{"id":213910,"date":"2016-07-05T18:42:27","date_gmt":"2016-07-05T22:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/172.24.32.11\/daily\/2016\/07\/05\/the_james_comey_sound_bite_roster\/"},"modified":"2017-07-10T11:07:03","modified_gmt":"2017-07-10T15:07:03","slug":"the_james_comey_sound_bite_roster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/admin.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2016\/07\/05\/the_james_comey_sound_bite_roster\/","title":{"rendered":"The James Comey Sound Bite Roster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/live-rush-limbaugh.pantheonsite.io\/videos\/37\/72124\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img class=\"alignright\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/listentoit.jpg\" alt=\"Listen to it Button\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<section>RUSH: Look, let\u2019s just go to some of the audio sound bites from the FBI director James Comey today so that you can hear if you missed it, you can hear in his own words a review and content of what he actually said here.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the first one.<\/p>\n<p>COMEY:\u00a0 Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_124445\" class=\"img_middle\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/James-Comey-070516.jpg\" align=\"middle\" \/>RUSH:\u00a0 Stop the tape.\u00a0 &#8220;Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws,&#8221; blah, blah, blah, &#8220;governing the handling of classified info, there is evidence they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.&#8221;\u00a0 What does that say about her qualifications?\u00a0 My only point is here, there\u2019s plenty of room to go after her on incompetence, can\u2019t trust her.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think she should get a pass.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hey, you know, she deleted emails just like you and I do.\u00a0 She deleted a portion of her inbox, get too big, she takes some emails out, you and I do the same thing.&#8221; Well, the secretary of state\u2019s not you and me, number one.\u00a0 Number two, you talk about intent.\u00a0 Why have an off-site server in the first place?\u00a0 Why have a server that is not a part of the State Department, therefore the government record, if you are not intending to traffic in secrecy?\u00a0 And if you are intending to traffic in secrecy and you happen to be trafficking in top secret, classified data, and you are extremely careless, grossly negligent in it, do we want somebody like that at the helm of this country?\u00a0 Here\u2019s the rest of the bite.<\/p>\n<p>COMEY:\u00a0 Seven email chains concern matters that were classified at the top secret special access program at the time they were sent and received.\u00a0 There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton\u2019s position or in the position of those with whom she was corresponding about those matters should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ghph_361wa0\" width=\"585\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 All right.\u00a0 Now, look, I\u2019m gonna go out on a limb here.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know Comey.\u00a0 I only know people who do know Comey.\u00a0 I first heard of James Comey back when he was John Ashcroft\u2019s aide. He was one of his top deputies, and Ashcroft is from Missouri, impeccable character.\u00a0 And so Comey benefits from that, in terms of my knowledge.\u00a0 I only people who know Comey and they say the same things about Comey they said about Pat Fitzgerald.\u00a0 He\u2019s above doubt.\u00a0 He\u2019s a straight shooter.\u00a0 He\u2019s law and order, and he\u2019s not corruptible and so forth.\u00a0 I\u2019ve heard all this stuff. Okay, so let\u2019s go with that.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, I know his conclusion was no reasonable prosecutor would go after this case, but he has certainly laid out in great detail exactly what she did that is against the law, and the shield is that she didn\u2019t intend it.\u00a0 He has laid out a case of gross negligence.\u00a0 He has laid out a case that she was irresponsible in the way she was doing this.\u00a0 That cannot be denied.\u00a0 His conclusion, no reasonable prosecutor would go after this case, therefore he\u2019s not recommending such, fine and dandy.\u00a0 But it doesn\u2019t erase that the substance of his remarks here is to portray Hillary Clinton as grossly negligent and incompetent and reckless.\u00a0 He did that.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the next bite.<\/p>\n<p>COMEY:\u00a0 Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.\u00a0 Prosecutors necessarily weigh a number of factors before deciding whether to bring charges.\u00a0 There are obvious considerations like the strength of the evidence, especially regarding intent.\u00a0 Responsible decisions also consider the context of a person\u2019s actions and how similar situations have been handled in the past.\u00a0 In looking back at our investigations into the mishandling or removal of classified information, we cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Now, I don\u2019t know what to do with that. I mean, because there are people who have had charges brought against them for this.\u00a0 There are many who have had charges brought against them.\u00a0 In cases like this, Comey detailed violations.\u00a0 They may be grossly negligent, they may be careless, he detailed violations.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_124462\" class=\"img_middle\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Comey-Obama-Lynch.jpg\" align=\"middle\" \/>The fact that he says at the end of it, &#8220;Well, I don\u2019t think there\u2019s evidence of potential violations of the statutes.\u00a0 Our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor&#8221; &#8212; what I\u2019m thinking here is for you legal beagles, is even in such a case, prosecutors threaten the perp in order to make some kind of a deal to get some kind of a concession, admission of guilt.\u00a0 It\u2019s rare that, in a case like this or similar cases, that the prosecutor, &#8220;You know what?\u00a0 Nothing to see here, we\u2019ll see you later, adios, cheerio.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re always calling the potential defendant\u2019s counsel trying to make some kind of deal. Lesser charges for an admission of this, an admission of that. There was none of that in this case.\u00a0 There doesn\u2019t appear to me that there was any intention, any effort to actually find Mrs. Clinton culpable.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I know the reputation of James Comey.\u00a0 I\u2019ve cited it myself for you here, too.\u00a0 But I also know who runs this outfit, and that\u2019s Barack Hussein Obama, and ever since he and Eric Holder got hold of the DOJ it has been politicized from top to bottom in every which way you can imagine.\u00a0 So, you know, I\u2019m gonna have to ask people who know these things professionally and more knowledgeably than I do.<\/p>\n<p>But if you look at what Comey\u2019s done, if you go back and listen to this like we\u2019re doing here, he lays out, he details her negligence; her carelessness, he mentions the fact that there is evidence of extremely careless, the handling, no evidence of policy violations of the statutes, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.\u00a0 But he clearly lists item after item after item that makes it look like something seriously wrong went on here.\u00a0 So, in the political sense, there are things to pursue in the political process that go to her competence, her judgment, of her qualifications.\u00a0 Here\u2019s one more bite.<\/p>\n<p>COMEY:\u00a0 As a result, although the Department of Justice makes final decisions on matters like this, we are expressing to Justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case.\u00a0 I know there will be intense public debate in the wake of this recommendation, as there was throughout the investigation.\u00a0 What I can assure the American people is that this investigation was done honestly, competently, and independently.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_124474\" class=\"img_middle\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Comey-BW.jpg\" align=\"middle\" \/>No outside influence of any kind was brought to bear.\u00a0 I know there are many opinions expressed by people who are not part of the investigation, including people in government, but none of that mattered to us.\u00a0 Opinions are irrelevant, and they were all uninformed by insight into our investigations because we did our investigation the right way.\u00a0 Only facts matter.\u00a0 And the FBI found them here in an entirely apolitical and professional way.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t be prouder to be part of this organization.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 You know, in a way I can hear: diGenova, you don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about, you never did know what you were talking about.\u00a0 You were out there telling you people stuff going on in this office, and it wasn\u2019t going on, you weren\u2019t here, you didn\u2019t know.\u00a0 That\u2019s what I hear the him saying there. Not just to Joe diGenova, but to everybody else who claimed that they had inside sources at the FBI who were saying that there was scuttlebutt, that the FBI would face mass resignations if there was an indictment, if there wasn\u2019t a recommendation for charges, because goods are there, they\u2019ve got her.<\/p>\n<p>How many times did we hear this?\u00a0 And even with all that I keep saying, folks, we\u2019re being played here, and today we get the final act in and we are being played, but that doesn\u2019t end it.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:\u00a0 Rudy Giuliani was on Fox recently.\u00a0 I hope to have the audio sometime tomorrow, maybe.\u00a0 But he said on Fox that if the report that Comey gave today was an FBI background check, that Hillary would never get a security clearance.\u00a0 You want it summed up in one sentence?\u00a0 There you go.\u00a0 The report Comey gave today, if it was a background check that the FBI had done on her, she would never get a security clearance.<\/p>\n<p>Now, no reasonable prosecutor would ever seek charges on these kinds of things.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t even intend to do any of this.\u00a0 But he laid out every gross negligent act she committed with US national security and top secret data and documents.\u00a0 You know, the original announcement of Comey\u2019s appearance said it was also going to feature Q&amp;A with reporters.\u00a0 But he did not.\u00a0 The report I saw said that Comey was gonna address at 11. He showed up on time, too.\u00a0 He actually started at 11 o\u2019clock.<\/p>\n<p>The thing I saw, the promo for it said that he was gonna take reporters\u2019 questions later, or afterwards. I can\u2019t remember if I saw that was gonna be on camera or off camera.\u00a0 But I don\u2019t think he did either way, did he?\u00a0 Not that that means anything.\u00a0 I\u2019m just pointing it out.\u00a0 But I thought Rudy\u2019s way of looking at this is pretty fascinating.\u00a0 If this was an FBI background check, there\u2019s no way she gets a clearance, which means she could not hold these offices that she\u2019s had or is seeking.<\/p>\n<p>She trafficked in classified information.\u00a0 Comey admits that that happened.\u00a0 The FBI admits that she was grossly negligent sending and receiving top secret classified information on a private email server that was not protected.\u00a0 She has not been cleared, folks.\u00a0 This is the key.\u00a0 You\u2019re gonna have a lot of people say here, Democrat buddies, &#8220;Hey, man, I love it, Hillary was cleared.&#8221;\u00a0 She wasn\u2019t cleared.\u00a0 She just wasn\u2019t charged.\u00a0 It\u2019s a difference.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"eZObject_124473\" class=\"img_right\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/524459172_large.jpg\" align=\"right\" \/>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>RUSH: Giuliani also said that it would be unreasonable for a prosecutor not to bring charges and that it would be an abdication of duty. So Rudy, who used to run the US attorney\u2019s office, he was the US attorney, Southern District of Manhattan, is in direct opposition to James Comey.<\/p>\n<p>He said again that if there were an FBI background check, she would never get a security clearance, and that it would be unreasonable for a prosecutor not to bring charges, that it would be an abdication of duty to not bring charges based on what they uncovered.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing Comey said was that other people might be charged under the same circumstances.\u00a0 He said, &#8220;Now to be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences.\u00a0 To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions.\u00a0 But that is not what we are deciding now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I mean, I don\u2019t know how you interpret that other than she\u2019s different, she\u2019s not other people.\u00a0 Other people have faced sanctions or consequences, but she\u2019s not going to.\u00a0 You can add it up yourself and get to what you want to go to, but I told you it wasn\u2019t gonna happen.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RUSH: Look, let\u2019s just go to some of the audio sound bites from the FBI director James Comey today so that you can hear if you missed it, you can hear in his own words a review and content of what he actually said here.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the first one.
