RUSH: I am here to tell you nobody has got this November election right. Everybody\u2019s looking at it through the Obama-can\u2019t-lose prism, and the prism you need to look at this through is Obama could very easily lose this election, and nobody knows it better than him. He\u2019s not gonna have a billion dollars. He\u2019s told Pelosi and Reid, (paraphrasing) “I\u2019m not giving you any money. I\u2019m not even gonna fundraise for you. I\u2019m gonna do one event for the House, one event for the Senate, and that\u2019s it.” He\u2019s not gonna fundraise, which they\u2019re probably happy about. He\u2019s not gonna be on the campaign trail for \u2019em. I guarantee, they\u2019re gonna be happy about that. I don\u2019t believe these polls that show Obama 50% approval. It\u2019s a trumped-up 800 respondent poll of adults, not even likely voters. <\/p>\n
So don\u2019t tell me that Joe the Plumber doesn\u2019t have a chance. All this talk about the Democrats taking back the House. Ha! I\u2019m not saying it can\u2019t happen. Folks, it\u2019s not written in stone. It\u2019s not what\u2019s likely. It\u2019s not a given. None of the conventional wisdom is a given. Obama\u2019s reelection is not a given. They want you to think it is. You are assisted in that thinking when you look at the Republican field, and you don\u2019t feel inspired. But you have to understand, this election is going to be about Obama. And even if the unemployment rate — I shouldn\u2019t say “if.” When they report the unemployment rate at 7.9%, it\u2019s still gonna be an election about Obama, because that isn\u2019t going to be true. And when they report 250, 300,000 new jobs, that isn\u2019t gonna be true. And even if it is, it\u2019s still gonna take close to 600,000 jobs a month for a long time to get us back down to 6%.
