CALLER: Well, it\u2019s great to talk to you, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Years ago, I had just gone in the Air Force, and an Air Force general said, “I hate to tell you this, but we\u2019re gonna lose our country.” And he was very high up in the military. I thought he cracked up. Then a few years later the Vietnam War started. We had no voice. The civilians had no voice. The liberals controlled the media completely. And I thought, my God, the general is right, we\u2019re gonna lose our country, and now today, we\u2019ve got a voice, we\u2019ve got you and others. We\u2019re not gonna lose our country. It doesn\u2019t matter which Republican, as long as Obama gets the nomination. His own party are sick of him. We\u2019re gonna straighten our country and we\u2019re gonna do better than ever.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I appreciate your optimism. We need more and more of that. Was your military superior that you were talking about Curtis LeMay by any chance?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. This man was air inspector general of the Air Force under Hap Arnold.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When Arnold retired in the Bay Area they used to talk.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And they both came to the conclusion before the Vietnam War that we were in trouble. I don\u2019t know exactly why. He mentioned a few things.<\/p>\n

RUSH: People think we\u2019re losing the country. We are in the process of losing the country. It\u2019s gotta be stopped. We are in the process. I appreciate your acknowledgement here, that as long as I\u2019m here we can\u2019t lose the country.<\/p>\n<\/p>\nCALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But I don\u2019t think the American people are ready to let go of it anyway.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We\u2019re not ready to let go of it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No way.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And even the Democratic Party are waking up to what we\u2019ve done —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, it\u2019s interesting that you say that, because I still have enough naive hope. I can\u2019t explain this, folks, you\u2019re going to think I\u2019m nuts. I\u2019ll be watching television, and I can\u2019t think of any names for you right now, but I\u2019ll see some Democrats, the Democrat Party, members of Congress, members of the Senate, and I fantasize about taking \u2019em aside, “You don\u2019t really support what this guy\u2019s doing, do you? You can\u2019t possibly.” Now, I know the party, the Democrat Party\u2019s gone total radical left. Let me put this another way. I refuse to believe that every Democrat voter has gone totally to the dark side, anti-American. I just don\u2019t think that\u2019s the case. <\/p>\n

Now, maybe I\u2019m wearing rose-colored glasses filled with hope here, silly dreamer, what have you. But my view is reflected simply in a belief that the Democrat Party does not hate the country. They\u2019ve got leaders that do, and they\u2019ve got the fringe base that does, but too many people live their lives as conservatives. They don\u2019t vote that way, but there are a lot of people raising their kids as conservatives do, spending their money as conservatives, basically living their lives with conservative values. They vote Democrat for a host of reasons, but I think ol\u2019 Lar here has a point about that, that some Democrats are starting to say, “Wait just a second, this is not what we signed up for.” Snerdley\u2019s facial expression, he thinks I\u2019ve lost it. You probably think that a couple days off will do me good. Think I\u2019m going soft, don\u2019t you? I\u2019m not going soft at all. <\/p>\n
