RUSH: Josephine in Vernon, New Jersey, as we go to the phones first time today. Josephine, thank you for waiting. Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you, Rush. I just absolutely am so excited to speak to you today.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Today is our 43rd anniversary. My husband is saying all week, “What do you want for your anniversary?” I said, “Nothing, Honey. I just want to speak to Rush.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) How did that make him feel?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I don\u2019t know, but he knows I love you, and he\u2019s read all your books and he\u2019s read your brother\u2019s books and we\u2019re long-time listeners. I have lunch with you every day. We have radios through the house, that all the dials are set and I have lunch with you and three hours.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I said, “Today is my anniversary. I\u2019m gonna listen to Rush and then I\u2019m gonna sit down and read. Nobody to bother me,” but I am so excited, so you made my day.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you a member of Rush 24\/7<\/a>, my website?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. Actually, we don\u2019t have the Internet. We\u2019re retired people, and I go down to the library whenever we have to converse with anybody. My kids, they say, “We can\u2019t believe you, mom and dad! You don\u2019t have electronic…?” They come here and they hyperventilate. But we are people; we live within our means.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I had a comment and then I had a question, and the comment was: “All these kids on Wall Street <\/a>that are just going crazy up and down, and they think everything belongs them, entitlements.” I\u2019ll tell you, Rush, we raised three kids, and we told our kids, “You are entitled to nothing. You\u2019re gonna work for everything,” and the kids worked. They worked summer jobs. They had paper routes. They all graduated college with honors. We said, “We\u2019ll help you halfway, but you\u2019re not entitled to anything.” You\u2019re gonna work for it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Josephine, I gotta stop you here. I want you to hold on through it break, but I just want to tell you: You are not in the minority. The effort is being made to make people like you think the country\u2019s passed you by and the way you raised your kids is passe, but it\u2019s not. Sit tight. We\u2019ll be right back to you.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: And we\u2019re back, and we have with us Josephine from Vernon, New Jersey. Josephine, I want to tell you, you don\u2019t have Internet, you have to go to the library.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Because we live below our means. If we canned afford it, we don\u2019t buy it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I just want to tell you, all of those Occupy Wall Street kids have iPads —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — iPhones —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — computers, Internet, and they\u2019re using public Wi-Fi down there in the midst of the protests, and you are heading off to the library?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yep. Because we taught our kids, if you don\u2019t have the money, you don\u2019t buy it, you don\u2019t spend it, and like I said, we educated three kids, they worked halfway for it, and we have no debt, and we live a very simple lifestyle, and we\u2019re very happy. And our only big luxury is we bought a little Bose Wave Radio so we could listen to you all the time. (laughing.)<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing.) Well, you\u2019re definitely throwbacks.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Huh?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re definitely throwbacks, there\u2019s no question about that. Is your budget constraint you don\u2019t want to spend the money on a computer or actual service for the Internet if you had a computer? Or both?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I guess both. We have an old Windows in our library upstairs —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, God.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) You\u2019re not gonna believe it, we don\u2019t even have cable. We took the cable out years ago when my husband retired. We read quite a bit. Like I said, my husband\u2019s read all your books and I\u2019m reading right now After America by Mark Steyn<\/a>, and he\u2019s talking about what\u2019s happening. So we get a lot of our —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No wonder you\u2019re so optimistic, energetic, and upbeat. You don\u2019t watch television, either. (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, it insults our intelligence. My husband misses his sports, but like I say when our kids come to visit, they\u2019re like (gasping). My son has his laptop, “I can\u2019t believe it, the way you live.” We took the cable out, the cable guy says, “Are you Amish?” I said, “No, we don\u2019t need it, because it\u2019s 50% garbage.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, not having TV and Internet is one good way to keep the kids from coming, so it has its up sides, too.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Yeah. Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You said you had two things you wanted to ask me about.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Well, my comment is about these brats on Wall Street<\/a>. They think they\u2019re entitled to everything, and they come from these liberal colleges, and it\u2019s just amazing —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but you also, didn\u2019t you have a question about Newt?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I did. That would be my last — that was my comment. And my question is, if he\u2019s ahead in the polls do you think he\u2019s gonna — the liberals are afraid if he gets in, actually they\u2019re happy if he gets in that Obama is gonna beat him very easily?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the basic question that you have is does Newt have a chance against Obama. That\u2019s what you\u2019re really asking me, and, see, I think any of them have a legitimate chance against Obama.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
