RUSH: Okay, the National Football League season opens tonight in Green Bay with the New Orleans Saints in town to play the Packers, and I\u2019m gonna tell you where you can watch the pregame show. There are five different places you can watch the pregame show instead of Obama\u2019s speech. NBC… This is unbelievable. NBC is carrying Obama\u2019s speech, but they are making the NBC pregame show available on five different cable networks including the NFL Network. They will be simulcasting it on Syfy, USA, Versus and G4, and — and, as I said, the NFL Network. NBC will pick it up after the president finishes his speech. I don\u2019t know how he can do a speech. They didn\u2019t do a jobs summit yet. You know, how many jobs summits did they do?<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is from The Politico: “Obama\u2019s Blaming Congress Tires Democrats.” Maxine Waters is out there. She\u2019s still revved up. She wants to know… Here the headline, Maxine Waters to Obama on employment: “Why didn\u2019t you treat blacks like you treat Iowans, like you care.” Yeah. “Just hours before Obama addresses a joint session of Congress on his [stupid, irrelevant, more of-the-same] jobs plan, Maxine Waters is demanding that the nation\u2019s first black president proves he cares as much about unemployed blacks as he does about Iowa\u2019s swing voters.<\/p>\n
“‘There are roughly three million African-Americans out of work today, a number nearly equal to the entire population of Iowa. I would suggest that if the entire population of Iowa, a key state on the electoral map and a place that served as a stop on the president\u2019s bus tour were unemployed, they\u2019d be mentioned in the president\u2019s speech and be the beneficiary of targeted public policy.'” This is Maxine Waters talking to Politico today. Then we have this story from the AP: “The number of people seeking unemployment benefits ticked up slightly last week, evidence the job market isn\u2019t improving.” No, it\u2019s evidence that Obama does not deserve another term!<\/p>\n
They even use the word “unexpected” again. “Weekly applications for unemployment benefits rose 2,000,” actually we went up 4,000; they\u2019re playing games here, “to a seasonally adjusted 414,000. The report suggests that companies aren\u2019t significantly increasing layoffs despite weak economic growth, but it also signals that little hiring is taking place.” No kidding! It “signals that little hiring is taking place,” when the number of people seeking unemployment benefits went up. Really? What was their first clue? So we get that news, more people applying for unemployment benefits on the very day that the Bamster shows up, joint session of Congress.<\/p>\n
He doesn\u2019t even deserve to be getting that opportunity, this a campaign speech, it\u2019s not even relevant. There hasn\u2019t even been a jobs summit preceding this speech. They\u2019re breaking new ground out there not in a good way. How can the president possibly know what to do? There haven\u2019t been any working groups to brainstorm the elusive question: How is a job created? There hasn\u2019t been anybody reporting back to the president so he\u2019ll know how to move ahead. Somebody that cares needs to tell Obama to call off this speech before he makes yet another mistake. Because in order to create jobs you have to do a jobs summit, and there hasn\u2019t been a jobs summit since the last jobs summit that he did.<\/p>\n

There are some far more preferable than others. But we\u2019ll get to the debate here in just a second. We have three hours here — and trust me, you will not be disappointed. “Over the course of August, Gallup asked 15,343 American adults whether they approved of the way Barack Obama was handling his job as president. The final result, the polling company reported today, was that only 41 percent said they approved, giving Obama the lowest monthly approval rating of his presidency. That is down 25 points from the 66 percent monthly approval Obama won in January 2009, the month he was [immaculated]. Obama also hit his lowest monthly approval among Hispanics during August, and tied his lowest monthly approval among blacks” in August.<\/p>\n
“During the month, Gallup interviewed 1,183 Hispanics and 48 percent of them said they approved of the job Obama was doing as president. Gallup also interviewed 1,137 blacks during August and 84 percent said they approved,” so they\u2019re lost. I mean, there\u2019s nothing much that can be done. It\u2019s just like the cop-killer vote. We\u2019ve lost that. The Democrats own the cop-killer vote.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, they don\u2019t have to be. The government can choose to subsidize whatever it wants to subsidize. In the case of Barack Obama, you have a committed leftist who is engaging —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Why don\u2019t they go to Jeffrey Immelt who\u2019s supposed to be creating all these jobs and doesn\u2019t have to pay any taxes?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, your suspicions are right. In fact, he\u2019s not creating jobs. GE is firing people.<\/p>\n
CALLER: They\u2019re creating them elsewhere, though.<\/p>\n
RUSH: No, GE\u2019s payrolls are down. They\u2019re laid people off. Look, the answer to this question is you have a committed leftist here who is attempting to upend the traditions and institutions that have made this country great — who has been made to believe or believes it himself that there really is such a thing as replaceable green, clean energy for fossil fuels. For whatever convoluted, cockamamie, insane reason he believes it — or, if he doesn\u2019t believe it, it\u2019s just a way of funneling money to campaign donors and friends, called crony capitalism or what have you.
