RUSH: Have you heard about this book written by Congressman X? “An anonymous congressman has dropped a bombshell election-year book that confirms why Americans hate their national government and have rallied to anti-establishment presidential candidates like Donald Trump.\u00a0 The veteran politician…” He\u2019s a Democrat, right? He\u2019s a Democrat. He calls himself Congressman X.\u00a0 The book is anonymous. It\u2019s 65 pages.\u00a0 Heck, it\u2019s not even a book.\u00a0 It could be an essay, a manifesto.<\/p>\n

But he “lays bare a rotten and corrupt Congress enslaved by lobbyists and interested only in re-election …\u00a0 ‘Like most of my colleagues, I promise my constituents a lot of stuff I can never deliver,\u2019 he admits. ‘But what the hell? It makes them happy hearing it … My main job is to keep my job.'”\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s what Ted Cruz told me the first time I had lunch with him. Cruz laid out for me what it was like when he arrived in the Senate, what he thought it was gonna be and what he found — and he was stunned.\u00a0 He said he couldn\u2019t find very many people that cared about issues of substance at all.<\/p>\n

The first and second priorities were reelection, which meant fundraising and everything that goes along with it.\u00a0 And if you want to be elected and you want to raise money, you don\u2019t make waves. You don\u2019t rock the boat. He was expecting — naively, I guess — that he would find himself a member of a bunch of big movers and shakers, and it\u2019s not what he found.\u00a0 And this guy, Congressman X, is confirming that.\u00a0 He\u2019s a Democrat, admitted Democrat.\u00a0 He “is either still in Congress or served sometime over the past two decades — says more time is spent fundraising than reading bills and calls Washington a ‘sinkhole of leeches.\u2019<\/p>\n

“The title of one chapter sums up his view of congressional leaders: ‘Harry Reid\u2019s a Pompous Ass,\u2019 he says…” Remember, it\u2019s a Democrat that wrote this.\u00a0 “The book, published by the small Mill City Press, is based on years of transcribed private discussions, which the congressman last November gave editor Robert Atkinson. Atkinson declined to say whether Congressman X is a current or former House member.\u00a0 X says the cloak of anonymity gave him the freedom to expose \ud7c0\ufffdsecrets, including how the public\u2019s money is wasted.<\/p>\n

“‘We spend money we don\u2019t have and blithely mortgage the future with a wink and a nod. Screw the next generation. It\u2019s about getting credit now, lookin\u2019 good for the upcoming election,\u2019 he says.\u00a0 He said he and his colleagues often lie to try to be all things to all people instead of tackling the nation\u2019s problems.\u00a0 ‘I contradict myself all the time, but few people notice,\u2019 X says. “‘One minute I rail against excessive spending and ballooning debt.<\/p>\n

“The next minute I\u2019m demanding more spending on education, health care, unemployment benefits, conservation projects, yadda, yadda, yadda.\u2019 Voters [i.e. us] are described as gullible, know-nothing jerks, while the only people who count are the big donors who pour billions of dollars into lobbying.” Well, we all know that. You and I know this. But there are a lot of people to whom a lot of this is gonna be news.\u00a0 We know the donor class has been running the show.\u00a0 We figured that out with amnesty and a couple of other things.<\/p>\n

“‘Voters are incredibly ignorant. It\u2019s far easier than you think to manipulate a nation of naive, self-absorbed sheep who crave instant gratification,'” and a four-bar cell signal that they are not paying for, “vents Congressman X. … He says money ‘corrupts\u2019 and House members are ‘puppets\u2019 to lobbyists who bankroll their campaigns. … ‘America\u2019s on an irreversible decline and no one in Washington seems to care . . . God help us.'”<\/p>\n

Another pull quote from Congressman X. (interruption) Well, he obviously cares but not enough to put his name to it.\u00a0 “Business organizations and unions fork over more than $3 billion a year to those who lobby the federal government. Does that tell you something? We\u2019re operating a f–king casino,\u2019 he says.\u00a0 He describes himself as a ‘closet moderate\u2019 who supports charter schools and tax vouchers to allow poor kids to go to private schools,” but he could never vote that way.\u00a0 He\u2019s a “closet moderate.”\u00a0 He\u2019s a liberal Democrat by reputation.<\/p>\n

RUSH:\u00a0 It looks like the conventional wisdom on the author of this book, Mr. X, is New York “Rep. Steve Israel (D-LI) They describe him as “a moderate who announced he\u2019s retiring and who has complained about the constant need to fundraise to finance re-election campaigns. But Israel, a novelist…” Look, I don\u2019t know. Moderate?\u00a0 In my dealings with him, he\u2019s anything but moderate.\u00a0 This guy ran the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee.\u00a0 This is the outfit… Republicans have one too, but is the outfit that tries to reelect as many Democrat members of the House as possible and get new ones.<\/p>\n

<\/a>They defame people and do all kinds of stuff in their fundraising.\u00a0 Nothing moderate about Israel.\u00a0 Anyway, he says, “Absolutely not true, never heard of it before. And frankly, now that I\u2019m leaving Congress, if I were to write a book like that, I would put my name on it.” It probably won\u2019t cause too many waves because, you know, when you get right down to brass tacks it isn\u2019t gonna surprise anyway.\u00a0 Now, I know… See, this is this is kind of thing comes out and a lot of people go, “All right.\u00a0 We\u2019re gonna blow the lid off the joint.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re gonna have the low-information people finally figure out what\u2019s going on!” And it never happens, does it?\u00a0 The low-information voter crowd, the Fakebook, fake news curators<\/a>, they never get the message.\u00a0 Nothing ever changes.\u00a0 And to those of us in the know, this is nothing we haven\u2019t suspected, nothing that we haven\u2019t really been convinced already is going on.\u00a0 A big loss… (interruption) No, I have not… (interruption) \u00a0What? (interruption) \u00a0What, Fakebook? (interruption) \u00a0No why would…? (interruption) \u00a0Why do you think?<\/p>\n

(interruption) \u00a0Zuckerberg did?\u00a0 You know, I\u2019m so… Folks, from the time I left here on Wednesday until last night, I was off the grid. So I\u2019m even now, as the program begins, still getting caught up.\u00a0 Zuckerberg said he\u2019s gonna do a sitdown with leading conservatives? (interruption) \u00a0Oh, to flush out the problem at Fakebook with them? (interruption) \u00a0Oh, well, no, I haven\u2019t been invited to that.\u00a0 Zuckerberg says there\u2019s no problem, that the censorship of conservatism is not happening at Fakebook?\u00a0 (interruption)<\/p>\n

Right.\u00a0 See, that\u2019s… (interruption) \u00a0Just blew the lid off. (interruption) \u00a0Yes, there is censorship at Fakebook.\u00a0 I mean, the people that did it admitted it.\u00a0 But, of course, no, there isn\u2019t any of that.\u00a0 So Zuckerberg says he\u2019s gonna have a meeting with conservatives try to smooth the water.\u00a0 (interruption) \u00a0No, I since I don\u2019t… I mean, I have a website where what I say is transcribed and written.
