RUSH: Thank you very much.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, sir. When you first started talking about the Obama administration\u2019s leaks on military issues, it reminded me back when Carter debated former President Reagan in 1980 and he revealed information about the technology the defense department had developed, later to be known as stealth technology. And it reminded me a lot of what Obama\u2019s doing, the two of them trying to show how strong they are on military issues. What\u2019s your feeling about that? Do you agree with that feeling, or —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Totally, if I understand you right, you\u2019re saying Obama is just trying to be John Wayne?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Exactly. Like what Carter was trying to do with Ronald Reagan when Ronald Reagan was calling him on his military positions. He said, “Well, I got stealth technology.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Here you have Democrats who are doves 364 days a year. On the day that they need to campaign to get elected they become hawks. There\u2019s no question that\u2019s what Obama is doing. The Kill List? Obama is leaking the stuff. And everybody\u2019s supposed to conclude, wow, this guy is not the wuss we thought he was. Why this guy goes for the jugular, personally picking the terrorists that are gonna die and all that. Yeah. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s fooling anybody. All it\u2019s doing is angering his buddies on the left. <\/p>\n
I got the story here that I teased, CBS AP, it\u2019s from Providence, Rhode Island, headline: “Liberals Threaten Not To Vote In November Over Disappointment With Obama — They are trying to be hopeful, but the Democratic Party\u00c2\u2019s most passionate voters are struggling to hide their frustration with President Barack Obama. Republicans attack the president as a big-government liberal. Many liberals meeting Thursday at Netroots Nation,” which Obama did not attend this year. They describe, by the way, these leftists as a giant family union for the left. They\u2019re arguing “that Obama hasn\u00c2\u2019t fought hard enough for progressive priorities on taxes, health care and the economy. Even more problematic for the president: With the election just five months away, some are threatening not to donate money or time or even vote in November for the man who overwhelmingly ignited their passions and captured their imaginations four years ago.”<\/p>\n
And I tell you, this story doesn\u2019t talk about it, but they are livid on the left at this big militaristic Obama portrayed by these leaks. This is the guy that\u2019s supposed to be shutting down Club Gitmo. This is the guy who\u2019s supposed to be making sure that terrorists are represented fairly by American lawyers in court. This is the guy who\u2019s supposed to be pulling our troops out of war zones. This is the guy who\u2019s supposed to be stopping the effort to kill terrorists. And here\u2019s Obama, you know, going out there like he\u2019s Jack LaLanne, puffing himself up, acting like he\u2019s the big tough guy. I don\u2019t think anybody\u2019s buying it. What people are focused on is the outrageousness of these leaks. <\/p>\n
Folks, I\u2019ll tell you what. We\u2019ve got sound bites from Rumsfeld and a bunch of these old warriors from the Cold War era and forward. They\u2019re men who understand the whole concept of national security, secrecy, and the need to maintain plausible deniability. Privacy. They\u2019re astounded. And I think if… I\u2019ll just tell you this: If they understood Obama like I do, they wouldn\u2019t be astounded. They would know what I know.<\/p>\n
Obama doesn\u2019t take national security that seriously.<\/p>\n
He doesn\u2019t think of us as a superpower.<\/p>\n
He thinks it\u2019s gauche and arrogant to think that way. It\u2019s braggadocios. It\u2019s insulting. We\u2019re not a superpower. “Other countries think they\u2019re exceptional, too! We\u2019re nothing special.” That\u2019s how he looks at the country. “We don\u2019t have any secrets.” In fact, the problems that we\u2019ve had, in his view, all descend from this notion that we\u2019ve thought ourselves special and that we\u2019ve had secrets and that we appoint ourselves the guardians of the world. “Who are we?” That\u2019s how Obama and his ilk have been educated and informed.<\/p>\n
“We have no business doing any of this stuff around the world. Who are we? We deserve some of this stuff.” He\u2019s kind of like Ron Paul. “We deserve some of this stuff that\u2019s happening to us!” So I don\u2019t think Obama looks at these leaks as anything damaging. Look what he told Dmitry Medvedev. He told him to tell Vladimir Putin, “Relax! Relax! I\u2019ll have more flexibility after the election.” They were talking about the United States eliminating nuclear weapons. Obama basically told Medvedev to tell Putin, “It\u2019ll all happen as soon as I get reelected when nobody can do anything to me.”<\/p>\n
Now, the caller is referring to the fact that in 1980, in the campaign, Jimmy Carter revealed that we had stealth technology. He was trying to boost his foreign policy and defense credentials. And Carter had just promised to kill the B1 Bomber. He had just promised to kill it. Democrats were all arguing back then who would be the first to get us out of this part of the world and that part of the world. And so Carter was trying to, you know, buff himself up as a last-ditch effort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
