RUSH: Robert, Phoenix. Nice to have you and welcome, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Regarding this notion that the rich don\u2019t pay their fair share in taxes?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The rich pay the most. I\u2019m middle class; I feel I pay a lot. What\u2019s unfair to me is that you, we pay the most and don\u2019t use any government services, for the most part.<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Oh. Now, wait a second. That would make what\u2019s her name, Elizabeth Warren <\/a>— (laughing) I hope she\u2019s listening!<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Ho-ho-ho. She thinks that you use more public services than anybody else and you don\u2019t favor it and you\u2019re not sharing all the riches that you get as a result of using all the stuff that she and her poor people are paying for.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I take it further. I propose raising taxes on the poor. Stop paying zero for all they receive. Accept the burden they placed on all of us. I don\u2019t use any of these services.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, what kind of services do you mean? Let me see if this holds up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I know Social Security isn\u2019t federal income tax, but I pay a lot in Medicare, Social Security. I probably not going to ever use it because when it\u2019s time for me to use it — I\u2019m 38 years old — it\u2019s not gonna be there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, you think, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Roads and police and fire come from the state. That\u2019s about the extent of I could think I use. After that I don\u2019t collect unemployment, food stamps. I\u2019m trying to think of some other things but just —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, I guess where you\u2019re going. You\u2019re not part of the entitlement society.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I pay for it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But you\u2019re paying for it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: If you go into a store and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — you\u2019re a rich person and you walk into a store and there\u2019s a poor person and you\u2019re told you gotta buy all of his stuff you get nothing and then leave the store when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. I see what you mean. I see what you mean. I thought you were gonna go a different direction. I thought you were gonna say you don\u2019t use the roads as much as the poor people or you don\u2019t use the public swimming pool.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I do have a couple cars and I do use the roads.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, but you pay for that, too.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Through my state.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You pay for the gasoline taxes; you\u2019re no doubt paying for it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: My Arizona license plate taxes are through the roof. They\u2019re ridiculous in this state but I do pay for that and I do use that, but federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare I don\u2019t use for what I pay in taxes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I got it. You know, you\u2019re paying far more than your fair share based on what you\u2019re taking out, based on what you\u2019re getting back. I just want to warn you here, Robert: The libs monitor this show all the time and they\u2019re just lurking out there for people like you to go to bat against on their own blogs, and they\u2019ll come up with all these hidden things. Don\u2019t waste your time trying to find them; I\u2019m just telling you what\u2019s gonna happen. They\u2019ll come up with all these hidden uses of wonderful government services you\u2019re not even aware of to try to show how greedy and selfish you are, how unthinking — and the point will be to show how you wouldn\u2019t have 90% of what you have if it weren\u2019t for government paving the road for you, lighting the street night for you so you get home safe, having the cops so you don\u2019t get mauled by somebody. This is the way they think. But when you put it in the context you\u2019re talking about you do not participate in the entitlement society.
