RUSH: Summit, New Jersey. Jeff, I\u2019m glad you waited, sir. You\u2019re next on the EIB Network. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. Mega taxpaying, gun-clinging, religion-loving dittos.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much, sir. Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I called to talk about John Conyers but so much has transpired since I first called in I have to make one comment about Mr. Boehner.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The clip you just played, don\u2019t you find some delicious irony in his statement that talk is cheap; it\u2019s actions that actually mean something?<\/p>\n

RUSH: (chuckles) Well, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because he talked very much about wanting to repeal Obamacare, wanting to defund Obamacare, and his actions say that he wants everything but.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, he says they\u2019re gonna get to it. He just can\u2019t get to it this way because of the rules.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if I\u2019m not mistaken, didn\u2019t they circumvent this particular rule several hundred times?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, this rule like every other rule\u2019s been circumvented.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But see, the problem is (as it\u2019s been explained to me), “The Pelosi Congress just spat on every rule that was out there and we\u2019re not gonna be known for that. We\u2019re gonna run this house in an ethical way,” as though people are taking notes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So even to put things back in their proper order, to undo what the other Congress did by violating the rules, they won\u2019t simply circumvent this one rule to put things back the way they\u2019re supposed to be?<\/p>\n

RUSH: So it has been said, yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, on John Conyers I heard your comment before that Mr. Conyers said that he voted for the health care bill because it was the perfect platform or it was some sort of a platform from which they can then leap towards universal health care for everyone.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right. Single-payer.<\/p>\n

CALLER: If I\u2019m not mistaken when the health care bill was up for a vote and Mr. Conyers was asked about the health care bill, the details, didn\u2019t he have a quote in which he said, “I couldn\u2019t understand it, it\u2019s too long — and if I had an army of lawyers, I still couldn\u2019t understand it.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, it\u2019s actually right. You\u2019re absolutely right, he said he hadn\u2019t read the bill. He said they don\u2019t read any bills up there. They need lawyers to help understand this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So how can Mr. Conyers say he had any kind of substantive or factual reason for voting for a bill when he at the time said he couldn\u2019t understand even if he had lawyers interpreting it for him.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Great question. Answer it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uhhh, I think the politicians think that enough time has passed that they can make statements that completely contradict a prior position.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No! He didn\u2019t need to know what it said word-for-word. He knew what the objective was. The Democrats have had this health care bill in a drawer for 40 years. National health care, single-payer, whatever you want to call it has been their objective. He didn\u2019t care what the 2700 pages said. He knew that\u2019s what it was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So now he\u2019s telling the truth.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How it got there, he didn\u2019t care. He didn\u2019t need to know the details; he didn\u2019t care.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So you\u2019re saying now he\u2019s telling the truth?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: He was probably, in his own way, telling the version of the truth back then (summarized): “I don\u2019t need to know what\u2019s in it, I already do! I don\u2019t need to read this. I know what it is. We\u2019re liberals here. We know what we\u2019re gonna do. We\u2019re gonna put this government in charge of it. I mean, how this staff has written it, I couldn\u2019t care less! I\u2019m not gonna waste my time reading it because I know at the end of the day what it says in there.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019ve gotta say that feeling the way I do about Obamacare, about the Pelosi Congress, about the out of control government, that people like Mr. Boehner and others — just to jump back to the other track.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They ignore our will at their own peril if they think that we have short memories. If they think that we had a victory in November, and that\u2019s our pacifier, we\u2019re all gonna go home and forget about it…<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, now, wait. I\u2019m sure in remembering the budget shutdown of \u201995 they remember losing the House in 2006. So I know they haven\u2019t forgotten that. They know that you are thinking and there are people like you out there thinking the way you are.<\/p>\n

CALLER: There are many of us. It\u2019s why we\u2019re called the silent majority, but we were not silent back in November. We made our voices heard —<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — but we did it the proper way, not the way the other people did it just recently in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yep, that\u2019s right, but (sigh) you just don\u2019t know what all they have to do up there to get things done.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, it seems that they are so focused on where to deflect blame. I would suggest to Mr. Boehner that perhaps he should focus on taking credit rather than making sure he doesn\u2019t get saddled with undue blame.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, that is well stated, and that I think is a great way to frame this: Offense versus defense.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely. Look to take credit for positive steps. Don\u2019t play defense. Don\u2019t be afraid and look to simply not get pinned with blame.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, remember, it\u2019s like I told you yesterday: Fear kills.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think we\u2019re seeing a living example of it right now in Washington.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, it does. Fear kills. It paralyzes you. A snake could come up and bite you in the left breast and die of silicon poisoning if you had an implant, but fear kills. It just does.<\/p>\n
