RUSH: I have a note here that some Trump supporters are getting nervous.  There are two polls out. That Bloomberg poll that we talked about that has Trump down by 11 to Hillary.  There\u2019s another. It\u2019s a CBS poll that shows only 25% of Americans agree with Trump\u2019s policies and statements after the Orlando massacre; 51% disagree with what Trump said.  And this has some Trump supporters really getting nervous now, sounding like they may be close to throwing Trump overboard, but not the movement.  They think what Trump stands for is winning but that Trump may be on the verge of blowing it.  And, if you think I\u2019m making that up, stand by.  I have the headline here and the details. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Two Trump stories here.  The first one is from Breitbart.  Folks, there\u2019s a poll that came out yesterday or the day before. It was a Bloomberg poll that showed Hillary up by 11.  The aftermath of that poll was devastating for Republicans.  You have Republicans talking. We played the sound bites yesterday. Dan Senor and a number of others saying, “We gotta get control of this at our convention and we gotta come up with another candidate!  It\u2019s gonna be a landslide loss.  Trump\u2019s making a fool of himself.  He\u2019s making a fool of us. <\/p>\n

“Oh, my God, it\u2019s gonna be horrible,” just because of this one poll showing him losing ground, 11 points down.  It was Panic City, and it\u2019s continuing as Panic City.  And then Trump, he said something about going and talking to the NRA about changing their minds about people on watch lists being able to get guns.  The official position is that you can\u2019t deny people their constitutional right if they haven\u2019t committed a crime, if they are on a watch list and haven\u2019t committed a crime.  There are lot of people on the watch list who have no business being on the watch list. It\u2019s random access.<\/line><\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re on a watch list, it is one of the hardest things in the world to get off of one, and the NRA doesn\u2019t think that just \u2019cause you\u2019re on a watch list you should be denied the right to go through the process of buying a gun.  A lot of people are on watch lists who haven\u2019t committed crimes.  This guy maybe even was on a watch list.  You know, why was this guy calling the FBI, by the way?  Why did the San Bernardino Two call the FBI in the middle of the attack?  You know why they did it?  Their religion requires it! <\/p>\n

When you are committing jihad, you have to proclaim what you\u2019re doing in the middle of the attack.  That is part and parcel of the sacrifice that you are making.  That\u2019s why the… It\u2019s not that they\u2019re bragging about it.  It\u2019s… What is it?  I had it here and it scrolled already out of my view.  There\u2019s a name for it that is part and parcel of the process.  You\u2019re basically pursuing the 73 virgins here, which we\u2019ve now been told is 73 raisins.  All this time we\u2019ve been misinterpreting it.  It was not virgins; it\u2019s raisins.  So there\u2019s gonna be a lot of people perplexed. <\/p>\n

But, anyway, they have to.  The San Bernardino Two, they called the FBI, they called somebody.  This guy, Mateen, called the FBI and the media.  It\u2019s part of the commandment that if you engage in this activity, you have to proclaim that you\u2019re doing it.  It\u2019s part of the… I don\u2019t want to say “sacrifice,” but it\u2019s part of the… It\u2019s the equivalent of yelling Allahu Akbar publicly.  You might call it the jihad protocol.  So, anyway, Trump said… It\u2019s “bayat,” that\u2019s what it is.  b-a-y-a-t. You have to commit the bayat.  It has an actual name, and that\u2019s why.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not bragging.  They\u2019re not Looney Tunes.  They\u2019re not calling up and then trying…  It is actually part of what is commanded in the name… It\u2019s the name of the Islamic requirement that when you are committing jihad like this that you have to proclaim it.  Bayat — and I\u2019m pronouncing b-a-y-a-t.  Could be bay-at, ba-yat.  That is what it officially is.  It\u2019s not \u2019cause they\u2019re showing off.  It\u2019s not \u2019cause they\u2019re bragging.  They must pledge bayat.  They must pledge allegiance to Islam before they die, and that\u2019s what that is — and they\u2019re not doing it \u2019cause anybody\u2019s called \u2019em names. <\/p>\n

So Trump wants to go to the NRA. He said he wanted to go to the Florida and talk to them about maybe relaxing this idea that people on a watch list shouldn\u2019t be able to get a gun, and a bunch of red flags went up at the NRA.  The NRA has endorsed Trump, and this was Trump seen as sidling up with people on the Democrat side of the aisle on gun control while an attempted filibuster that the Democrats were conducting on this, so a bunch of red flags went up. <\/p>\n

That was after a bunch of red flags went up after the Bloomberg poll that shows Trump down 11 that had all these Republican establishment guys ready to pledge bayat themselves.  Hari-kari or whatever, as typified by Dan Senor yesterday.  They\u2019re already plotting maybe how to take this away from Trump at the convention in Cleveland.  He\u2019s down 11.  Remember we had the sound bites yesterday that presidential races, a lot of them are lost in June. (chuckles) Did you know that?  Polling data in June!  That\u2019s where you win or lose the election, according to some of these Republicans. <\/p>\n

Well, it wasn\u2019t just there.  I\u2019m holding here in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers a website printout from Breitbart News.  And here\u2019s the headline: “Trumpism Is Winning — Now We\u2019ll Have to See About Donald Trump Himself.”<\/a>  It\u2019s by somebody named Virgil.  Let me just lead the opening paragraph:  “A new poll makes clear: Donald Trump can win this election if he keeps hammering on the anvil. That is, hammering with the same hammer, on the same anvil, for the next five months. The anvil, of course, is the basic issue of homeland security, and the hammer is the action needed to keep the country safe. The latest Reuters poll…”<\/line><\/p>\n

You know, it might be Reuters.  I\u2019ve been saying Bloomberg.  It might have been a Reuters poll published by Bloomberg where Trump was down 11.  I think it was.  Doesn\u2019t matter.  The latest poll suffices.  The latest poll asked this question.  This is why the people at Breitbart are focusing on this rather than Trump being down 11.  You know, you see a poll like that where you look for good signs up.  By the way, in the same poll… No, I take it back. It\u2019s a CBS poll.  I mean, the panic is really starting to set in.  The CBS poll: Do you approve or disapprove of Donald Trump\u2019s response post-Orlando?<\/p>\n

Only 25% approve of Trump\u2019s response; 51% disapprove.  There are people saying, “You know, that\u2019s a bigger deal than being down 11.  I mean, for crying out loud! If your number one thing is building a wall, keeping the bad people out — and after terrorism happens Orlando and you go out and say, ‘See, I\u2019m right. We\u2019ve gotta do something! We\u2019ve gotta start keeping people out.\u2019 — and only 25% of people agree with you, and 51% don\u2019t, then there\u2019s panic that\u2019s beginning to set in.”  Breitbart is a very pro-Trump site, and they are now focusing on Trump being down, what he\u2019s gotta do.  And they say if he just keeps hammering the one issue… <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the Reuters question that they are focusing on.  “Agree\/Disagree: The United States should temporarily stop all Muslims from entering the United States.” Breitbart says the rest of this poll means nothing.  If Trump continues to harp on that, he\u2019s gonna win and win big, because 50% agree with that premise and 42% disagree.  So forget whatever else is in the poll, 50% agree with the statement — “The United States should temporarily stop all Muslims from entering the United States” — and 42% disagree. <\/p>\n

So the people at Breitbart are saying, that\u2019s it. That\u2019s it. That\u2019s where the election\u2019s won or lost.  If Trump doesn\u2019t waver on that, he\u2019s gonna win.  He can overcome the 11-point deficit.  He can overcome the post-Orlando comments, \u2019cause people are gonna forget about that.  But then they go on to say (and it\u2019s right here in the headline) : “Trumpism Is Winning — Now We\u2019ll Have to See About Donald Trump Himself.”  What these guys, I think, are saying is what a number of people have speculated all along, that this whole thing with Trump is about much more than Trump.  And the reason…<\/p>\n

You know, people been asking, “Why doesn\u2019t any of this stuff that Trump says that would destroy any other politician…? Why does it glance off? Why do his supporters not care?  He can insult anybody, he can say the most impolitic things, and it helps him!” Everybody\u2019s been curious about this, and my answer to that was is because when you boil all this done, it\u2019s about much more than Trump.  Trump represents something much larger than even himself. <\/line><\/p>\n

And people are so invested in it, they\u2019re not gonna allow their movement to be derailed, and they\u2019re gonna maintain support for the guy no matter what because it\u2019s the movement that matters.  And I think that\u2019s what this Breitbart piece is essentially saying.  “Trumpism Is Winning — Now We\u2019ll Have to See About Donald Trump Himself.” They\u2019re getting worried out there.  Wouldn\u2019t you say?  How would you interpret this?  They\u2019re worried about it.  They\u2019re worried about the 11 points.  They\u2019re worried about the fact that only 25% agree with what Trump said. <\/p>\n

And remember, now… Well, I know; there\u2019s all kinds of counter in that poll, too.  That poll is not flawless, but it\u2019s all you got to work with.  I\u2019m telling you, people react to this stuff.  They don\u2019t dig into it as deep as we do here.  They can point out all kinds of flaws in that poll.  Reuters, Bloomberg, I\u2019m not sure which it was.  But the point is that there are people getting nervous out there now, and it\u2019s really the first time.  Now, let\u2019s move on to the second Trump story.  Tell me if you\u2019ve heard it. This is in Vanity Fair, and it\u2019s a long story.  It\u2019s an exclusive. <\/p>\n

That word\u2019s in the headline:  “Exclusive:  Is Donald Trump\u2019s Endgame the Launch of Trump News?”<\/a>  This is a story positing that the whole purpose of this Trump campaign is to provide the launching pad\/platform for his own cable news operation.  And it\u2019s based on the fact that no matter where Trump goes, the ratings of that show skyrocket. No matter where it is. If he\u2019s on CNN, if he goes on Hannity, if he goes anywhere on Fox — and if it\u2019s known that he\u2019s gonna be there — the ratings skyrocket. <\/p>\n

And this story says that Trump is well aware of this and believes that he could start his own cable network with him as the central figure and star and start out number one, that he\u2019s got a built-in audience already from day one bigger than anybody else has. Fox, CNN, PMSNBC, of course.  Here\u2019s a little excerpt: “The breakout media star of 2016 is, inarguably, Donald Trump, who has masterfully — and horrifyingly — demonstrated an aptitude for manipulating the news cycle, gaining billions of dollars worth of free airtime, and dominating coverage on every screen.<\/line><\/p>\n

Now, several people around him are looking for a way to leverage his supporters into a new media platform and cable channel.  Trump is indeed considering creating his own media business, built on the audience that has supported him thus far in his bid to become the next president of the United States. According to several people briefed on the discussions, the presumptive Republican nominee is examining the opportunity presented by the ‘audience\u2019 currently supporting him.”<\/p>\n

Not the voters, not even the supporters. They write “the ‘audience\u2019 currently supporting him.” “He has also discussed the possibility of launching a ‘mini-media conglomerate\u2019 outside of his existing TV-production business, Trump Productions LLC.” You ponder that.  And it\u2019s very clever of these people.  I don\u2019t think these people at Vanity Fair realize how close they are here when they refer to Trump supporters as “the audience.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: The Examiner: “LGBT Community Explodes with Positive Social Media Support for Trump.”<\/a>  See? I knew this is gonna happen.  You know what?  You know what may become more important than polling data is likes on a social media.  I\u2019m not kidding.  There\u2019s all kinds of transformation going on out there, and polling data, polls are relics.  The social media stuff is so big and it\u2019s exploding, and if you end up with tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of likes out there, that can spread, and be much more influential than a positive or negative poll.  We\u2019ll just have to see.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
