<\/p>\nRUSH: Now to the audio sound bites. Fox News, Gretchen Carlson. I\u2019m not sure about this. They had Romney on. Yesterday on this program, I said that as far as I\u2019m concerned, Obama\u2019s the first president running for reelection against capitalism. So they had Romney on today, and they asked him about that. Now, if I were in cable news, I ask this question hoping that Romney disagrees with Rush Limbaugh. If Romney disagrees with Rush Limbaugh, then I\u2019ve got a story! I\u2019ve got a story. I\u2019ve got the Republican presidential nominee, presumptive nominee, disagreeing with Limbaugh.<\/p>\n
And I\u2019ve got news.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m gonna have this clip played all day long on all the other cable channels. Now, that could be wrong. They\u2019re our friends at Fox & Friends, don\u2019t misunderstand, but business is business. Gretchen Carlson said, “Would you go as far as Rush Limbaugh did yesterday…” That\u2019s why I thought: Okay, she kinda wouldn\u2019t be disappointed here if Romney “wouldn\u2019t go as far” as I did, right? “Would you go as far as Rush Limbaugh did yesterday, saying that this is the first president modern times who is going to run a campaign against capitalism?”<\/p>\n

ROMNEY: Well, it certainly sounds like that\u2019s what he\u2019s doing. There\u2019s no question but that he\u2019s attacking capitalism, in part I think because he doesn\u2019t understand how the free economy works. He\u2019s never had a job in the free economy. Neither has Vice President Biden. They spent their lives as either community organizers or as members of the political class. And the American people understand that the free economy and free enterprise is tough; it\u2019s hard work. And when they hear that a business like Bain Capital was successful 80% of the time and 5% of its investments only went bankrupt, they say, “You know, that\u2019s a pretty good record,” and if all the president wants to do is talk about the failures, why, he\u2019s misrepresenting the nature of free enterprise.<\/p>\n
RUSH: So Romney takes that and runs with it! It was nice. It was a great answer, and he accepts the premise that Obama is running against capitalism. It was a nice setup, and he took it. What we\u2019ve done here is we put together a montage of Obama\u2019s history of attacking capitalism, from September of 2008 all the way through the present day.<\/p>\n
OBAMA (montage): I did not run for office to be helping out a bunch of fat cat bankers on Wall Street. You can\u2019t get corporate jets. You can\u2019t go take a trip to Las Vegas. I do think at a certain point you\u2019ve made enough money. If somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It will bankrupt them. The insurance industry is making this last-ditch effort to stop reform even as costs continue to rise and our health care dollars continue to be poured into their profits. Cost-cutting has become embedded in their operations and in their culture. That may result in good profits, but it\u2019s not translating into hiring. Speculators can reap millions while millions of American families get the short end of the stick. If that same diabetic ends up getting their foot amputated, that\u2019s 30,000, 40, $50,000 immediately the surgeon is reimbursed. The market will take care of everything. Here\u2019s the problem. It doesn\u2019t work. It has never worked. White folks\u2019 greed runs a world in need. In this country, broad-based prosperity has never trickled down from the success of a wealthy few.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Those are just some examples that we found off the top of our heads. Just the last two weeks alone Obama\u2019s been on a tear about capitalism. But he started with his speech in Osawatomie, Kansas, this year. Capitalism doesn\u2019t work. America doesn\u2019t work; it has never worked. (interruption) Why play it again? There\u2019s so much in there? Okay, we\u2019ll play it again. Snerdley wants to hear it again. Here it is again. It\u2019s about 58 seconds. It\u2019s about a minute. And this is a series of statements from Obama which individually and cumulatively all add up to a guy who is unquestioningly anti-capitalist, and now he\u2019s running for reelection on that basis, running against capitalism. Now, the stuff at the end of is the most pointed and direct, but every one of these little excerpts has an anti-capitalist hatred, dislike, resentment, foundation, whatever you want to call it. <\/p>\n
