RUSH: You gotta hear this. You know, last night, uh, uh, uh… It was the Iftar Dinner, the end of Ramadan in the White House, President Obama hosted the Iftar Dinner celebrating the end of Ramadan, and this is a portion of what he said.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Now, I know it\u2019s an Iftar dinner. (interruption) What? I\u2019m getting there, if you just chill in there. This has been a classic example of a day why you people on the other side of the glass do not have microphones. I understand it\u2019s Iftar and all that, but, if you just landed from Mars you woulda thought, you woulda thought that it was Muslims who were attacked on 9\/11. There\u2019s no mention of who the hijackers were at the Iftar dinner, was there? At least in this bite. We didn\u2019t hear it. Also, during the Ramadan speech, Obama said — we might have it, check it next — there should be no them or us anymore.<\/p>\n
Yeah, tell that to the Tea Party.<\/p>\n
BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n
RUSH: More of Obama from the Iftar dinner, last night at the White House.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: We must ask ourselves, how do we honor these patriots, those who died and those who served?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Stop the tape a minute. You know what? We gotta play these two together. We gotta play these two back-to-back, \u2019cause I\u2019m learning things here. It\u2019s the Iftar dinner, it\u2019s Ramadan dinner. So here\u2019s the first, Obama honoring the Muslim heroes of 9\/11.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: To you and your families, “Ramadan Kareem.” Like so many faiths, Islam has always been part of our American family. In one month we will mark the tenth anniversary of those awful attacks that brought so much pain to our hearts. Muslim Americans were innocent passengers on those planes. They were workers in the Twin Towers. Americans by birth and Americans by choice, they were cooks and waiters but also analysts and executives. There in the towers where they worked they came together for daily prayers and meals at Iftar.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: Muslim Americans were first responders. On this tenth anniversary we honor these men and women for what they are: American heroes. We must ask ourselves: “How do we honor those patriots?” those who died and those who served. Is in this season of remembrance, the answer is the same as it was ten Septembers ago. We must be the America they lived for and the America they died for, and the America they sacrificed for; an American that doesn\u2019t simply tolerate people of different backgrounds and beliefs but, uh, an America where we are enriched by our diversity.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah, right. Okay.<\/p>\n
OBAMA: An America where we treat one another with respect and with dignity.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Tea Party!<\/p>\n
OBAMA: Remember that here in the United States there is no them and us; it\u2019s just us.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Tell that to the Tea Party. And how do we honor \u2019em? We\u2019re going to build… They want a mosque at Ground Zero. I don\u2019t know where it is. I don\u2019t know where the project stands as of now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
