RUSH: Snerdley just asked me an interesting question, and I want to pose the question to you in my own words. After 39 weeks of unemployment over 8%, after an unemployment rate that\u2019s been higher for longer than any since the Great Depression — with only 115,000 jobs added — even if you are Barack Obama, don\u2019t you care a little about your legacy? Don\u2019t you want some improvement somewhere in real life, not just a rate drop from 8.2% to 8.1%? Don\u2019t you want something that\u2019s gonna add to your legacy, make you look good to the historians? <\/p>\n

Now, what is the flaw in Snerdley\u2019s question? <\/line><\/p>\n

The flaw in Snerdley\u2019s question is the premise. <\/p>\n

To understand Barack Obama, you have to admit something, and it\u2019s a very difficult thing to do. Not for me, \u2019cause I know. But it\u2019s a very difficult thing for most people to admit, even though he said so in his own words (almost exactly the words I\u2019m gonna use to you) that we\u2019ve elected a president who doesn\u2019t believe this country has ever worked. It\u2019s been a fraud. All these great presidential legacies from the founding up until him are based on fluff and fraud. We have unjust foundings based on immorality and plundering the world for our own benefit. <\/p>\n

He doesn\u2019t believe this country\u2019s been legitimately great. It\u2019s been illegitimately great, and he is out to transform it. Watch the Julia slideshow<\/a>. You\u2019ll see what the ideal citizen is to Barack Obama. It\u2019s a citizen dependent totally on government who has no independent thought, no independent life. Whatever is needed, there\u2019s something in Washington where you can go to get it. You don\u2019t have to do it yourself. You don\u2019t have to do anything yourself. The flaw in the question is that Barack Obama is cut from the same mold as previous presidents. <\/p>\n

He isn\u2019t. His job is to transform this nation into what it should have always been if it were a just, equitable, fair nation with a focus on human rights and social justice, which this nation has never cared about. It\u2019s never been focused on that in his mind, and in the minds of everybody in his administration, and probably eight-out-of-ten college professors. So… (interruption) Well, publicly, he\u2019ll go through the motions. He knows he can\u2019t come to a microphone or camera and say, “Enjoy it while it lasts, because if I get reelected, this day is the closest it\u2019s ever gonna be to the way you remember this country being.”<\/p>\n

If he said that, he\u2019s toast. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s got to make you think he cares about his legacy in traditional terms. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s got to make you think he cares about legitimate job creation. <\/p>\n

But what\u2019s happening is on schedule and according to plan. This guy, Al Armendariz, from the EPA who wanted to “crucify” Big Oil <\/a>and gas companies? A lot of people said, “Gee, how did a kook wacko like that get into the administration?” He\u2019s not a kook. He\u2019s mainstream. He may as well have been handpicked by Obama. They\u2019re all through the EPA, just like that guy, and all through the administration. I know it\u2019s tough to get your arms around. But 88 million people out of work — still eating, still driving, still using their cell phones — that\u2019s ideal. Who\u2019s taking care of \u2019em and who are they gonna vote for? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Mega dittos, Rush. I\u2019ll tell you how far back I go. Back in the late eighties, I was working at a liberal bookstore as a receiving clerk (chuckles) and that\u2019s where I got my start in the book industry, and that\u2019s basically what I\u2019m calling about. I\u2019m one of the 11% of unemployment that, frankly, is unemployable because I went out and created my own job after deciding that this whole unemployment thing just doesn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: I\u2019ve been in the book industry my entire adult life, and know some ins and outs and where things can be bought and then sold for a profit. And I decided, “You know what? I\u2019m gonna scrape together the thousand bucks that I\u2019ve got sitting in an envelope and invest it.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Here, again, you are coming at me today from the same place in history that Snerdley is — and I admire you for it, by the way. I just don\u2019t know how many of you there are out there. You\u2019re sitting there saying, “Hey, wait a minute! We\u2019ve got a bad economy?” Look, I\u2019ve always had a theory that I\u2019ve espoused on this program: “Oh, they\u2019re gonna have a recession? Fine, I\u2019m not participating.” And I don\u2019t participate in recessions. What this guy, what Brad\u2019s saying is, “Well, if it\u2019s so bad, stop complaining and start your own business. Get your own job.” <\/p>\n

Amen! (clap, clap)<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s what used to happen, and it still is, but I don\u2019t know how often. <\/p>\n

Like, Brad, I don\u2019t know how many of the 88 million unemployed are even complaining anymore. Certainly some of them are. Not all 88 million want to be in the welfare hammock, but some of them are happy to be taken care of without work, with the government taking care of as much as possible and they\u2019ll fend for themselves on the margins. It\u2019s a different country, but that\u2019s what this show is all about today and every day. It\u2019s about trying to change that, light fires under people, particularly on Election Day. Get this country back, save the country, or what have you. <\/p>\n

We want to end up with more people looking like you than are right now. <\/p>\n
