I go to Burger King, I go to every place with my radio and I have you on because I just adored you all the time. I thought you were the smartest, greatest man — and you\u2019re a great patriot. You are. I\u2019m not saying you\u2019re not. But you\u2019ve got a lot of people calling up saying that they\u2019re mad at John Boehner, they don\u2019t like what he\u2019s doing and everything. Yet you\u2019re willing to give Chucky Schumer a break by defending this socialist —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second! <\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute, now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I didn\u2019t defend Chuck-U Schumer on anything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (shouting) Well, you making it sound like he\u2019s the best thing since Jesus Christ. Come on, Rush!<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, I did not. I\u2019m issuing a warning.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, you\u2019re not issuing a warning. Rush, let me tell you something.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How could you possibly miss my point on Chuck-U Schumer.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know what? Let me —<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you think I just said about Chuck Schumer?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just think you think he\u2019s so great because he\u2019s getting Obama\u2019s message out, okay? But when Boehner does that —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No! No! I didn\u2019t say that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, but that\u2019s what it comes across, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m a highly trained specialist, I can\u2019t believe —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I can\u2019t believe I didn\u2019t make this clearer.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Rush —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Chuck-U Schumer threw down the gauntlet. Chuck-U Schumer is trying to make the debt limit debate the most important debate on the role of government in this century, and the Republicans have checked out of it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: They haven\u2019t checked out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a trick! I\u2019m not praising him.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Listen to me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a trick!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush? Yes, everything they do is a trick. Okay? Because they have the news media on their side, they lie, and the news media —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, so why are you saying here that I was praising Chuck-U Schumer?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you (garbled) — <\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t want to play golf with Chuck-U Schumer.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — because you were sticking up for his guy but what you guys do is knock our guys down. I want to win! You take baby steps first, Rush! You know what? I\u2019ve been listening to you, Hannity, Levin — whom I adore, too — are you listening to me?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Of course. You told me to.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a true, die hard Republican conservative. You can\u2019t get any more than I am. I mean, I go gambling and I fight with people if they say they\u2019re Democrat, okay? I want you to know where I am.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you sober?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I am sober. I never had a drink in my life. <\/p>\n

All right, we\u2019re going to the phones. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I swear on the Holy Bible, okay?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just checking.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay? Never drink. You could ask any one of my friends. But you guys are coming across knocking our party constantly. You\u2019re turning Republicans against Republicans. You\u2019re eating our own! You\u2019ve got to stop. Anything is not perfect with what the Republicans are doing, but it\u2019s a baby step, Rush. Don\u2019t let us lose it. Don\u2019t let us. Already, I mean, we\u2019ve got a whole year to go and you\u2019re knocking our guys. We\u2019re never gonna win because, you know what? You\u2019re taking the heart and soul out of people. We need to win. We need to have some faith that we could do it, and the way you do it is knock knock knock knock knock!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second. <\/p>\n

CALLER: No! No!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. You\u2019re gonna listen for once, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I am taking the heart and soul out of no one.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I haven\u2019t done anything. I\u2019m not involved in the budget debate.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, come on. I know you\u2019re not involved really, but come on.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When you get on that radio and you stop — start dissecting everything they do and make it sound like what our guys are doing and nothing they do is right, okay? Nothing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh yes you did! <\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait a minute.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You don\u2019t have to connive!<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re way too generalized here. We praise… Look, this is silly my having to defend this. You\u2019re putting forth premises that are absurd. That I never praise our guys? That I\u2019m destroying people\u2019s attitudes, their hope, their future, their dreams? I\u2019m not doing anything of the sort! I am issuing a warning. I\u2019m simply commentating on what I see. Let me ask you something here: Was it I who promised a $100 billion in budget cuts?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Did I change my mind and promise $61 billion?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, that… Rush, look, if we have a brain, if you have a brain — people like me, which I like to think I have some sort of a brain anyway, you know what I\u2019m saying?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling) No, come on, Rush. I\u2019m not the smartest person in the world but I —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are accusing me of heinous things.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Like, I mean, you are the Second Coming to me and I\u2019m very hurt that you are not sticking up for our side.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, take constructive criticism, please. That\u2019s the way I mean it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: But you\u2019ve got to stop knocking; Levin\u2019s gotta stop knocking. You know what, we\u2019re not perfect but we\u2019re trying. Like I said: Baby steps. I want to win, Rush, I don\u2019t want a socialist country. I was born a little after the Depression, okay? I made it the hard way. I had to go out and get a mortgage; I had to prove I could pay for it, okay? And look what Barney Frank and what the other idiot did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Rosemary, where do you draw the line?<\/p>\n

CALLER: What do you mean, where do I draw the line?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, $100 billion has become $352 million.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You\u2019re not wrong, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now they\u2019re punting the debt ceiling down the road. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Where is your line of demarcation?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Look, Rush, I\u2019m not even gonna get into that because I\u2019ve got more reading to do on that. I\u2019m not gonna lie about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I don\u2019t want anybody getting anything for nothing. I grew up in a generation —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m not making fun of you! (laughing) You can\u2019t possibly listen to me. You are rejecting everything I\u2019ve said to you here. “I can\u2019t possibly talk about that. I haven\u2019t done my reading on it.” You listen to me. You don\u2019t need to do any reading. Anyway, I wish, Rosemary, you could see my e-mail. In my email, I\u2019m being accused of carrying their water. In my e-mail, I\u2019m being accused of being too soft. You know, if you want to celebrate, go ahead! There\u2019s nothing we can do to stop it. I mean, if you think $352 million is worth celebrating, go out there and rent some hall in Deerfield Beach and let\u2019s throw a party.
