CALLER: Hello, Rush. It\u2019s a pleasure. I\u2019m a big fan.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n
CALLER: My story\u2019s a little interesting. My job was actually exported to Mexico. I work in the offshore oil industry, and I\u2019m currently working for — you know, through certain contracts — Pemex.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, yeah? Where in Mexico is your job?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Off the Yucatan Peninsula.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, there are some resorts there.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n
CALLER: My point is that Mexico is ramping up big time to drill oil.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh, I know. You know, they had a huge find in the Gulf, didn\u2019t they? We heard about it in the last couple years. By the way, did you used to work in the domestic oil business in the Gulf of Mexico?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, I did.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So you were shut down because of the moratorium?<\/p>\n
CALLER: That\u2019s my whole point, Rush, is my job was exported from the United States to Mexico because of Obama\u2019s oil policy.<\/p>\n
RUSH: His moratorium.<\/p>\n
CALLER: After the BP spill, of course.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
CALLER: A lot of contracts for drilling that was supposed to happen did not. My company had to think out of the box and now we\u2019re down in Mexico working for a Mexican company.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What are you doing in North Carolina?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Excuse me?<\/p>\n
RUSH: What are you doing in North Carolina?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, I fly back and forth, Rush.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Okay. Well, pardon me.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I live in North Carolina but I\u2019m a captain on a vessel that is working down in Mexico.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, I didn\u2019t mean to be insulting. Really, forgive me. It\u2019s nothing more than that. Like when I worked at a radio station, it was there every day, and so I thought maybe you might be on vacation or downtime or whatever. I don\u2019t know how, for example, employees in the oil business are used. So I really meant, “If your job\u2019s in Mexico, why are you in North Carolina?” I\u2019m sure there\u2019s a reason.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well in my particular situation, I fly to work and I spent two months ago down there and I\u2019m home a month on vacation.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Oh.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Then I return.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Okay cool.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Do you remember the dredge that was working off your property down in West Palm about, I don\u2019t know, five or six years ago?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah. It\u2019s out there now. It was from New Orleans.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes. I was actually working on that vessel at the time, and I saw you by binoculars walking around your beautiful piece of property.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Is that right? Let me tell you what he\u2019s talking about. Let me tell you what he\u2019s talking about. (interruption) Now, people on the other side of the glass, Matt, are calling you a “stalker.” He\u2019s not a stalker. The Palm Beach Inlet, which separates Singer Island from Palm Beach, has to be dredged so that cargo ships, cruise ships can get into the port of Palm Beach. And you\u2019re on the dredger, right?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, I was.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Now, what the dredger does is the dredger dredge all the sand.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: It does a couple different things, but what it does is dump outlet sand that it dredges on my beach.<\/p>\n
CALLER: That\u2019s correct.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I mean, I can sit there and watch. I\u2019ll be sitting there at two in the morning and I will see the lights and it looks like it\u2019s right in the backyard. I say, “Whoa!” The first time I saw that, I said, “My God, there\u2019s a UFO out there!”<\/p>\n
CALLER: (chuckling) Right.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So you\u2019ve been on that dredger?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, I was, and I remember you were talking about it on air some years ago.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n
CALLER: And actually I was on there when you were talking about it. I had you tuned in to the radio. Yeah, you were talking about the turtles on the beach if you remember.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah, and I was hoping you were dumping sand on \u2019em. I remember.<\/p>\n
CALLER: (laughing) No, we actually had turtle observers on the boat to make sure we didn\u2019t kill any turtles.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I know. I know. Believe me, I know. Folks, he\u2019s right. They have “turtle observers” on the dredger.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, we did.<\/p>\n
RUSH: But the thing is, you\u2019re fine. The lights on the dredger on the water are fine. That would attract the hatchlings to the water, whatever happens to them there is fine as far as the environmentalist wackos are concerned. If they get eaten or crushed by your dredger, that\u2019s cool.<\/p>\n
CALLER: You probably don\u2019t know this but when we do get a turtle on board a dredge it\u2019s dead because it\u2019s come through the dredge.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I\u2019m not exactly sure what they\u2019re observing unless they want to see a dead turtle.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, what they\u2019re observing is the hatchlings. See, the hatchlings are born underneath the sand. They hatch out of the eggs underneath the sand and they burrow up, and they\u2019re supposed to go to the ocean. Now, folks, you\u2019ve hit a sore spot here, Matt, I just want to tell you. The last thing that they want is for the turtle hatchlings to head to the shore.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So we have to keep our lights off. But you on the dredger, your lights are on. That\u2019s fine.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Lit up like a Christmas tree.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Exactly. They\u2019re multicolored, he\u2019s exactly right. If the hatchlings see light out over the ocean and they\u2019re attracted, then that\u2019s fine, the environmentalists are out there applauding, that\u2019s nature. If your dredger happens to suck \u2019em up and they end up being dredged, that\u2019s cool. <\/p>\n
CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n
RUSH: But if they go toward the shore, then they want to make all of us who live on the beach criminals.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Hey, Rush, can I get back to my point?<\/p>\n
RUSH: I thought this was the point. But go ahead.<\/p>\n
CALLER: No, no, no. I want to talk about Pemex which is the Mexican national organization.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Sure. Fine. Fire away.<\/p>\n
CALLER: It\u2019s socialist organization. Anyway, they are ramping up big time, and they are going to eclipse us in oil production if we don\u2019t get our act together soon.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What do you mean they\u2019re a socialist — you mean they\u2019re just government-run?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yeah. Isn\u2019t that socialist?<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yeah. They\u2019re gonna eclipse — but you\u2019re not advocating socialism?<\/p>\n
CALLER: No. No. Not at all. I\u2019m saying is if we don\u2019t ramp up our oil industry —<\/p>\n
RUSH: And why do you think we\u2019re not, Matt?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, Rush, I understand what you\u2019re saying. But —<\/p>\n
