RUSH: This is Joe Biden, and this was yesterday on Meet the Depressed on NBC. David Gregory talking to the vice president during a discussion about gay marriage. Now, why did this come up? Why…? (interruption) Well, I know.<\/p>\n

Look! There\u2019s the picture. There\u2019s the picture. Nobody in the upper deck on Sunday. It\u2019s on Fox right now. That\u2019s the picture taken by Romney\u2019s campaign guy at Obama\u2019s coming-out party on Saturday at Ohio State. There\u2019s nobody in the upper deck. And we had a caller from there saying that students were going door-to-door all week trying to get students to show up at Obama\u2019s event, and they were saying, “It\u2019s not political. It\u2019s just the president showing up.”<\/a> Folks, I have to tell you something. Obama has written off “white working-class voters.” They\u2019ve done this. It\u2019s not arguable. Don\u2019t doubt me. <\/p>\n

They\u2019ve made a decision to write \u2019em off. Basically minorities, people on welfare, and college kids, that\u2019s where Obama\u2019s going to get reelected. And they couldn\u2019t fill an arena at Ohio State University with The One arriving, and they thought it would fill up. They\u2019re going back and they\u2019re trying to relive 2008. One of the problems with college kids is Obama was a fad. Now that\u2019s not hip anymore, not cool. We\u2019ve been there, done that. We did that four years ago. <\/line><\/p>\n

Plus now, in the four years since Obama was gonna unite everybody and bring about all this utopian stuff, all these college students are graduating, and they don\u2019t have jobs. And it\u2019s a tough sell to get them to blame George W. Bush. George W. Bush hasn\u2019t been part of their life for four years. What\u2019s Bush got to do with it? They invested everything in Obama. You know, celebrity lists are strictly media lists. In list\/out list. Who\u2019s in\/who\u2019s out. Who\u2019s high\/who\u2019s low. These fad things. <\/p>\n

Obama\u2019s on the “out” lists now with people who follow the celebrity culture. I make both, so I\u2019m never out of it. I\u2019m always on the “in” list or an “out” list somewhere, and it\u2019s always been the case. But Obama is on the “out” list. It\u2019s a fad. It\u2019s “been there, done that,” with these college kids. They made an absolute, all-out effort knocking on doors<\/a>, “Hey, the president\u2019s coming Saturday! Why don\u2019t you come? It\u2019s not gonna be political. He\u2019s just gonna show up,” and that couldn\u2019t even get \u2019em out. It was totally empty in the upper level.<\/p>\n

Anyway, Biden was talking about gay marriage. Now, I know the pro-gay marriage forces are really leaning on Obama here, but this is an issue they\u2019d really — I don\u2019t know — prefer probably not to deal with. Anyway, Gregory asks Biden this. He says, “The president has said that his views on gay marriage, same-sex marriage, have ‘evolved\u2019 but he\u2019s opposed to it. You\u2019re opposed to gay marriage, same-sex marriage, Mr. Vice President. Have your views evolved?”<\/p>\n

BIDEN: (whispering) What this is all about is a simple proposition: “Who … do … you … love? Who do you love, and will you be loyal to the person you love?” And that\u2019s what people are finding out is what — what all marriages at their root are about, whether they\u2019re marriages of lesbians or gay men or heterosexuals.<\/p>\n

GREGORY: Is that what you believe now?<\/p>\n

BIDEN: That\u2019s what I believe.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So the vice president has come out for gay marriage. The media is going nuts with this news today. Let\u2019s play the next sound bite here, because Gregory said, “Well, are you comfortable with same-sex marriage now? Is that right?”<\/p>\n

BIDEN: I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marry men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.<\/p>\n

GREGORY: In a second term, will this administration come out behind same-sex marriage, the institution of marriage?<\/p>\n

BIDEN: Well, I — I — I can\u2019t speak to that. Uh, I — I — I — I — I — I don\u2019t know the answer to that. I take a look at when things began to change. Those are social culture changes. I think “Will & Grace” probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody\u2019s ever done so far.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, wow. Okay.<\/p>\n

BIDEN: And I think people fear that which is different. Now they\u2019re beginning to understand.<\/p>\n
