CALLER: Yeah. I\u2019m just so upset through this whole thing because for my first time in my whole life that I\u2019ve been so embarrassed and disappointed in America. I\u2019m just so sick and tired of the double standard in society that these liberals can call Sarah Palin a slut and a whore and totally get away with it, and if any conservative with the values that you have, you have to demand apology, and everything breaks loose.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Amie, let me just tell you, the double standard has always existed, and it always will. That is not going to change. Everybody needs to understand it\u2019s bleating against the wind to point out or be perceived as whining, not that you are —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n
RUSH: — the double standard, it\u2019s just the way of the world, as it exists in this country right now.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Exactly. ‘Cause I\u2019m a business owner, a homeschooler, and a mother of two beautiful kids, and, you know, I\u2019m just so upset about what\u2019s going on in America today.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So am I. We\u2019re losing the country.<\/p>\n
CALLER: You absolutely told the truth.<\/p>\n
RUSH: This infuriates me, what is happening. It outrages me. It scares me. It insults me. We\u2019re losing the country, and what is frustrating to me is that so many people don\u2019t see it, and those who do are not willing to do anything about it. Everybody\u2019s scared. Everybody\u2019s frightened of what\u2019s gonna happen to them. Everybody\u2019s afraid of the Democrat Party. That\u2019s where the fear in this country is. Everybody\u2019s afraid of the government. They\u2019re afraid of to speak out —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Absolutely.<\/p>\n
RUSH: — and afraid to do anything about it. It\u2019s the past of lease resistance for them. But in the meantime, this whole notion that society owes anybody what they want, if they can say they\u2019re discriminated against for some reason, when it gets to the point that we are providing the means and the finances, the resources for social activities, whatever it is, it\u2019s scary to me, it is really —<\/p>\n
CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n
RUSH: — really frightening.<\/p>\n
CALLER: ‘Cause my husband, we are busting our tails off to afford food to put on our table, and we have a strict budget. I can\u2019t even afford to take my kids to McDonalds, to a restaurant, or even extra toys for my kids. And when I have to tell my kids they\u2019re so disappointed, their eyes, “Oh, gosh, mom, we understand,” and my kid had 50 cents, and he gives it to me because, “I know we\u2019re hurting, mom.” And it just breaks my heart when I have to say that to them. It\u2019s hard.<\/p>\n
RUSH: This is all part of the culture deteriorating, because fewer and fewer people and fewer and fewer businesses and fewer and fewer institutions actually have a moral core, or they\u2019re not willing to stand up for their moral core. And you talk about the double standard, one of the greatest illustrations of it is that rappers can practically say anything they want about women, and it\u2019s called art. And they win awards for it. I don\u2019t know about you, I have some television shows that I like, and I TiVo \u2019em, and the P-word that stands for urinate is common now. Or when you\u2019re ticked off, you are p–. It\u2019s common. The word bitch is common. In sitcoms, in television dramas.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m so naive in my hopefulness. For 23 years I\u2019ve been doing this on this stage, four years prior to that in Sacramento. Actually 27 years I\u2019ve been doing this, and every year it\u2019s easy to see the cultural decline taking place, the rot right in front of our eyes, and for all of these years I\u2019ve said to myself, “Okay, at some point it\u2019s gonna bottom out. People are gonna have had enough of it, and it\u2019s gonna end.” And it never does. It\u2019s nowhere near bottoming out, and there\u2019s nowhere near people standing up say, “Hey, enough of it.” It\u2019s getting worse, and it\u2019s going to continue to get worse.<\/p>\n
You know, Andrew Breitbart is being lionized in his death, and he is being heralded in his death. One of the things that the Breitbart empire was focused on was pop culture. Breitbart grew up in West Los Angeles. He was surrounded by the epitome of wacko leftism today. He grew up and was part of that. He eventually, for a lot of reasons, had an awakening and escaped it. And one of the reasons he put together his big empire, Big Journalism, Breitbart TV, Big this, all those different websites, one of the things that Andrew Breitbart was trying to do was to have conservatism make an impact in the pop culture.<\/p>\n

He believed that the combination of the pop culture and the media were the source of all of the destruction and the deterioration of things in this country. That the media had long ago abandoned their constitutional requirement. That they were now part of the leftist agenda, openly and upfront, honestly, not even any pretenses to being objective or holding the powerful accountable, long ago given that up. And the pop culture is made up of people, I\u2019m talking about the audience, who don\u2019t know 90% of the substantive things going on in this country that will someday take from them their freedom. They look at it as gaining stuff, to the extent that they even care. And those are the two areas that he was primarily interested in, and they\u2019re both extremely important. And that\u2019s all part of the fact that there is a double standard. But forget the double standard ever going away. It never will.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am so honored to speak with you. My husband said don\u2019t be nervous, and I can\u2019t be. I\u2019m just so honored. I listen to you all the time. I just wanted to let you know that I went up to bat for you this weekend on Facebook with a niece who posted for people to stop their support of you and all this. I\u2019ve sat back all these years and watched her post all her liberal things, and I never say a word \u2019cause I don\u2019t want to ruffle feathers. And I\u2019m just so tired of having to sit back and not say what I believe. So I did, and I told her that it was wrong, that we should not have to pay for these people. There\u2019s such a thing as self-control and supporting yourself, but we\u2019re becoming such… We\u2019re not the “land of the free.” They want it to be the land of the “free-for-all.” And I\u2019m just really upset with that. Their double standards are obvious in the response from her friends that posted on here. The one girl is saying that birth control “isn\u2019t just for college skanks.” Now, what is the difference between a college “skank” and a “slut”? I don\u2019t understand. Is there a difference?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, they can say what they want. This is the thing, and it\u2019s never going to change: They can say that. They can say what they can describe themselves that way and they can describe others that way. They can do it. That\u2019s the double standard. There doesn\u2019t have to be a difference. At all.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I appreciate it. Well, you\u2019ve already articulated well about the inconsistency and double standards for the media. It\u2019s just when I\u2019m listening or watching TV now, I really think that Jon Daily [sic] has a sharp mind and a very articulate man, but the last time, and it will be the last time I ever watching him, was when they had a clip of Sarah Palin on and he was pantomiming cunnilingus, and I lost all track of any rationality he was having at the time. So I just want to encourage you on your articulate ability to share with us the truth and the inconsistencies there, but I also want to say that that doesn\u2019t mean because it\u2019s inconsistent and because it\u2019s a double standard that we couldn\u2019t keep pointing it out.<\/p>\n
RUSH: No. Obviously we\u2019ll keep pointing it out. It might, at some point, the fact that it exists in and of itself have impact — he means Jon Stewart, by the way, not John Daily, of The Daily Show. You gotta understand what happens there. When something potentially controversial happens on that show, “Well, wait a minute, we\u2019re a comedy show, back off.” And then, on the other hand, when it is said that The Daily Show is the primary source of news and information for the college student crowd, then it\u2019s a news show. So they get to go back and forth on that show, as to whether they\u2019re entertainment. “Hey, back off, hey, lighten up, you know, we\u2019re just a bunch of satireists here. We\u2019re just telling jokes,” and so forth. They have the ability to go back and forth between the two genres. I do not ever pull that. I\u2019m described alternately by the left as an entertainer or sometimes as the titular head of the Republican Party, whichever fits whatever they\u2019re attempting to accomplish that particular day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
