CALLER: Hi. Good morning. Thank you, sir. It\u2019s nice to talk with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m calling because this morning I was really excited. I saw that in the paper that Donald Trump said he\u2019s not gonna drive the pace car in Indy because he has other races that he may be getting into. I was really excited about that because we\u2019ve been members of the Tea Party for a couple years. We are, you know, BA degreed. We\u2019re not intellectuals. We don\u2019t go to the fancy bus when they\u2019re on the big circuit and all that kind of stuff. We vote.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. What\u2019s that got to do with Trump driving the pace car?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggles) We vote. That\u2019s what it has to do with it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I don\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. We are independents voters. He is not gonna drive the pace car because he has another race he\u2019s interested in running.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But that\u2019s not why he\u2019s not gonna drive the pace car.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s what it says in the paper.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, okay. (chuckles) Case closed. I rest my case. But what does it matter? Do you like or not like Trump? That\u2019s what I can\u2019t figure out.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I love Trump.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think he talks straight, he talks square. You know, Charles Krauthammer — <\/p>\n

RUSH: Ohhhh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — doesn\u2019t like him because he doesn\u2019t think he\u2019s presidential material.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I get it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: But he wouldn\u2019t elect Truman.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I get it, I get it, I get it. So when you hear him say he\u2019s got a more important race to run, you\u2019re happy?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Gotcha. Well, let me give you the rundown. Let me tell you what really happened here. The race officials of the Indy 500 asked Trump to drive the pace car. Trump says, “Yeah, I\u2019ll drive the pace car,” and then two Democrats in Indianapolis started raising holy hell about Trump being a divisive figure and a racist, and all of this because of what he\u2019s done with Obama and the birth certificate and stuff. They said it was impugning the reputation of the Indianapolis 500. They didn\u2019t need to make it partisan. You know, this was some local lawyer who\u2019s a Democrat fundraiser, operative, hack, or what have you. <\/p>\n

So they started raising holy hell. Now, I don\u2019t know if the race people went to Trump and said, “Please bail us out and quit,” because I don\u2019t know the Indy 500 people. My guess is they want no part of controversy or anything to do with anything like this. They thought they were hiring a reality TV star to drive the pace car, and then these two wacko lawyer Democrats at Indianapolis go nuts. So I don\u2019t know if Trump just pulled out on his own to help them or if they actually asked him to. But that — that, my friends — is the whole story.<\/p>\n
