CALLER: Mr. Limbaugh.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Listen, I\u2019ve been following the Supreme Court and what they\u2019re doing with the Arizona law. I\u2019ve spent 25 years enforcing the law on the border. And I can tell you —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait. You spent 25 years enforcing the law, that means you\u2019re a border patrol agent or former?<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m a border patrol agent, yes.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Current or former?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Current.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Current border patrol agent.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I have been eligible to retire now for a couple months ago, but I\u2019m not going, I\u2019m staying, because there\u2019s a lot of work that still needs to be done. However, what the Supreme Court just did, and I\u2019ll probably get in a lot of trouble over this, but what the Supreme Court just did, regarding the Arizona law… Title 8 of the United States Code section 1304(e), everybody go look it up, says that if you\u2019re here illegally and you\u2019re not a citizen, you have to carry proof of that with you. The law\u2019s already on the books. I don\u2019t know why everybody\u2019s up in arms that Arizona is enforcing it when the US government won\u2019t. It makes no sense. I don\u2019t know why the Supreme Court did that, but that\u2019s what the law says.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, the Supreme Court did it because the justices that voted the way they did believe in an expanding and all-powerful federal government.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Yes, sir. And that\u2019s exactly what it is. That\u2019s exactly… well, I\u2019m not gonna go there, but that\u2019s exactly what it is.<\/p>\n
RUSH: It\u2019s no more complicated than that. That\u2019s why I\u2019m shocked that Justice Roberts is on this side of it. Even though I know, I\u2019m still shocked.<\/p>\n
CALLER: That blows me away. But the law is on the books, man.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, that\u2019s the point. It was on the books but they weren\u2019t enforcing it. They weren\u2019t letting you enforce it, or local Arizona law enforcement was not allowed to enforce it. So Arizona said, “All right, we\u2019ll write our own law” that essentially mirrors the statute you just cited, And the court today told them, “You can\u2019t.”<\/p>\n
CALLER: Brother, I\u2019m on the same page with you. I believe that. I\u2019m all in favor of them doing what they\u2019re doing. It drives me crazy that the Supreme Court won\u2019t let \u2019em do it. It drives me up a tree. I have never called one of these shows before. I listen to you every day, but I\u2019ve never called. And this angered me to the point that I… Hell, I\u2019ve been dialing the phone now for 20 minutes tryin\u2019 to get through.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Well, I\u2019m glad you did.<\/p>\n
CALLER: It\u2019s on the books, man! It\u2019s Title 8 United States Code, Section 1304(e). It\u2019s on the books. It\u2019s on the books, and I\u2019m sorry —<\/p>\n
RUSH: Yes. If the federal government won\u2019t enforce it, it may as well not be there. It doesn\u2019t… Look, John, it doesn\u2019t make any sense why we aren\u2019t enforcing duly constituted laws.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Amen. Amen.<\/p>\n
RUSH: And this, I would have to think —<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m right there with you, man. I\u2019m right there with you.<\/p>\n
RUSH: This has to make your job more dangerous.<\/p>\n
CALLER: Like I said, I\u2019ve been doing this for 25 flippin\u2019 years, all right? Nobody has more frustration over this than I do. Nobody. Nobody in the whole damn world. I have refused promotions to stay out in the bushes, to stay out and enforce the law, and that\u2019s why I\u2019m staying now. I could retire tomorrow. I could be done. But somebody\u2019s gotta do it.<\/p>\n
RUSH: But you can\u2019t now. At least not that statute.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I could go, but I\u2019m very good at what I do.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m very good at what I do.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I like hearing people say that. I love hearing people say they\u2019re good at what they do. I believe you are.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I love what I do and I\u2019m very, very good at what I do. But it angers me when the country won\u2019t do the right thing. And like I said, there are a lot of people who are gonna recognize my voice, and I\u2019ll probably get in trouble over this. But that\u2019s okay, \u2019cause I can sign the papers tomorrow and be done.<\/p>\n
RUSH: What would happen to you? If you are recognized, what?<\/p>\n
CALLER: They\u2019ll probably throw me out.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Fire you?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Probably. And I have a very recognizable voice, kind of like yours.<\/p>\n
RUSH: Right. So you\u2019re not allowed to have — or you\u2019re not allowed to express — an opinion that\u2019s contrary to the government\u2019s?<\/p>\n
CALLER: Well, unofficially, no. We\u2019re really not. We\u2019re not supposed to speak out against the government. We\u2019re not supposed to do that. It\u2019s kind of like… I mean, we\u2019re the closest thing to the military there is.<\/p>\n
RUSH: You ever come close to anything to do with Fast and Furious?<\/p>\n
CALLER: I\u2019m not gonna talk about that. I\u2019ll tell you, I have been shot at, but I don\u2019t know who supplied those weapons. But, no, I\u2019m not gonna talk about Fast and Furious.<\/p>\n
RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I appreciate talking to you, sir.<\/p>\n
RUSH: I\u2019m glad you got through, John.<\/p>\n
CALLER: I listen to you every day that I can. Normally I can\u2019t because normally I\u2019m in places where I can\u2019t even pick up AM radio. But today is my day off. I\u2019m celebrating my anniversary with my wife. So I happened to be listening to you while going down the road to go eat. I\u2019m taking my wife out and we\u2019re gonna try to have a good time.<\/p>\n
