RUSH: Get this. It\u2019s from the Sacramento Bee. A new bill in California would allow a child to have more than two parents. “State Sen. Mark Leno is pushing legislation to allow a child to have multiple parents. ‘The bill brings California into the 21st century, recognizing that there are more than Ozzie and Harriet families today,\u2019 the San Francisco Democrat said.”<\/p>\n

Now, folks, this is an example of what we were just talking about. By the way, you will not run into situations like this over at Del\u2019s in Naples when you show up for hotdogs and Two If By Tea<\/a>. (laughing) This is the kind of thing that we used to be mocked for saying could happen someday. (interruption) You tell me what it is. How does a kid have more than two parents? Back when the family was being redefined — and remember, when people wanted to start talking about gay marriage, it changed the definition of marriage. I know this is gonna irritate some of you, but I\u2019m going back in time \u2019cause we made this prediction. <\/p>\n

Marriage is a word. Marriage is an institution. It has a definition. It is the union of one man and one woman. That\u2019s what marriage is. Now, some people think that it is discriminatory because two women can\u2019t get married or two men can\u2019t get married so we\u2019re gonna change what marriage is for whatever reasons, economic, hospital visit, benefits, whatever it is. So marriage is now gonna be not a union of a man and a woman. It\u2019s going to be between two men, two women. Well, since we\u2019re changing the definition of marriage, what is to prevent three people from getting married? We made this prediction. What if somebody wants to marry their pet dog? Once you change the definition of the word — you know, words mean things. <\/line><\/p>\n

Some of the opposition to gay marriage was no more than that. Sure, there was the concern for the institution and the tradition involved, can\u2019t take that out. But also, just etymologically, marriage means something. Two means something. Five means something. But now we\u2019re gonna change it. Well, once you change the definition, where does it stop? What if somebody says I\u2019m being discriminated, I want two wives, or I want my ex-wife and my current wife and all the kids under one family roof as one family? And I remember talking about this, and people with the usual criticism and mocking and scare tactics, fearmongering, all this kind of thing. Here it is. It\u2019s happening. Or at least it\u2019s being considered by supposed real life legislators, under this guy\u2019s bill. His name is Mark Leno. <\/p>\n

“Under Leno\u2019s bill, if three or more people who acted as parents could not agree on custody, visitation and child support, a judge could split those things up among them. … Examples of three-parent relationships that could be affected by SB 1476 include : A same-sex couple who asked a close male friend to help them conceive, then decided that all three would raise the child.” This is an example of the kind of family this guy\u2019s talking about. Where a child can have more than two parents. Or the surrogate, “You know what, it\u2019s actually my child.” <\/p>\n

“Well, you signed a contract.”<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t care. That\u2019s my child. That\u2019s my flesh and blood, and I want a relationship with that child.” <\/p>\n

This guy\u2019s bill says, okay, we\u2019ll find a way if all three involved here can come to an agreement, then the child will have three parents. (interruption) Well, I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m being asked if polygamy is legal. I don\u2019t know that the bill legalizes polygamy. I think this is more like assignation rights. Gonna sign parenthood to somebody who wants it. Or you could have, as I say, an ex-spouse, long gone, wants to come back and join the new couple, custody and this kind of thing. <\/p>\n

I\u2019m gonna read to you from the archive of this program, back in 2005. I warned you people of this exact thing happening. I said, quote, “Where would the line be drawn? Where would the liberals draw the line on the right to privacy? I mean, if you can marry somebody of the same sex, can you marry a third person of the same sex? Can you have a marriage of four people? If you\u2019re going to destroy and blow up the definition of marriage, then it can include pretty much anything if it occurs under the rubric of the right to privacy. If you can do this under the right to privacy and fairness and nondiscrimination, then where does it end?” August of 2005 is when I asked that very, very, very, very question. <\/p>\n

So now a California bill would allow a child to have multiple parents because California needs to be brought into the twenty-first century. There\u2019s more than Ozzie and Harriet families out there today. Three or more people who acted as parents could become parents of a child. And under the bill, if three or more people who acted as parents at any time during the child\u2019s life couldn\u2019t agree on custody and visitation and child support, a judge could split those things up among all three of them, not just two parents. And an example given, a same-sex couple who asked a close male friend to help them conceive then decided that all three would raise the child. That would then become the law in California, so that California can move forward into the twenty-first century. And we don\u2019t even want to contemplate the IRS looking at that family to assess the health care insurance penalty.<\/p>\n

<\/a>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Listen to this. This bill in California, this guy from San Francisco, Mark Leno, the multiple parents bill, it\u2019s called Senate Bill 1476. Are you listening to this? You may need to write this down to keep track of it. It “stemmed from an appellate court case last year involving a child\u2019s biological mother, her same-sex partner, and a man who had an affair with the biological mother and impregnated her while she was separated temporarily from her female lover.”<\/p>\n

That is what drove the bill. That circumstance inspired the bill. Again, “SB 1476 stemmed from an appellate court case –” wait \u2019til John Roberts gets this one. “– an appellate court case last year involving a child\u2019s biological mother, her same-sex partner, and a man who had an affair with the biological mother and impregnated her while she was separated temporarily from her female lover.” The child needed all those people as parents. The law didn\u2019t allow for it. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s another one. “Ellen Pontac, a Davis gay-rights activist, said she and her wife, Shelly Bailes, each had two children when they began their relationship 38 years ago. … Government should accommodate changing times, she said. ‘I just think that people should be able to create their own lives,\u2019 she said.” There you have it. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
