Up first, Jansing and Company. This is this morning on PMSNBC. She had on Karen Hunter, who is a Simon & Schuster publisher, and New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. And they\u2019re talking about the Republican primary and Santorum. And Chris Jansing said, “You heard what Rick Santorum said about the money, which is that this was a one-on-one contest. Not a lot of super PAC dollars, not a lot of advertising. And I won, he said. What do you think of that?”<\/p>\n

HUNTER: Mitt Romney <\/a>does not resonate with that base, and it doesn\u2019t matter… He can change his underwear, it\u2019s not going to matter because they don\u2019t like him. Last week the conservative base, which is really Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, went on an assault of Mitt Romney on the airwaves. And I think that this is a result of that. (smacking hands) Every day they talked about how he\u2019s not a real conservative. And that\u2019s really what this race is about right now.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: There you have it. So I, your host, El Rushbo — not only am I responsible for Santorum coming up, but — I\u2019m responsible for the fact that the base doesn\u2019t like Romney. Now, I could sit here and accept the accolades, and you would totally understand and agree. I could sit here and say, “Yep, I am that powerful,” but I don\u2019t do that. ‘Cause I\u2019m offended by this in a sense that I think it portrays you as a bunch of mindless robots, and that\u2019s the real message of this. They\u2019re trying to say that you people don\u2019t have the ability to make up your own minds, that you\u2019re simply a bunch of mice and I\u2019m the Pied Piper. And whatever I tell you to do and think, you do. And when I tell you not to like Romney, you — you\u2019re not gonna like Romney. When I tell you Santorum\u2019s a great conservative, you\u2019re not gonna know that unless I tell you.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m telling you, I resent it. It\u2019s funny, don\u2019t misunderstand. I mean, I\u2019m not losing sleep over it, but I think that it\u2019s ridiculous. But it\u2019s instructive of how they continue to look at you, the average Republican or conservative voter.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This is WJBK-TV Fox Eyeball News Detroit, and the correspondent is Kam Carman talking about Santorum\u2019s wins last night.<\/p>\n

CARMAN: Santorum won Minnesota and Missouri. It appears the endorsement from radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh gave him a big boost. Since then his fundraising has skyrocketed.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m asking myself the same thing. When did I endorse Santorum? Yeah, I endorsed and didn\u2019t tell you. How about that. You\u2019ve been begging me to endorse somebody and I did it on the sly and I didn\u2019t even know it. I haven\u2019t endorsed Santorum. I\u2019ve just said some things about him as a conservative. Anyway, there was a story yesterday, his fundraising is up by a factor of three, and I took credit for that. So that made the news now, as a narrative that Santorum\u2019s fundraising is up because of me.
