CALLER: Hey, Mr. Limbaugh! I\u2019m gonna tell you what a big fan I am by telling you that I\u2019m wishing you liberal, left-wing, bleeding heart, knee-jerk, yellow dog Democrat dittos.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well-l-l. (chuckling) Well-l-l-l-l-l! Great to have you on the program, Holly.<\/p>\n
CALLER: (giggles) I\u2019m calling to say that I really hope the Republican Party goes ahead and makes sure they nominate a true conservative, because I remember in 2008 — at the end of 2008 — you were saying, “I am done carrying the water for the Republican Party.”<\/p>\n
RUSH: No, that was in 2006.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Okay. Well, I\u2019m sorry if I have the timing wrong. But I was like, “Good for Rush!” My memory is it\u2019s 2008. I\u2019m sorry, I may have to argue with you. But I was like, “Good for Rush, \u2019cause that\u2019s right. If you truly believe in the conservative cause then you\u2019ve got to nominate a conservative leader to be the head of your party,” and it doesn\u2019t matter one way or the other to me because I\u2019m very confident that President Obama\u2019s gonna get reelected.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, you\u2019re very concerned about us in that regard. You really care.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m not that concerned.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Holly, you really care about us. You\u2019re warming my heart here.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I was afraid you\u2019d think you would be suspicious of it, but it honestly is from… I think it would be for the best if Republicans —<\/p>\n
RUSH: What is there to be suspicious about? You want conservatives to lose, and you want \u2019em to lose as —<\/p>\n
CALLER: No, no.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You want \u2019em to lose as conservatives, right?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Republicans are going to lose, but I\u2019m saying, “How do they want to go down? Do they want to go down with another establishment candidate like McCain, or do they want to go down with a conservative?”<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well —<\/p>\n
CALLER: ‘Cause you\u2019re going —<\/p>\n
RUSH: No, no. No, wait, that\u2019s not the question. The question is: How do you want them to go down?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Oh, well, I just want them to go down, and that\u2019s what\u2019s gonna happen.<\/p>\n
RUSH: But then why do you care?<\/p>\n
CALLER: So either way.<\/p>\n
RUSH: No, no, no, no. Why do you care whether they go dawn with a faux conservative or a real one?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, I do believe in the two-party system and I do believe that it helps to have people who have differing views bringing different —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, give me a break! You no more believe that than you believe that the Man in the Moon impregnated Rick Santorum\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n
CALLER: (giggling) No, I hadn\u2019t heard that one. And no, I don\u2019t believe that one.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Let me ask you a question. Holly, you\u2019re a great liberal. I need to ask you something.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n
RUSH: There\u2019s something I\u2019ve been hearing, and I need to confirm it with you. Literally. It\u2019s not a trick. It\u2019s not a joke. I have been hearing that one of the reason that women don\u2019t like Santorum is he\u2019s got too many kids; and as old as and he his wife are, they have an infant, and that\u2019s just oppressive. There\u2019s no woman alive that wants to have seven kids, much less seven kids when they\u2019re that couple\u2019s age. Do you think that or have you heard other people be critical of Santorum for that?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No, I haven\u2019t. But I will say this, that when I was talking to all of my friends about the whole contraception contretemps, one of the things we talk about is we don\u2019t know anybody who\u2019s got five and six kids. Every person I know, every woman I know has been on birth control at at least some point in her life.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Do you know anybody —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Every person I know doesn\u2019t have more than three kids. That\u2019s the most of the anybody I know has is three.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So you do know women who have three kids then?<\/p>\n
CALLER: (laughing) Yes. My mother\u2019s one of them.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, yeah, but that would be automatic. I meant in your circle of friends.<\/p>\n
CALLER: How many?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah. Do you all keep track of…? Well, no. I\u2019m not gonna ask that.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, you know, I go to work. I have, you know, women I work with. I have women that I went to school with. I have women that live in my neighbor neighborhood.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I have women that go to my church. I just, you know… I can\u2019t really compute it.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Wait, wait, wait. What church do you go to? It\u2019s none of my business. I\u2019m just shocked. I don\u2019t know how to deal with it.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I… I… Personally, I don\u2019t appreciate that. I know that I\u2019m a good Christian and that I have a great faith in God controlling the things that go on in the world.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I know you love Obama, but that\u2019s a given.<\/p>\n
CALLER: And I have confidence that if God loves this country, which I know He does, He will make sure that it doesn\u2019t fall.<\/p>\n
RUSH: That\u2019s where you and I differ. I\u2019m not sure God does love the country.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Oh, I know He does. Yeah, we can\u2019t be this great a blessed country without His blessings.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I just don\u2019t see Obama that way.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I know you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
RUSH: There is a great divide between us on this.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I do. I see that. And can I tell you one thing I love about you is you\u2019re willing to let somebody like me come on and say my opinions. You know, other people who want to be Rush are really bad about like not at all letting liberal voices on the radio shows with them.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, I appreciate that. We put them up first in line when we get them.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Oh, I know. I even said, “I\u2019m a liberal on a cell phone.” I know that means I go to the front of the line. I\u2019m a fan! I\u2019m a huge fan.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I get a kick talking to you. I think you represent the challenge of possibility. You\u2019re at least… You\u2019re listening every day.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So you represent future growth in —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Uh, yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: — what I happen to believe in.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Not into conservatism, but definitely, as far as politics.<\/p>\n
RUSH: It sneaks up on you, Holly. One day you\u2019re gonna be, and you won\u2019t even know how it happened. It\u2019ll just happen one day. That\u2019s the risk you take. It\u2019s the risk you run listening to me every day. It will happen.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Well, the only reason why I\u2019m positive it won\u2019t is, again, I have a 90-year-old month who\u2019s a raving liberal. So if she\u2019s not turned conservative, I have every confidence I won\u2019t either.<\/p>\n
