CALLER: Well, thank you, Rush. I just want to thank you. It\u2019s an honor to speak with you. I\u2019m a longtime listener probably about eight years.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Thank you very much, sir. I appreciate that. I really do.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I just want to thank you for all your continued support of the military. It\u2019s really reassuring. I\u2019m an infantryman, US Army, and you\u2019ve just been there by our side the entire time, so thank you.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You are more than welcome. We here love the US military and we are very upset at what\u2019s happening to it right now with all of these budget cuts and all these fingers of blame being pointed. Are you still gonna have a job by the time Obama gets through, Tyler?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I hope so. (chuckles) You know, I signed my contract, I hope they hold up their end of the deal there. I\u2019m not the only one who\u2019s a little worried, but I hope they do.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I know. Well, it\u2019s like I said earlier: Every day we get up, we hear Obama talk about how sacred and sacrosanct police officers are — and any time local government is faced with budget cuts, what happens? The officials in the local government come out and say, “Well, we\u2019ll have to cut the cops! We\u2019ll have to cut firemen and teachers,” and the townsfolk shriek, “Oh, no, no, no! Please don\u2019t cut our firemen! Oh, no, don\u2019t cut our cops! We can\u2019t be beholden to criminals, oh, please!” “Okay, fine. Then we can\u2019t cut the budget.” “Okay! If it means cutting cops, then we can\u2019t cut the budget. Fine, don\u2019t cut the budget. We\u2019ll pay hire taxes.” “Okay, cool.”<\/p>\n
Well, when it comes time to cutting the federal budget the first thing liberal Democrats do is, “We gotta cut defense! We gotta get rid of the soldiers.” What\u2019s the difference? What is the difference? Why is Obama so hell-bent on holding onto police officers and so hell-bent on getting rid of soldiers? Don\u2019t they do the same thing, to one degree or another? Aren\u2019t they charged with the same responsibilities: Defending and protecting and guarding against crime, aggression, what have you? Yet liberal Democrats will throw soldiers overboard with the blink of an eye and cut their budget in the blink of an eye. When it comes to policemen and firemen and teachers? “Oh, no, we can\u2019t do that,” and the townsfolk say, “Oh, no! We can\u2019t do that.” Mitt Romney never laid off half a million people at Bain Capital. How come there\u2019s no outrage at Obama laying off all these military people? You want to talk about the electability of these Republicans? How about the unelectability of Barack Obama? Anyway, I appreciate the call, Tyler.
