u00a0 We had a guy call and wanted to know what I thought was so bad about grievance politics.\u00a0 And I made an analogy for him.\u00a0 I said, “Sir, are you married?”\u00a0 He said, “Yeah.”<\/p>\n

I said imagine that your wife has an affair, and it causes all kinds of acrimony. You almost lose your marriage, it\u2019s really a rocky period of time.\u00a0 But you and your wife get together, and you decide that you\u2019re gonna forgive her, you\u2019re gonna look past it for the sake of the marriage and your kids, and you move forward.\u00a0 He said, “Okay.”<\/p>\n

Now, imagine, sir, every argument you have, you continue to remind her that she\u2019s to blame for everything because she\u2019s the one that had the affair.\u00a0 I said your relationship doesn\u2019t have a prayer if you can\u2019t let it go.\u00a0 If all you can do is continue to remind her what you\u2019ve already forgiven her for, then the days of your relationship are over.\u00a0 And the grievance industry does that. They don\u2019t want solutions.\u00a0 They want to be able to do just that.\u00a0 No matter what progress, no matter what agreements, no matter what, they don\u2019t want to acknowledge that anything has been done.\u00a0 And that\u2019s how I hear the Obamas.<\/p>\n

They love to wax eloquent about the early days of the country and how they were three-fifths of a person, even though they never have been three-fifths of a person.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t even have any slave blood.\u00a0 She does, but he doesn\u2019t.\u00a0 But they will admit they\u2019re never gonna let it go.\u00a0 They\u2019re never gonna let it go.\u00a0 So whenever we as a nation have an argument, they\u2019re always gonna be circling back to that or the way women were treated, things that have been dealt with, things that have been addressed, maybe not fixed forever, but addressed very significantly.\u00a0 But they won\u2019t let it go.<\/p>\n

So we\u2019re not making any progress here, by design.\u00a0 So when a speech is heralded and contains all of these references to America\u2019s reprobate, dishonest, putrid, racist-pig past, and then the rest of the speech makes it look like there has been some progress like “Now I wake up in a house built by slaves.”\u00a0 I mean, what is what is the point of that?\u00a0 I get it on one level.\u00a0 If it were really uttered as an acknowledgment of the profound progress, then it would be great, but I don\u2019t sense it, \u2019cause I don\u2019t see it any other time.<\/p>\n

So when Michelle starts praising the Founding Fathers — where has that been the last seven and a half years?\u00a0 Have you ever heard her talk in those terms?\u00a0 It\u2019s like they think there are certain things they have to say. In fact, liberals know they have to campaign as conservatives to win, but then to hell with it.\u00a0 Republicans think the same thing.\u00a0 Have to campaign as conservatives. You certainly can\u2019t campaign as your radical leftist, you know, moon walk fruitcake and get elected to anything.\u00a0 Even after a convention like this, they\u2019re gonna come out and say it\u2019s all about trying to portray Hillary as moderate.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s the real reason Bernie was allowed to keep going \u2019cause he\u2019s wacko leftist, he\u2019s there for two purposes: Make it look like she can overcome a fight. Make sure we can win a battle when it was a coronation to begin with, and he was also there to position her as a centrist, when she is as radical as Bill Clinton or Barack Obama or Saul Alinsky or any other leftist you want to name.\u00a0 So it\u2019s torture watching this stuff.\u00a0 I mean, all kinds of opportunity for great jokes and bits and funny lines present, but at the end of the day half the country, or close to it, this is gospel to \u2019em.\u00a0 And that is depressing.\u00a0 That is scary to me.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s why they\u2019ve gotta be defeated.\u00a0 And in the process of defeating them, these people that are voting for \u2019em are gonna have to be educated and informed.\u00a0 Their lives could be so much better if they would let go of the notion that they are powerless.\u00a0 But when these guys start talking last night about how there\u2019s no future in individualism, rugged or otherwise, that the only thing that matters is standing together, it\u2019s so cliched.\u00a0 Of course people stand together.\u00a0 People come from families.<\/p>\n

I saw a story about some Democrat describing how they are going to really ultimately ban guns, and they\u2019re going to do it with language.\u00a0 Some delegate at the convention admitted to a member of the media.\u00a0 “Oh, yeah, it\u2019s the way we talk about it.\u00a0 We can\u2019t ever go out as a party and say,\u00a0‘We want to get rid of the Second Amendment. We want you to have to give up of your gun.\u2019<\/a>\u00a0 We\u2019re instead gonna talk about common sense gun law.\u00a0 And then after we use the phrase ‘common sense gun law,\u2019 then we\u2019re gonna bring out parents of people who\u2019ve been killed by gun violence. We\u2019re gonna portray the gun and having a gun as the opposite of common sense.”<\/p>\n
