CALLER:\u00a0 I just want to say, I\u2019m a big fan.\u00a0 My dad got me into you a long time ago. So I\u2019ve been listening ever since.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 That\u2019s great.\u00a0 I appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, the point I want to talk about is regards Trump and his comments on libel law with freedom of the press. But if you have time, I\u2019d also like to make an additional point I thought of about social justice.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Sure.\u00a0 Have at it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Okay, thank you.\u00a0 Well, I\u2019ve noticed that a lot of pundits and media people are attacking Trump for being anti-free press and for saying that he wants stronger libel laws.\u00a0 And personally, I really agree with Trump on this particular issue.\u00a0 No one knows better than you that there\u2019s a huge number of sites and media people out there that really don\u2019t care at all about news. They\u2019re more interested in just destroying people\u2019s lives.\u00a0 Think Gawker, BuzzFeed. So personally I have no issue with there being some potential consequences for just outright lying.\u00a0 So…<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, you know, here\u2019s what Trump is talking about with the libel laws.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 In the UK, it\u2019s much different than it is in the United States. \u00a0In the United States, if you are a public figure, you can\u2019t do diddly-squat. You just have to take it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 You have to eat it. You have to take it.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 If you want to fight it, then it\u2019s, “Hello, discovery,” and they go get every aspect of your life that they haven\u2019t yet discovered and they plaster that all over the place.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 It\u2019s impossible to defend yourself.\u00a0 You just have to swallow it. You have to accept that that\u2019s the price you pay for being famous or well-known or what have you, if you end up being a media target.\u00a0 Trump\u2019s point is that he is sick and tired of being lied about, and he wants recourse.\u00a0 Of course, it\u2019s got the media alarmed. You know, they\u2019re fighting this on First Amendment grounds and all kinds of stuff.\u00a0 It\u2019s got them very alarmed.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, yeah, and I\u2019ve noticed that if they can\u2019t find something — some dirt to plaster about you — they\u2019ll make something up.\u00a0 If they can\u2019t find anything.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Really?\u00a0 (chuckles) I wasn\u2019t aware of that. (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 My second point is about social justice.\u00a0 I mean, I\u2019ve got plenty of experience with that, you know, I actually went to a private school for a long time and got plenty of that.\u00a0 But I think that it\u2019s kind of interesting that I don\u2019t hear a lot of people talking about who\u2019s really losing in this campaign.\u00a0 Like, I\u2019ve noticed the social justice culture is currently kind of crashing.\u00a0 They\u2019re not just losing; they\u2019re losing with the full support of the PACs. They\u2019ve got the media — you know, the billionaires, the Zuckerbergs of the world, the politicians, and academia, all that combined — and they\u2019re still losing.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 How are you defining “losing”?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, you look at the language policing and the political correctness and the safe spaces and trigger warnings and microaggressions and, you know, racist trees — what you were talking about earlier — and people look at all this and they just think it\u2019s crap, and that\u2019s why they\u2019re supporting Trump.\u00a0 That\u2019s why I\u2019m supporting Trump.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, okay, but on these campuses, they\u2019re not losing.\u00a0 They are succeeding!\u00a0 They\u2019re getting all they want.\u00a0 They shut down the University of Missouri on a lie! On a total lie! You know what\u2019s been discovered about the University of Missouri, Rosser?<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 What?<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 The University of Missouri has had a statute since 1949 that prohibits students from pitching tents on campus and sleeping overnight.\u00a0 It dates back to assuring parents that their kids would be safely housed.\u00a0 All the University of Missouri would have had to do was tell this Butler kid, “Get your ass off the Quadrangle!<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: “You\u2019re not permitted to stay here! Get back in the dorm,” and they would have been totally within their bounds to do it.\u00a0 Instead, they allowed the chancellor to be canned and railroaded out of town on a false charge: Black Lives Matter, a bunch of crap that never happened.\u00a0 They\u2019re not losing.<\/p>\n

CALLER:\u00a0 Well, I think that you\u2019re right. It\u2019s so strong right now; they\u2019ve never been this strong.\u00a0 But if they break this time… I think they really did break in the eighties and they retreated into academia, like University of Missouri.\u00a0 But if they break now, it\u2019s over for them for a long time, because they\u2019d be breaking at the peak.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 Well, let me tell you something: I hope you\u2019re right. You\u2019re 17, and I hope you just keep on.\u00a0 I hope you\u2019re able to attract a whole lot of people to join you in the way you\u2019re thinking about this, because we need this kind of optimism and positive outlook with it.\u00a0 A lot of people are at their wits\u2019 end over this.\u00a0 They don\u2019t understand.\u00a0 It goes so far beyond political correctness now, and a lot of people are writing about it.\u00a0 It\u2019s one of these things I\u2019ve had here that I set aside. I didn\u2019t have a chance to get to it yesterday nor today, \u2019cause it\u2019s long. It\u2019s detailed.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s two actually pieces, Victor Davis Hanson<\/a> and David French<\/a>, both at National Review, trying to figure out how did all this happen where you have college kids at UC somewhere in southern California that three months after Ben Shapiro — himself not much older than a college student now — goes, makes a speech.\u00a0 Three months later the kids at that campus who weren\u2019t even at the speech need therapy to deal with the trauma of having realized that he spoke on campus! And the university is granting these therapy sessions.\u00a0 It\u2019s absurd.<\/p>\n

And so people wonder, “How is this happening?\u00a0 Why are we raising a generation of wuss smart-asses?”\u00a0 And the theories abound.\u00a0 But one of the most frequent theories is that it goes back to the parents, that at some point in the past parents felt the need to be friends with their kids and to have their kids respect them. Rather than raise them to deal with life circumstances, to toughen them up, to teach them how to deal with adversity, the objective became to remove any potential adversity and get rid of any possibility of adversity.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s been disastrous.<\/p>\n

You have people my age reminiscing on how our parents raised with us, and it\u2019s laughed at and smirked at and so forth.\u00a0 You know, Roger Ailes tells a story. Imagine this today.\u00a0 Roger Ailes tells the story — not just to me — that when he turned 18, his dad came to him and said, “So where are you gonna go?” \u00a0And Roger said, “What do you mean?”\u00a0 “Well, you\u2019re 18.\u00a0 You can\u2019t live here anymore, unless you want to pay for your room and board.”\u00a0 Roger grew up in Ohio.\u00a0 “When you\u2019re 18, you\u2019re on your own.\u00a0 Go out and make your way in the world, Son.\u00a0 That\u2019s what I prepared you for; that\u2019s the way I\u2019ve raised you.”<\/p>\n

Can you imagine what would happen to a parent who did that today?\u00a0 They\u2019d be hauled in for child abuse! They would have been — and some of you may think that\u2019s extreme, anyway. But it\u2019s an interesting story.\u00a0 It may be a little out there, but it\u2019s not uncommon in the sense that that\u2019s how parents raised kids, because the parents came from hardscrabble, tough times.\u00a0 They knew what it took, and the objective of being a parent was to prepare the child to deal with whatever life may throw at them.<\/p>\n

That, obviously, isn\u2019t happening in many cases.<\/p>\n

Now, in Rosser\u2019s case, it actually is happening. Apparently, you know, you haven\u2019t been raised as a wuss.\u00a0 Not everybody is.\u00a0 But it\u2019s definitely a societal, unique occurrence that differs greatly from much of our country\u2019s past in terms of the theories of child rearing.\u00a0 And you take leftists and put \u2019em in charge of schools where the kids are under the control of teachers and administrators much more than even their parents, and we have a bunch of young people being raised that are totally ill-equipped — if they ever get out of school — to deal with what life is really like, \u2019cause you\u2019re not gonna be treated like that. They\u2019re not gonna be accommodated this way.\u00a0 We hope.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s gonna be the other, and maybe these kids are gonna end up running businesses where the same kind of practices are gonna be permitted that have been going on at campus.<\/p>\n
