CALLER: Rush, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for changing the way I think, making me into an optimist, making me into a critical thinker, and also I was a union worker for 40 years, and I love you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh!<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I went to see you last night, Rush, you were awesome<\/a>.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Awww.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Let me tell you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: You\u2019re quite welcome, no thanks required. There were two people in line behind me, one from Louisiana, one from Virginia, mother and daughter, they asked if they\u2019re in the right line. I said, “This is the line for Obama, and $5,000 a plate,” and — <\/line>RUSH: (laughing) You know he\u2019s in New York today. He\u2019s got five fundraising stops in New York. It\u2019s the worst gridlock situation in Manhattan in I don\u2019t know how long. Do you realize what he missed? He could have been there last night, what Obama coulda learned if he\u2019d-a showed up last night. I\u2019m glad you liked it. I\u2019m glad you had a good time.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: And I\u2019ll come see you any time you\u2019re there. You\u2019re my hero. You taught me how to think; you taught me how to think for myself; you taught me how to be an optimist. And I\u2019ve been through this with Jimmy Carter before. I remember feeling bad and deflated, and I saw Ronaldus Magnus come in and I saw what he did. So I know it\u2019s not this country, and I know it\u2019s the leader of this country that\u2019s doing this. And thank you every day, every day. And I\u2019m a taxi driver, and I listen to you in the cab. You could not believe the people that tell me to shut off that radio. I kicked one lady out of the cab, I said, “This is America, I\u2019m listening to this guy.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing) Where do you drive a cab?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Island Park.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Island Park. And what do the ladies do when you refuse to turn the radio off?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, first she said would I please turn it down and I said no. “Could you turn the channel?” I said no. “I don\u2019t like this guy.” I said, “Well, this is America. I\u2019m gonna listen to what I want.” And they all hate you, Rush, they all hate you. And when I ask \u2019em, give me one example why they hate you, they can\u2019t give me one example. And if they do give me anything, it\u2019s like, “Oh, he\u2019s a big mouth.” I didn\u2019t ask you for that, just give me one example. But they\u2019re just close minded, Rush, that\u2019s all it is.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s true, but it\u2019s also the fact that they\u2019ve never listened, so all they know is what the public media image of me is. And I don\u2019t have a PR firm out there countering this stuff \u2019cause frankly I don\u2019t care. I care about all of you in the audience. And I hear stories like this, it warms my heart, makes my day because you\u2019re probably passing up tips. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Eh, it doesn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is costing you money. Speaking of which, do you have an iPad?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, Rush, I don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you want one?<\/p>\n

CALLER: That would be great.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right. We\u2019re gonna send you an iPad. And I\u2019m gonna send you a couple cases of Two If By Tea.<\/a><\/p>\n

CALLER: Ahhh, you\u2019re the man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I can\u2019t believe how many tips this guy has probably foregone because you have stuck to your guns and been loyal with that radio on in the cab.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And another thing, Rush, I was married August 1st, and she comes in second to you, too. (laughing) <\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: (laughing) Did she know that going in?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I married her before you. But, you know, you —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, okay. She\u2019s probably happy by this time. Now, look, Mike, do not hang up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n
