RUSH: Dolores in Columbus, great to have you.\u00a0 By the way, Dolores, after your call, we just got a new poll in from Ohio, Suffolk University, and we\u2019ll have details of that after you finish.\u00a0 What\u2019s up?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, I have a little bit different take on the happenings of last night.\u00a0 Until last night I had almost persuaded myself that I could actually vote against Hillary Clinton by voting for Donald Trump, and I did not watch the convention last night.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t watched any of it. But our local station puts on a program reviewing it.\u00a0 So when that came on last night, they were talking about Cruz being booed and what a terrible performance he had.<\/p>\n

So this morning I went online and watched it, and I thought it was an absolutely wonderful speech.\u00a0 I thought it was marvelous.\u00a0 I thought it was, you know, very patriotic and uplifting.\u00a0 However, I also, in… Toward the end of it heard the, “Endorse Trump! Endorse Trump!” and since Trump knew what he was gonna say, and knew that he was not gonna endorse him, I have to sort of think that maybe that was put up.<\/p>\n

Over the last year, I have come to have a very low opinion of Donald Trump\u2019s character, and I think, you know, that was deliberately planned to make Cruz look foolish.\u00a0 And I\u2019m sorry, I think Donald Trump is an insecure, arrogant, thin-skinned boy.\u00a0 And nothing that I\u2019ve seen or heard in the last year has persuaded me anything about that that\u2019s what he is.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what I\u2019m gonna do now.\u00a0 I cannot vote for Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t like her 25 years ago; I certainly don\u2019t like her now. But I don\u2019t know what to do. Right now, I don\u2019t know. \u00a0I have a very low opinion of Trump.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Dolores, I\u2019m gonna tell you what you have to do. And it is not going to be easy for you, but it will be a patriotic thing.\u00a0 You have got to vote for Trump.\u00a0 Voting for anybody else… If there\u2019s a third-party option and you vote for that, you\u2019re voting for Hillary. No matter what. You may not even pull the lever for her, but if you don\u2019t vote Trump, you are voting for Hillary. You\u2019re helping Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 There\u2019s no other way, unless the third-party would happen to be Bernie Sanders or Fauxcahontas.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 That\u2019s even worse.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 But that\u2019s not gonna happen.\u00a0 The third-party candidates are gonna be people that would take votes, in large part, away from Trump.\u00a0 Now, I tell you: I think you have a point, however.\u00a0 I think… You know, Peter King, a congressman from New York out there on Long Island hates Cruz.\u00a0 He hates Cruz more than Mitch McConnell hates Cruz.\u00a0 He hates Cruz more than Boehner hates Cruz.<\/p>\n

He hates Cruz more than Boehner and McConnell combined hate Cruz.\u00a0 And he\u2019s in the New York delegation.\u00a0 And if you\u2019re right, it would have been Peter King leading that chant: “Endorse Trump! Endorse Trump!”\u00a0 It probably was the New York delegation behind that.\u00a0 Now, your theory is that it was set up, that it was planned; that if Cruz didn\u2019t endorse, the New York delegation at some point in the speech was gonna launch into Cruz, disrupt him and so forth.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, you may be right.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 It\u2019s Trump character.\u00a0 I\u2019m sorry, he\u2019s the one that\u2019s presented himself the way he\u2019s presented himself.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 I probably in the end will once again hold my nose and vote for a Republican, although I don\u2019t really think he\u2019s Republican.\u00a0 But, you know, I wrote our secretary of state and our State Department representatives asking for an option on the ballot, “None of the above” so that everybody who felt like me could vote for neither one of them, but they didn\u2019t respond.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 I know you want to vote your conscience.\u00a0 What is it that you don\u2019t like about Hillary Clinton?\u00a0 Why could you never vote for her?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, you paid attention to her for the last 25 years.\u00a0 The woman\u2019s a creep.\u00a0 She\u2019s dishonest. She\u2019s —<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Corrupt.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 — just awful.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 She\u2019s dishonest, she\u2019s corrupt, she\u2019s incompetent.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yep.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 She does think of herself as royalty.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 I know.\u00a0 I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 You\u2019re in a position that I don\u2019t know how many people are in, but you\u2019re not alone in your opinion of Trump and your dilemma here over what to do.\u00a0 But that\u2019s what it\u2019s always been for me.\u00a0 This whole campaign, to me — and Newt said it, maybe. Was it Newt last night?\u00a0 If it wasn\u2019t Newt, it was somebody.\u00a0 It might have been Cruz.\u00a0 It might have been Cruz this morning the Texas delegation.\u00a0 It was either that or in his speech.<\/p>\n

Cruz said just trying to defeat Hillary Clinton is not gonna be enough.\u00a0 You\u2019ve gotta be voting for principle. You have to be voting for freedom. You have to be voting for things.\u00a0 I forget the exact riff.\u00a0 But it was either Newt or Cruz that made the point that the anti-Hillary motivation is simply not enough. Maybe it was Cruz\u2019s speech last night.\u00a0 Which, again, coming from Cruz is a… Well, that\u2019s another slap at Trump.<\/p>\n

Because that\u2019s one of the primary reasons that people who have cold feet about Trump are nevertheless gonna vote for him is because, if anything, it\u2019s better than Hillary.\u00a0 But that\u2019s what it\u2019s always been for me.\u00a0 I mean, it\u2019s not even close.\u00a0 Now, I didn\u2019t want to fall into a trap this year of ever feeling like I couldn\u2019t vote \u2019cause my guy didn\u2019t win, and that then leads to my vote or non-vote eventually helping Hillary Clinton.\u00a0 That\u2019s unacceptable.<\/p>\n

Because, folks, voting for Hillary is voting for Obama.\u00a0 It\u2019s voting for everything that\u2019s going on now continuing and being doubled down and tripled down.\u00a0 And it\u2019s just… Four more years of this stuff is not recoverable.\u00a0 You know, Pence had a great line last night. “Hillary Clinton\u2019s secretary of the status quo.” It\u2019s a great, great, great line.\u00a0 Pence\u2019s speech was fabulous last night.\u00a0 Pence was great last night.\u00a0 And Pence…<\/p>\n
